Abbeydale Town House, has been renovated to a very good standard retaining many of its original features. Whitby is known for its quirkiness and its many little alleyways and ginnels that take you down to the seafront. A busy working harbour awaits with a small vibrant fishing fleet that bring in their catch on a daily basis. Just around the corner from the harbour there’s a large sandy beach, great for all ages with donkey rides, sandcastles and rock pools. Perched on the hilltop is Whitby Abbey, famous for many reasons but one is the fact that it has 199 steps from the old town to the abbey. The Cleveland Way passes through Whitby as it follows the coastline down to Filey. It’s a stunning walk along the rugged clifftops and down into the small coves. For those who like a more leisurely stroll there’s the Cinder Path which is the old railway that goes from Whitby to Scarborough, over 20 miles of flat walking. The resorts of Robin Hood’s Bay, Sandsend, Staithes and Scarborough are all a short drive away. Abbeydale is a great base to visit the east coast, the North York Moors and the Wolds. Beach 500 yards. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant 400 yards.

Overall a good property for a family of fit people. The stairs
were a killer, 60 from kitchen to top room. Well equipped but loads of jobs needed doing. Middle bathroom smelly and shower leaks. Lower en suite toilet moves when sat on.Lamps falling apart, beds broken and handles on drawers off. No wardrobes just a few hangers in an alcove. Heating instructions a bit vague but we sussed them out. All in all a bit damp and run down. Probably wouldnt stay again.
were a kill.

Really nice house, all rooms were clean and tidy and beds really comfy, no name sign on outside so look for No20 (top of the street) and the key box is side of steps nr kitchen windows, little problem with middle room shower that constantly dripped and upstairs bath tap that fell apart. hopefully just basic plumbing problems owners can sort out quickly. Lots of narrow steps to get to top room (best room) 5 min walk to Whale Bone Steps or Bars and ShopsWould Definitely Stay Again !!
We met up with some friends from Bedfordshire. They arrived before us but as they had the key details were able to gain access. However they said they had a little difficulty geting the key out of the key safe. We had the top bedroom but found it to have a poorly equipped bathroom with only a trickle of water to the bath. It smelt a bit of damp as well. Our friends below us said they thought there might have been some water leakage into their bathroom also. The kitchen although adequate isn't the best equipped from our experience. All in all we had an enjoyable weekend but the place might be considered lacking for a longer duration.

Excellent, clean, well appointed, beautifully decorated in a good position.
Excellent, clean, well appointed, beautifully decorated in a good position.
Could do with double or secondary glazing on first floor bedroom for noise reduction and thicker duvets in kids room. But these are only minor issues in a lovely holiday home. Would recommend.

Lovely house in a good location.
Lovely house in a good location. Well equipped and very clean. But may be difficult if mobility issues - 59 stairs from basement kitchen to too floor bedroom. It kept us fit! Would recommend.

A lovely house in walking distance to the shops, harbour, park, museum and beach and train station.
A lovely house in walking distance to the shops, harbour, park, museum and beach and train station. Only downside really was the parking which was almost impossible as we unknowingly chose the Goth weekend. Things got slightly better after Monday for parking. Would recommend that they get a dishwasher and move the fridge freezer into the kitchen where there is plenty of room for both.

A lovely place to stay to see Whitby, beach, town or sights; easy to walk to all these places.
A lovely place to stay to see Whitby, beach, town or sights; easy to walk to all these places. Particularly liked the decor and size of rooms, and separate bathrooms for each bedroom a bonus. Would stay again .
