Once upon a time in a world away from the city, in the idyllic countryside of Ohariu Valley lies a charming and romantic hideaway which offers an intimate retreat. Unwind in the romantic, cosy, self contained cottage.
Only 20 minutes from Wellington CBD, situated in the privacy and surroundings of steep hills and peaceful farmland. Relax under the stars and take in the stunning stillness and beauty of the countryside.
An old army barracks building was moved to the property for shearers' quarters in the 1960's which has since been renovated into a cosy self contained hideaway. The semi open plan interior enhances the cosy atmosphere, and the spaces are furnished in a simple yet tasteful style. Continental breakfast items are included yet the cottage features a full kitchen with oven, microwave and fridge. Additionally, restaurants are only a 10 minute drive away in nearby Johnsonville.

Great location
Property was cosy with everything you need in a lovely country setting just
10 minutes from Johnsonville and 20 minutes from the Wellington waterfront. Hosts were great and were available if you needed anything but also left you to enjoy the place, if you didn’t need anything. Would stay again.

Beautifully presented and thoughtfully planned. Very lovely. Not as pet friendly as originally detailed, which was the whole point of the booking. Interesting drive in the dark on an incredibly winding road. Worked well as a stopover before taking the Picton ferry.

Perfect Wellington Staycation
We had an amazing time during the week we stayed. Adorable little cottage with everything you need. Jude was super accomodating and always made sure we had everything we needed.
I would definitely recommend to friends and look forward to staying again
