Very pet friendly. Loved the fenced in area for our dog. The kitchen was great. Everything we needed for cooking a family dinner. Then there was the fire pit by the creek. Everyone enjoyed the weekend.
Cozy, clean and comfortable… close to town with a wonderful backyard right on the creek is how I would describe this lovely cottage. Thanks for sharing your home it us, we had a wonderful time in Waynesville.
A great location in the wonderful town of Waynesville. I particularly loved the gazebo, the flowers, and the deck. My kids really enjoyed the access to the creek! If you don’t mind cold water, it’s a great place to swim and walk the rocks. Pretty much everything we needed was available or close by to bw gotten quickly enough.
Absolutely phenomenal little spot in close proximity to all the best parts of the area. The only reason I have to give 3 stars on cleanliness is that the cleaners didn’t show up so the home hadn’t been cleaned when we arrived, but the owner was wonderfully communicative and apologetic and did everything they could to remedy the situation while we explored downtown.
Will definitely be coming back next time we’re in the area!
We enjoyed our long weekend at Susan and Rolf's home. A cute mid-century located on the lovely Richland Creek. The house was comfortable, with a nice small fenced in yard, a covered gazebo overlooking the creek. Plenty of parking. Kitchen had many of the at home touches. (Dishwasher is coming soon.)
Road noise was a little loud during day but quiet at night.
Road noise during the day, but quiet at night.
We had a great stay. Beds were comfortable, very clean and orderly. Host even checked in with us and asked about out trip. We were given a welcome gift. Great restaurants and shops. I was hoping to take my grandson fishing, but apparently Wal-Mart no longer sells a 3-day license. We traveled the Blue Ridge Parkway between Maggie Valley and Cherokee. It did not disappoint, the trees were beautiful, even in the rain. We did the train trip in Bryson city. A wonderful trip as usual.
Susan was a super host. She reached out to us prior to arrival and was quick to respond when we had a hiccup when we got to the house and satisfactorily resolved the issue. The gazebo along with the deck and back yard were definite plusses and our 2 little dogs enjoyed the fenced-in back yard (and not having to be on a leach to go potty). Although the weather was not conducive to spending much time outdoors, we did love being right on the creek. The house was very comfortable with good in-house entertainment options.and good wifi service. The location is very convenient and we made several area excursions (Biltmore House, Maggie Valley/Cataloochee, Lake Junaluska) that were not far and easy to get to, as well as enjoying the great downtown area of Waynesville just minutes away, We plan on returning sometime when the weather is warmer so we can spend more time enjoying the creek and doing some grilling on the deck,
Really enjoyed our time in Waynesville and at Richland Creek Retreat! The house was lovely and conveniently close to downtown and restaurants. The backyard is fantastic, and we enjoyed the sounds of the creek. The house was stocked with everything we needed, and it was nice that the linens and towels were provided.
Great place to stay. Roomy house with everything you need to relax and enjoy sitting out by the creek. Gated deck connected to a spacious gazebo and a fenced in side yard make it the perfect place if you want to bring your small dog along. Updated appliances in a fully stocked kitchen that has everything you need to cook a meal if you wish.Quick drive to shops and restaurants.
This home has lots of amenities. We enjoyed having morning coffee by the creek before getting on with our day. The kitchen is well equipped, beds are comfy amd the fenced in area is very secure if you have sneaky pets. We did not bring our dog but I appreciated the owner’s attentiveness to that as we have had issues at every pet friendly location. Also, it’s a short walk to lots of ahops and restaurants.
While the property had pretty much everything we needed, it really needs to be deep cleaned and the comforters and sheets need to be replaced. Just a little modernizing would go a long way. Lightning in kitchen was best ever, all appliances worked great. Had some really cute end tables and decor. The outside gazebo and porch could have used a good blowing off before we arrived, it is a beautiful area with the creek flowing by. The house is close to many restaurants and shopping. We really enjoyed our two weeks and with the exceptions noted above, would be happy to return.x
We had a great time at the house on Richland Creek in Waynesville,NC!!
The house was perfect for our family and being directly in the creek was a plus!!
The owners were very nice and easy to communicate with. The house had everything we needed for a great long weekend!
Overall a great weekend!!
Susan and Rolf were great hosts. Their house is very well kept and convenient to downtown and many stores and restaurants. The best part for me was the stream at the back of the house. I spent many hours sitting in the gazebo reading and listening to the stream. I also opened the master bedroom window at night to listen to the water. I am a distance runner, and my wife is an avid walker. There is a quarter mile track a half mile from the house that we used every day. The neighboring street has many friendly people who we visited with daily. Our dog loved the fenced backyard and ran to her heart's delight. All in all, a very pleasant stay.
On a formal note, the check in process was super easy. Upon entering the house, we found it to be clean and neat. The kitchen, bathroom, and laundry were stocked with some basic supplies. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of seating. The outdoor areas were well maintained. We spent a lot of time on the large deck and gazebo where you can see and hear the creek which was maybe 20 or 30 feet from the deck and is easily accessible if one chooses to go down to the water which we did. Out little dog loved the fenced in area.On a personal note, I'd like to thank Susan for opening this property up to visitors. I am originally from the Great Smokies. My family moved us away when I was a child, but I would come back to spend the summers with family. Now, as an adult, I feel the pull to go back and visit the area whenever I can. It was a great retreat and so peaceful to just sit on the deck and listen to the creek rush by. My wife and her mother had a great time shopping in town which was maybe a 5 minute drive from the house. A little further out, there were lots of shops and flea markets with plenty of antique and vintage items. You can definitely put our names down as future returning visitors.
