Brilliant location, lovely property, very nice room with good space for two children’s beds (we had an attic room). Only slightly spoiled by someone’s alarm going off late at night and it taking a long time to turn-off. The pub and restaurant part of the property are very nice, some of the food is alright, but could be better (my pork main course was very dry, the goats cheese and beetroot starter was a bit strange, the full English breakfast was not great and the boiled eggs were not runny so children were slightly disappointed!)/ nevertheless still recommended as a wonderful place to stay for visiting Longleat or enjoying the surrounding countryside
Cleaning in bathroom not good.
As it was our 48th anniversary on the 11th of September. I ordered prosecco to be left in the room. It did not arrive.

Quite expensive for a night. Only perk is that it’s near the Safari. Water pressure is hopeless and water temperature is inconsistent. Bed needs new mattress. It has a coffee machine though but I didn’t use it. Overall I would stay elsewhere when we go back to see the safari again.
An excellent stay - lovely people, good food. But the room in the stable block was tiny and really a walk in shower would have been a more sensible option than the shower over the bath tub, with its glass flap. Inevitably the floor gets wet - and slippery. But still, we loved The Barn Arms and if we are in the area again will certainly return.
Lovely a had a real comfortable night and slept well. Breakfast was delicious too.

Disliked: Cleanliness
Feel it was overpriced although location was good.
Initially given a room above bar, very noisy could hear every word of conversations; room was changed.
Dinner was not as good as expected, lacked flavour. Main concern was pieces of bone in rabbit confit which was advised to waitress and was met with a response of OH, no follow up from manager as would be expected from a potentially dangerous matter.
Breakfast, available from 7.30 however door to bar / dining area was still locked after that time, banging on door for a few minutes got no response so had to phone the reception to open the door, really unimpressed with the reaction of staff.
Cleanliness of property overall I felt was poor, really dislike sticky tables which was the case in both bar and restaurant.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Quirky hotel in a lovely location. Our room was Pike, clean and comfortable with huge bed. The wet room would benefit from the addition of a small shelf to accommodate toiletries.
The staff here were all excellent - very helpful and efficient. Both the lunch and evening menus were fabulous, well prepared and delicious. (The Bloody Marys were the best I have ever had!) Very convenient for visiting Longleat safari park - the exit from the park is next to the hotel although the entrance was a few minute's drive. When booking, we requested a ground floor room because of mobility issues which was great. The room (Club Room) was spacious, however because of the bathroom being on the ground floor, it meant having the blind down for privacy issues (clear glass in the window) and the artificial lighting and mirror really werent great. This made it rather difficult to apply make up (in my case) or shave (in my husband's). That was our only complaint, other than having to request a kettle to make a cup of tea! The instructions for the pod coffee maker were rather illegible. (I do wish that hotels would leave simplified instructions for using appliances rather than just the instruction book. If you are only staying one or two nights, you dont really want to have to wade through a book on how to use something! Its bad enough having to do it at home.)
Lovely country inn with well kept rooms, bar and restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive on arrival, during dinner and at breakfast. Our room was well furnished and had all necessary amenities, the modern pod coffee machine was a bit tricky to use initially.
The hotel was lovely and comfortable, clean, pretty. The food was a surprise- really really excellent! Much more than just another country inn. Service was good and we had a lovely overnight stay. Thank you.
Amazing hotel. Would like to keep it a secret but customer service by staff was superb (special mention to the American lady) made our short stay memorable.
Fantastic pub, very close to Longleat. Great outdoor space. Exceptional food.
Stayed in a club room and only minor complaint would have like a shower instead of a bath.
A true gem of a place in an idyllic setting.
The welcome and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean, with a very nice modern bathroom.
Being 6ft 3, the biggest challenge for me is the age of the building. Having to crouch through all the doorways and inevitably picking up one or two painful knocks.
It is a quiet village and parking outside is no problem if somewhat of an abandonment of cars.
Dinner and wine options are good. Sadly the only bad point was the 3 ales on tap with 1 being off, the other 2 on the turn.
We booked this hotel based on reviews. What a mistake! The rooms décor was very tired and was shabby and NOT chic, the furniture was grubby and consequently we did not want to use it for clothing storage. Room was not as described and certainly was far from being "superior" The bathroom had peeling wallpaper and the carpet was dirty. The carpet was also fitted around bath and the toilet! I will leave your imagination with that one! disgusting. I haven't seen that in a domestic environment since the 1970's! The bathroom was also being used as a storage room for beds! Breakfast was not good and poor quality, we were even expected to assist with the making of our breakfast when we were told that we had to make the toast for our poached eggs on toast, that was a first! Couldn't wait to leave. Very over priced and had no quality. We would of been better off in a Travel Lodge. Feel totally ripped off!
