This was an amazing stay. The staff were so friendly and the room beautifully furnished. This hotel has old world charm that is totally lacking in modern establishments.

Conveniently located in the center of Voss, right near the Gondola and the lake. The hotel itself is very dated - the rooms could use an upgrade and the hallways smelled musty. Good for one night stay, but with limited dining options, I don't think we would stay more than a night.

Beautiful hotel with amazing location!
Lovely hotel with wonderful character and history still operated by same family! We asked for a lake view room in the historic section. Room was large and the high ceilings and furnishings were lovely. Our view wasn't bad, but I would recommend a room higher than the second floor so the view isn't partially obscured by the roofline of the terrace. Bed was comfortable and clean, but pillows are terribly thin. We used the extras in the closet in addition to the ones on the bed. Wonderful service and friendly staff! Dinner buffet is convenient, but expensive. Several of the meats were dry, but there were nice desserts. I would probably not do it again. The location right across from the lake and proximity to the gondola, train and shops is fantastic!! The positives definitely outweigh the minor negatives and would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again!

Historic hotel in Voss
Very scenic property with chateau style building and fantastic views of the lake. Breakfast buffet was great They allowed us to check our bags before and after our stay. Ice water was always available in the lobby. The hotel is right next to the train station & gondola. Front desk was helpful with directions to the gorge & waterfall.

An historic hotel, so wasn’t expecting air conditioning but it would’ve helped with sleeping. They upgraded me, so nice. Breakfast buffet fills 2 rooms with elegant ballroom seating overlooking the lake. Great to have a drink relaxing on the veranda. I lost my credit card and the staff was so helpful.

It is a very attractive historic hotel located right along a lake. Walking trail right outside with train and bus station adjacent to hotel. The staff were friendly but they were so understaffed that front desk was working the bar and had no clue. Restaurant took along time to get food ordered and served and then it was lukewarm.

A unique family hotel that has great staff but could benefit from upgrading in certain areas. The breakfast room is soulless and feels a little impersonal and whilst some of the rooms have been upgraded and we were kindly moved to a better room after a problem with our reservation not showing on the system, we found that the blackout curtains were too small for the window and left a 2’ gap facing out to the car park and street! There was no telephone in the room and little hanging space within the wardrobe and no hooks to hang wet ski gear! There was only one tiny chest of drawers too! The bathroom was amazing with a swanky bidet/loo and a lovely rainfall shower but we felt these basic needs above were missing! A big shout out though to Tanya who the hotel should be very proud of, she is a great asset to the hotel reception and handled our non booking with confidence and reassurance

Hands down my favorite place in Norway
Beautiful hotel in the best location. Can easily walk to everything in town. The railroad station and gondola station are next door and e-bike rentals are right there. Hotel has a gorgeous outdoor dining area with cover from rain and heating. A beautiful pool and hot tub with windows overlooking the lake. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Bathrooms spacious and clean. I’ll be back many times. I’ve been traveling throughout Norway for 2 months and this is by far my favorite town and hotel.

The hotel is getting older and is very charming. It could be kept at a higher standard. The location is great with views over the lake where it is nice to walk and enjoy the sporting activities.

Unforgettable stay - unfortunately
From the lack of any welcome at check in to suffering a fall in the unlit, unsafe passageway, the place is a disaster zone! My room booked for one person was set up for four people to sleep in it so the lake view could not be enjoyed without converting the sofa bed back to a sofa which i was expected to help with. The place is literally falling apart (the toilet lid and seat was not attached) but it was clean. The restaurant has a limited menu that I was apparently lucky to be able to sample without a booking. Despite being informed no booking was required. Had to lay my own table for breakfast. Not my idea of 4 star hotel.

Thank you for your review. I am so sorry for the invconvenience we caused you during your stay with us. You must have had a family room instead of a single room. This might be due to high demand and lack of available single rooms. I am sorry about that. I hope you were able to enjoy the scenic view from other parts of the hotel. It must have been very, very busy for nobody to wish you welcome. I cannot understand it and I do apologize. I have no other excuse than it being a very busy season with a challenging situation regarding recruiting enough personal this summer. I hope to be able to wish you welcome at your next stay with us. This is priced and advertised as a nice luxurious place but its pretty rough, especially for the price. Our shower was clogged and flooded the whole bathroom every time we used it. The toiled seat was broken off, the laundry machine was basically a single washer in the basement that was a huge pain to use. The hot tub wasnt hot and the jets didnt work. The sauna didnt get hot. Basically I paid extra money to be at a nice hotel and it was anything but nice. A total let down. Save your money and go somewhere else.

The Wifi connection was not good. Only a few channels on TV, even if many channels were listed. Room was not clean, floor carpet was dirty. A la carte menu in restaurant had only 2 choices main course and expensive. Room price was over-priced.
