"Meget hjælpsom personale, men problematisk at stedet ikke er 24/7 bemandet. Vi var udsat for strømsvigt om natten og der var ingen hjælp at finde før næste morgen. Har man ikke prøvet et sted hvor man på mail får oplyst en kode til oplåsning af dør og værelser ville det hjælpe meget med en billed forklaring og ikke kun tekst information. Morgenmaden er fin men forvent ikke at kunne spise andet end snack på stedet og kun i tidsrummet 17 til 23."

Hospedium Hotel Juan II

Hospedium Hotel Juan II

8/10 Good
"The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Toro’s charming old town, just steps away from restaurants and the church, with spectacular views of the Duero Valley. The reception staff were warm, friendly, and helpful, making check-in and check-out effortless. We chose a room with a balcony, which was absolutely worth it for the breathtaking views. The room was spacious, although it could use a little updating, and the floor was slightly dusty, possibly from the balcony. Breakfast was quite basic, with limited choices. Also, one thing to point out is parking at the hotel was quite challenging for big cars. Overall, a lovely stay in the heart of beautiful Toro!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Villalar De Los Comuneros?
Given that Villalar de los Comuneros is a small village, the best area to stay is within the village centre itself.

The village centre is compact and easy to navigate on foot, primarily focused around the central square, Plaza Mayor. This area is home to the local church, Iglesia de San Juan Bautista, and a few small, family-run establishments. Staying here puts you right at the heart of village life, offering a genuine feel for the local community.

For couples looking for a quiet and authentic Spanish experience, staying in the village centre is ideal. It provides direct access to the few local eateries and allows for peaceful strolls through the historic streets, enjoying the traditional architecture and the unhurried pace of life.

For those interested in the historical significance of the village, particularly the events of the Battle of Villalar, staying in the centre means you're just a short walk from the monument commemorating the Comuneros, located slightly to the north of the main square.
When is the best time to go to Villalar De Los Comuneros?
The best time to go to Villalar de los Comuneros is during the spring months, particularly April and May, or in early autumn, around September and October.

Spring offers mild and pleasant weather, superb for exploring the town's historical sites and the surrounding Castilian countryside. The most significant event, the celebration of the Castilian and Leonese Day on 23rd April, takes place during this season, drawing visitors who wish to experience the region's cultural heritage. The fields are often green and the wildflowers are in bloom, making for picturesque scenery.

Autumn also provides comfortable temperatures for sightseeing, with fewer crowds than in peak summer. The landscape takes on beautiful golden and russet hues, especially in the vineyards surrounding the region, which can be lovely for a leisurely drive or a walk. This season is ideal for those who prefer a more relaxed visit, perhaps enjoying the local cuisine and wines without the summer heat.

For those planning to attend the 23rd April festivities, booking accommodation and any specific activities well in advance is highly recommended due to increased demand.
