Beautiful Custom Log Cabin - Majestic Mountain Views

Enjoy the peaceful, majestic, picturesque, views from our custom built log home, 'OWLS ROOST'.

'OWLS ROOST' offers a 180 degree panoramic view of Grandfather Mountain, Valle Crucis and a beautiful western sunset. Our home provides a warm and cozy setting for your enjoyment and relaxation.

'OWLS ROOST' is conveniently centrally located between Blowing Rock, Boone, and Banner Elk. It is also close to Linville, Sugar Mountain, and Beech Mountain.

Our home has two bedrooms on the first floor with queen beds and one full bath. The living room and dining room have vaulted ceilings and a large stone fireplace. The kitchen has all the amenities and is well stocked with all of the essential cooking utensils. The second floor has the master bedroom with a king bed and a full bath with a large jetted tub. The second floor also has a loft area with a sleeper sofa.

The lower level has a den, game room ( foosball, and and an arcade game over 50 games). The lower level den has twin beds, and a separate bedroom with a queen bed. The lower level contains a full bathroom as well as a washer and dryer.

The house is wired with Wi-FI.

The house offers two covered decks and a third open deck with a large Hot Tub.

'OWLS ROOST' is the perfect vacation get-away no matter what season. Experience four distinct seasons where you can enjoy: skiing, skating, snowboarding, sledding, hiking, shopping, fishing, rafting, and much much more.

The Owl's Roost .... excellent accommodations

Best mountain cabin we have stayed in and the owner was very prompt in communicating and answering all questions leading up to our trip . I would recommend The Owl's Roost for a family trip or a friend's gathering .

Our New Year Vacation

Communication with the owner was great, cabin was awesome, and views unbelievable, but understand to get a great view you have to drive to the top of the mountain, which was a bit challenging.

Great Mountain Cabin

This was a great place to stay for families, or friend get togethers. Plenty of space and well stocked for cooking. Hot tub was great so were the views.

Home away from Home

We had a wonderful weekend at this mountain Cabin, it truly felt like a home away from home. Fully stocked kitchen for easy meal preparation, comfortable living area, nice size bed rooms with very comfortable beds. Hot tub with great views was an added bonus. The owner was very responsive, and hospitable. We will definitely stay again when in the Boone area!

North Carolina family reunion

We had a wonderful time! The views were incredible. A view of Grandfather Mountain from the hot tub. The house was comfortable and very quiet. Plenty of comfortable bedding. Great family reunion house.

App State / ECU Game weekend getaway

Phenomenal views and fabulous mountain home! Wish we had stayed longer. We are use to the high country and this one was truly at the top of the mountain. The amenities were great and looking forward to a revisit soon!

Beautiful mountain stay

Our three generation family group thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin is new and very well stocked with kitchen supplies and games, including a foosball table and arcade game. We took advantage of the hot tub and wood burning fireplace, too. Since we are Florida folks used to flat straight roads, we did the drive up the narrow, winding road before dark, but it was definitely worth it for the peaceful location with a gorgeous view.

Vacation trip

Located at the top of a mountain. The drive up a little scary the first time but the house suited us perfectly. Grandkids downstairs was great for them and us. They loved hot tub. Kitchen had everything you needed. A bathroom on every floor worked great also. Would definitely stay there again

Wedding Prep

My family was able to use the cabin as we prepared for our son's wedding. Description was accurate and accommodations provided plenty of space and was conveniently close to the venue. Host was gracious and assisted when I wasnt able to find the check-in letter that also included access code. All went extremely well and was a great weekend.

Comfortable and antiquey

Very comfortable, all necessary ingredients for a nice fire, though some smoke does come inside the house, should clean out chimney I suppose :-). Kitchen has everything you need, we cooked some. TV situation was very good, which was nice because it was so cold and windy when we were there.

Beautiful Cabin

We absolutely loved the cabin and all of the antique decor. Plenty of room for our family of 6 that stayed. The road to the cabin is a little scary because it's so steep (especially for us Floridians used to the flat roads LOL) and the cabin is at the very top! But that also adds to the amazing views...you may need AWD or 4x4 during snowy times. The kids had so much fun with the games.

August Wedding

We came to the area from Michigan for a wedding. It was our first time in North Carolina. It was beautiful. The house was perfect and everything was just as described in the description. They view of Grandfather Mountain was amazing from the porch. The owner was great to work with and was very accommodating. We would definitely stay here again!

Top Of The Mountain

This beautiful cabin at the top of a mountain in Valle Crucis delivered in every way for our family's December vacation. My wife and adult children loved the incredible views, the comfortable accommodations, the fireplace, hot tub, foosball, and even old-school arcade games. It's convenient to Banner Elk, Boone, and Blowing Rock. The host was helpful and quick to respond to all our questions prior to the trip. Of all our recent mountain rentals, this tops the list. We hope to make the Owl's Roost part of our annual tradition.

Large cabin for family gathering

Beautiful spacious cabin on the top of the mountain. Very curvy road up to the house. We enjoyed the comfortable deck with the rocking chairs and swing and the mountain view. Four bedrooms provided plenty of privacy for our extended family group. The kitchen is well equipped for the meals we chose to prepare together at home. Be advised: You are expected to provide your own sheets and towels. We were not advised of this until after renting.

Celebration of Life for Terry Doherty

We visited to attend the Celebration of Life for my father Terry Doherty, who lived in Valle Crucis on Red Tailed Hawk Road, close to the cabin. My mother still lives there. All three of my sons (ages 24, 22, and 8) stayed with me, as well as cousins and friends. The cabin was perfect for us, and we really enjoyed it (especially the boys who played lots of games in the basement). The view was spectacular, similar to my parents house around the corner, but a little higher. We would definitely come back.

At first our stay was absolutely wonderful. The house was very nice, beautiful location, up the hill in the trees. Very secluded and peaceful. We had a totally positive experience, until we checked out. We knew that this property did not provide bed linens or towels for guests, so we had to bring our own. Because the house was quite a drive up the hill from the town, we also brought items like toilet paper and paper towels just to be safe. The property did leave some paper towels on the counter but we also used the ones we brought as we had 8 people in the house. Packing up to leave, a roll of paper towels were on the kitchen counter. Thinking nothing of it, I handed the roll to my niece since she is in college there at App State. It didn’t cross my mind if it was a roll we brought or was in the house. Well, about 20 minutes after we checked out and left, I received an email from the owners/hosts. They accused us of going into their “paper towel inventory” and stealing paper towels. Seriously? One roll of paper towels? That we provided for ourselves for the most part. If we had not brought our own, we would have used all of the towels they provided and then some. But more importantly, they admitted to surveillance cameras which were not disclosed to us per VRBO policy or NC law. So I would say only rent here if you want your hosts watching you the whole time. Creepy.

Beautiful Cabin

The cabin was wonderful and the location was a big plus. We had plenty of room for the family. The game room and the many board games in the basement and the hot tub on the deck were a big hit with all of us. The beds are all very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. The living room has seating for plenty of people. There are only two minor things that I would note. The first is that you have to take your own linens. The second is there is nowhere to dump the garbage on property. You have to take it with you or run it to the landfill. Other than those two very minor items, we highly recommend this property and we would rent it again.

Nice house, pleasant stay, just come prepared

Overall the house was nice with a good view. We found out after booking that you have to bring all of your own towels and linens, which is rather annoying for weekend getaway. We tried to communicate with the owner several times before the stay about parking, door code, etc. While communication was quick, the owner was not overly friendly/helpful about us having “so many cars for so few people”, referring us to the email several weeks ago when asking about the door code, etc. Also, the grill was a charcoal grill, no gas or propane so come prepared with the necessary stuff.
