Marie was such a friendly host and the walk around the little town with her when we arrived was the perfect way to start our 5 night stay there. The place is a good mix of old town charm and modern convenience. Little coffee shop was open early to get coffee and the country roads were a great place to go for a run in the morning. We drove to the coast and took the train to Cinque Terra to explore. It was a good base away from the crowds but close enough to get everywhere. We would definitely stay here again.
I have wanted to stay at Casa Colomba for 2 years! My dream came true and it did not disappoint. Marie and Lorenzo are wonderful hosts. She is there to give you wonderful suggestions and to help book your excursions. The accommodations were great. The town is right out of the history books. We plan on returning again.
Honestly I was very impressed. The condo was neat, clean and the bed was comfortable which was very important to me. When said you can walk Downtown, the description is pure fact. Two thumbs up my wife and I give for the condo. I can keep going but I will say rent it if it’s available. Jon will will be there for you to answer your question and give advice. Enjoy.
We had such a lovely stay in Vicopisano! Marie and Lorenzo have put together tons of information about where to go and what to do in the area. We had the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. The apartment was wonderful and looks exactly like the pictures. It was the perfect location for our excursions around Tuscany. We rented a car out of Florence and found the driving in the area to be very easy. We wish we could have stayed longer and cannot wait to be back!

An authentice Tuscan experience!
Staying at Casa Columba was like stepping back in time with all the modern conveniences. Our hosts, Marie and Lorenzo were very friendly and welcoming and provided helpful information of what to do and see. The house was furnished beautifully and the welcome basket was so nice after a long day of travel. I would highly recommend staying in this intriguing and unique 12th Century Tower... you'll definitely get a true Tuscan Experience!!
Spent 4 nights at Casa Colomba, couldn't have ask for a better host in Marie or a better location in Vicopisano for visiting the varied and beautiful Tuscan communities. Pisa, Lucca, Cinque Terre, Volterra all unique and exquisite in their own ways. Don't miss time in Vicopisano itself. The restaurants are great, wonderful bakery, and the weekend tower tour is worth the effort to look down on the town and miles into the rolling countryside. This place is everything you are building up Tuscany to be in your mind , don't miss it.

Wonderful flat and hosts
We absolutely loved this flat. The town is charming and just what we wanted for our vacation. Our children loved it as well. We ventured to Florence (a one hour drive), Pisa ( a 35 minute drive) and Lucca -at Marie's suggestion (also a 35 minute drive). We absolutely loved Pisa and Lucca. Florence was beautiful, but not the experience we were looking for. We much preferred Tuscany. We will be back. Thank you Marie and Lorenzo!

Special
I am very selective when it comes to choosing places to stay for a vacation. I chose this vacation rental based on previous reviews and photos and this place exceeded my expectations. Read all the other reviews and believe them. I would also take Marie's recommendations while you are there, they are spot on. We did alot on this vacation, Venice and Munich were highlights, but our time here was most memorable and special, more so than Paris or Florence. You will also find 2 great hosts, you will fall in love with Marie, she was so kind and gracious. Can't wait to visit again.

A Beautiful Retreat in Tuscany
We spent a glorious week at Casa Colomba in March. The owners, Maria and Lorenzo could not have been more nice or helpful. The flat itself is beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Vicopisano is a quite little town with a lot of charm (and towers!). The flat was very romantic and perfect for a couple. There are a couple flights of stairs to get to the apartment, so this may not be the best choice for someone with mobility issues. Not only would I recommend this place to my friends, I am thinking of when we can go back. It was that nice. Thanks Maria and Lorenzo for a great vacation!

Over the top!
This place is over the top lovely!! Marie and Lorenzo are also so gracious and helpful. My only regret is that I couldn't stay longer. I definitely recommend Casa Colomba to anyone who wants to stay in a beautiful Tuscan village in the perfect location between Pisa and Florence. I walked around the village for hours one day and never got tired of the sites. Then got to return to my perfectly well appointed traditional Tuscan apartment. The photos of this place do not do it justice, it's far lovelier in person. I have to commend Marie and Lorenzo for the perfect mix of modern conviences and traditional Tuscan design.

Amazing property, amazing romantic vacation spot
This is one of the best vacations we have taken. It started with the prosecco waiting for us when we arrived in this romantic 11th century tower with a wonderful comfy bed but also had everything one would want in our modern world. Marie and Lorenzo were amazing hosts who were there at any time for any questions we needed and helped organize our sightseeing plans so we would see everything we wanted but also had tips on things we didn’t think of and so glad we saw thanks to Marie and she also organized our favorite part of the trip a Tuscan cooking class with our 2 children and olive oil tasting. This truly was a once in a lifetime Italian experience that we will always remember and a must for anyone visiting. You will not be disappointed! Can’t wait to come back again soon

Exquisite, authentic, memorable with excellent hosts!
My husband and I visited Casa Colomba, in Vicopisano, Tuscany, in April 2018 on our first visit to Tuscany. Casa Colomba was perfect. It truly is an authentic experience. The stone walls, wooden beams, quaint kitchen, and relaxing loggia were beautiful. It was very spacious inside, with a large living area, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and loggia. The town itself was very special, and we enjoyed walking the streets and pathways around the village. We felt as if we were the only tourists there! Marie and Lorenzo were delightful hosts, there when we needed something but not intrusive at all. There were restaurants, a market, and bars within walking distance. If you are looking for a stay in authentic Tuscany you cannot go wrong with Casa Colomba!
First, I'd like to echo all the wonderful reviews that I've read - everything was wonderful! Now, what is the one piece of advice I had before I arrived? Marie can escort you on a trip to visit the local olive plantation and press. They have a little shop at the farm where the sell sangiovese (chianti grapes grown outside of the chianti region) wine, made locally with grapes grown on the farm. It's delicious! My wife and I were constantly running out of wine, and while we fell in love with the young checkout lady at the grocery store after our daily visits, the local sangiovese is incredible - not to be missed!

Tuscany with Style
Marie & Lorenzo were amazing. They could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We felt like we had known them for ever. The accommodation was amazing - well appointed and spacious. The information provided was extensive and we needed more time to embrace it all. The experience was what we wanted, staying in a small Tuscany village relatively untouched by tourists. Shopping in the local village was fun and a great experience with little English spoken. Great location close to Pisa, Florence and other attractions. We travelled to Pisa and did Marie's walking tour. It made the day about more Pisa than just the leaning tower. Our experience was first class and we would definitely stay here again.

Charming Tower Apartment With Best Hosts Ever!
We spent four days at Casa Colomba and we had the best time! The village is very cute, not touristy at all, and has some great restaurant choices. It's a great location as a starting point to visit surrounding cities if you have access to a vehicle. We took the train to Florence one day and spent the day there.
Marie and Lorenzo could not have been more accommodating. They set up several experiences for us in advance - including a cooking class which we did in the bottom floor apartment of their beautiful remodeled home, and a half day wine tour. They were so hospitable and very responsive whenever we had any questions. They also set up dinner reservations for us multiple nights. They made our time in Tuscany so enjoyable and I would highly recommend their apartment to anyone.

Stunning apartment in what is probably the friendliest town in Italy.
My husband and I spent 3 wonderful weeks staying in Casa Colomba this August.
Our first impressions of the town and the apartment were equally favourable. As in: WOW!! The apartment is actually BETTER than it looks on the website. It is all SPOTLESSLY clean, and Marie & Lorenzo have thought of absolutely everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. Soap, detergent, spare towels; you name it. There are maps and guide books and a bookshelf of great holiday reads (in case you run out of books, like I did). They even put together a welcome pack of groceries (and prosecco!!) so that when we arrived after our long journey, we didn't have to think about shopping straight away.
Italy was experiencing a heat wave while we were there, but the apartment was high enough to catch the wind, which cooled everything down to a pleasant sleeping temperature...and there is an electric fan in each room anyway to help with circulation.
And did I mention how FRIENDLY everyone is? Marie & Lorenzo are definitely the most accommodating hosts we have ever met in all our years of travel. Apart from the exceptional pre-stay communication (all emails answered quickly, all concerns addressed), Marie went out of her way to make us comfortable. She booked restaurants for us, gave us the skinny on the best beaches to go to, and even took us all out one day for a tour of Vicopisano (she's a bit of a history buff). We finished it off with a visit to the local olive-oil maker, who thanks to Marie's introduction invited us all in to his house for a tasting of all the wonderful food (and oil) they produce on the farm. This was definitely the highlight of our whole trip!
The town itself is terrific. It's small, but the locals are SUPER friendly and welcoming. Actually I don't think there's a friendlier town in all of Italy. There were waves and smiles from the locals every day, the shopkeepers were all helpful... even the bus driver got off the bus to walk us over to a machine where we could buy cheaper bus tickets than he was selling.
We are 100% Vicopisano converts now. The location is perfect: half an hour from the beach, Lucca & Pisa. An hour and a half from Florence by public transport!! So easy. And if you can be there for the Medieval Festival like we were, then you will DEFINITELY take home memories to keep for a lifetime. So much fun!
Would we go back? Absolutely!!
Enjoy!

Truly a memorable experience!!!!
My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary on this trip and our decision to spend most of our time in Italy at this location was absolutely fantastic. Both Marie and Lorenzo made you feel very special right at the very first encounter. Marie and Lorenzo provided us with an abundance of information, tips, suggestions, recommendations for our stay before and during our time there. The location of Vicopisano was perfect. We wanted a true authentic Tuscany location and this met all of our expectations. The apartment was beautifully decorated and most all of the stones and bricks were from the medieval times. Wow! It was located 2 stories up and while it gives you a workout going up the stairs, you get used to it. The only thing that we wished it had was air conditioning because it can get warm during the summer. But I was told by Marie that they are working on getting an AC unit installed soon, so when this happens, it will be absolutely perfect. Until then, you do have fans in the apartment.
Now as for the excursions, we did the personalized wine tour that they offered and we were so impressed! Just the ride out into the Tuscany country side was awesome..absolutely stunning views and was just like we imagined it. We went to 2 family wineries and they were so inviting and nice. We had personalized tours and wine tastings and the wine was incredible! Very organic wines. We then experienced a tour of Andrea Bocelli's home town and lunch in the village. Fantastic. Later in the week we went to a real Olive farm that produces the best olive oil you will ever taste. We also got to see Kiwi trees, a full tour of the farm and how olive oil is made. Plus you get a delicious tasting along with wine. We bought several items to take back with us.
Our location was so convenient in that you can easily make day trips to the coast or visit other cities like Pisa and Lucca. Highly recommended! And the overall costs for food, wine, etc is so much more affordable than in Florence.
We can't tell you how much we enjoyed this trip! The sights, sounds, tastes and overall true "memorable experience" is what you are going to get with this rental. Marie and Lorenzo really know what their guests like and appreciate and a huge thank you for their hospitality and genuine personalities.
You are not just getting a beautiful Tuscany rental, you are getting wonderful memories. Bene Gratzie, Marie and Lorenzo!!!!!!!!!!
Sehr schöne, saubere Ferienwohnung in historischen Mauern
Marie is a force of nature and a natural host. We had the apartment under the roof, ~30 steps and the buzzer for ground-floor door was broken. In August, it gets hot and you need to close windows because of mosquitoes (which also attacked in garden). Place must be wonderful in spring or autumn.
