Based on some of the reviews I think we were fortunate!
We had an ensuite in a second building across the road from reception (which was very shabby and smelt of fags, and we were worried!!).
So the basic facilities in our room we're better than expected. It felt a little grubby on the walls and other touch points, but the bed was clean and very comfy.
No air con controller, as I understand this is expensive to run. Luckily we were fine with the windows open and we didn't get bitten by mosquitos for some reason, although I squashed one, so they were around. Bring your own spray. There was a new plug in device in the room.
The upstairs room housed someone who must have been nocturnal or a busy sleepwalker!!
Naturally, being on a busy street, there was general noise of people talking and clattering of dishes from the eateries, roller cases across the cobbles all night from people arriving, but none of that was the fault of the hotel just it's location.
So the room itself was adequate, but I wouldn't choose to stay there again.
