This hotel is cheap and in a convenient area next to the train station/ shopping area, BUT has tons of negatives. The showers had no hot water on top of the fact it kept constantly leaking onto the floor creating puddles resulting in us to have to keep using our towels to clean it up and house keeping was rather rude about giving extra dry towels due this inconvenience. Good luck getting extra pillows that aren't smashed, old, and have no pillow cases on them. The rooms are falling apart and dirty. The place also reeks of a horrible cigarette smell and the woman who works the front desk is incredible rude and a complete “scammer”. Firstly she tried to charge us the cost of 4 nights when we stayed for 2 nights and acted like we were the ones who couldn’t do basic math. She refused to let us pay with card (even though when I booked our reservation it said credit and debit accepted) and THEY HAVE a card reader on their front desk. She insisted we get euros from the atm , yet the atm connected to the building charged us $60 to take a small amount of money out. Not to mention she has a hot temper and berated me saying “ I have no idea how to travel” and that “ I have no idea how to book things etc”yet when my boyfriend walked back into the building she was trying to be emphatic of the situation. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of this place.

I'm sorry but we completely reject your accusations.You made a non-refundable reservation for 4 days.The platform sent us the request for a two-day reduction asking us not to add extra penalties and the management accepted.At the time of departure you refused to pay the non-refundable sum on the grounds that you had also had parallel correspondence with the hotel where you were guaranteed this opportunity, of which I asked you to send me a copy but, to date, it has not been received.The cash payment that was requested from you was the one relating to the tourist tax, i.e. exactly 4 Euros, you went out and withdrew from the ATM next to the hotel, but which has nothing to do with us and you paid You will receive 50% of the amount due to the hotel.For the rest of what you write, we completely reject your statements, probably dictated by a feeling of acrimony towards us.We remind you of just one thing: the word scammer in Italy falls under the crime of defamation and we forgive it only by thinking of your young age.We thank you anyway because after decades of an honored and honest career, you give us once again the surprise of how surprisingly multifaceted the human soul can be.We wish you a happy day and a life full of interesting, new, knowledge.Shaaba

Some pros, some cons
Hard to decide on this one. The hotel is not the best, but the price for the location is outstanding. We had what was meant to be a triple room of 3 beds but were given a room with a double bed and single folding bed. Cons The room had no proper windows so was very dark. The general condition was poor. AC unit but did not work. Single bed very uncomfortable and had plastic sheeting and pillow covers. Had to take them off as impossible to sleep on. Mosquitos were awful. Make sure you take repellent. Pros Cost £75 a night for a triple room. Location outstanding - couldn’t be better. The coupe that run it were really nice and welcoming. Bathroom was big and lovely shower. If you just want someone to leave bags and sleep, it’s ideal. A lot of poor hotels on the island are double the price. Come prepared to deal with the mosquitos as it can ruin your sleep if not. Can’t stress that enough. Overall it’s ok. I didn’t visit Venice to be in the hotel often so put up with the downsides.

Buona sera da HOTEL MINERVA & NETTUNO.Vorrei farle notare che i problemi che lei indica nella sua recensione sarebbero stati risolvibili in loco attraverso la semplice comunicazione.Lo staff di portineria è al vostro servizio 24 ore al giorno e semplicemente pressando il tasto 9 del vostro telefono in camera saremmo stati capaci di rendere il vostro soggiorno più gradevole.Ma iniziamo ad affrontare i punti uno alla volta:le finestre sono non piccole ma, purtroppo in alto, sarebbe anche un nostro sogno poterle portare ad un altezza migliore ma Venezia rimane una città medioevale che tenta in tutti i modi di adeguarsi alle esigenze moderne spesso, in questo tipo di interventi non vale il nostro sogno ma il verdetto della "sovrintendenza alle belle arti" che può dare o meno parere positivo a modifiche sulle strutture della città ed in questo caso il parere è stato negativo.L' aria condizionata il 1 di novembre con 14 gradi ed un vento di scirocco a 70 km all' ora si era spenta , ma una semplice richiesta da parte vostra l' avrebbe resa attiva nella vostra camera.Le zanzare sono un insetto con il quale a Venezia bisogna convivere ma ogni camera, inclusa la vostra, è dotata di un dispositivi elettrico con pastiglie imbevute di oli essenziali per allontanarle bisogna solo inserirlo nella presa elettrica. per quanto riguarda la sua prenotazione non conoscevamo la composizione dei letti, la sola cosa a noi nota era una camera per 3 persone, Anche questo sarebbe stato facilmente risolvibile comunicando.in ogni caso vi ringraziamo per le belle parole che, comunque avete trovato per noi. Spiace solo acorgersi che una maggiore comunicazione avrebbe reso il vostro soggiorno migliore .Grazie

The location is ideal, very short walk from train station. Surrounded by cafes, restaurants and endless shopping. Very friendly staff, spoke english, very helpful. Drawbacks, room was very small with only an armoir, very dated decor and a musty smell. We would stay there again.

For what we paid it was great. Would only recommend if staying one or two nights… the smell of cigarettes from the first floor can be smelt in all the hallways which is annoying but overall very nice stay for cheap!

Purtroppo tra i nostri clienti vi sono anche dei fumatori e abbiamo dovuto allestire un angolo anche per loro onde evitare che fumino nelle camere.A volte bisogna scendere a un piccolo compromesso per soddisfare tutti.Grazie comunque per il suo apprezzamento.

Great location!! On main strip, walkable to everything. Food options right outside of the door. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Loved that it was so close to the station and didnt have to carry out luggage throughout Venice.

Great quirky room for solo traveler
For an inexpensive hotel room in Venice close to the station and for a solo traveler it was fine. If you are looking for a more luxury style of accommodation the budget single room option is not for you. I loved it. It’s quirky and the reception staff were great and hopefully appreciated my appalling attempt to speak Italian to them. If your room faces the street you’ll need to allow for the late night noise of people walking to and from the railway station as the hotel is on the main thoroughfare into Venice.

Support your local Venetians who have been their whole life. Tourism is hard for the locals who are outnumbered. A town of 30,000 who receives 30M a year. We had a wonderful stay in the 3rd floor away from the noise but close to the action. This is a quick walk to the train station, grand canal, and to the San Marcos square but also local places to wander. They keep it clean, the cleaning lady is friendly and we saw her clean daily. Our room was spacious and had simple, classic furniture which I felt was very authentic and homey.

The best location!!!!!!!! Everyone in the lobby was nice and helpful. Just an fyi that the room is small and there is no elevator. Would definitely stay again.

Great hotel in prime location
I just stayed 3 nights in the hotel. Firstly the location is amazing. You can not get better as only a few min walk from the station. As soon as you exit the hotel there are dozens of restaurants and cafes. The room is old yes but it’s clean. They will clean the room every day. I had hot water, super fast wifi and zero bed bugs. In fact the hotel also gives you mosquito repellent set up in room. Yes you leave your key at reception when you leave. This is standard in Italy. I had the best experience from the hosts. They were very friendly. This is a budget hotel but I would most stay here again.

The facilities were terrible. There was no air condition working. I requested for a fan, and the staff was so rude in giving response. It was really horrible experience with full sweating. Unfortunately my family had worst experience because of facilities.

Buona sera da HOTEL MINERVA & NETTUNO.Esimio Signore mi dispiace doverla contraddire, ma l' aria condizionata era perfettamente funzionante.Come ho già spiegato, seguendo le linee del Governo Italiano per la salvaguardia del pianeta e per il controllo dei consumi sono tutte posizionate a 21 gradi.Nello specifico la sua, dopo la lamentela che tu hai fatto, è stata controllata da un tecnico la mattina seguente ed è risultata in linea con le altre.Probabilmente tu sei abituato a temperature diverse, ma questo è quanto in tutta onestà noi possiamo fare.Per quanto riguarda quello che lei definisce maleducato mi chiedo, personalmente, se dire ad un membro dello staff "tu adesso non ti muovi di qui fino a che non te lo permetto io" sia pratica normale dlle vostre parti.In ogni caso la ringraziamo per il suo commento .Lo terremo in considerazione anche perchè non si finisce mai d' imparare.Grazie e buon proseguimento.

I have stayed here a couple of times, because its right next to the train station and the area is great. It is far from the Piazza, but I like the walk. The room is very, you get what you see. For the price, is good. The beds aren't exactly amazing for your back. But that would be my only negative comment. The staff is extremely nice and welcoming.

Venezia è una città medioevale che cerca per quanto possibile di adeguarsi alle necessità moderne, ma dobbiamo arrenderci davanti a delle realtà inoppugnabili.Le costruzioni non sono falsi antichi ma verità storiche. La costruzione dove Lei ha alloggiato risale al 1400 . In costruzioni del genere, oltre ad essere dannosa per la sua stabilità e quella dei palazzi adiacenti, spesso per ragioni di spazio fisico sono inarrivabili.Grazie comunque da parte dello staff e della direzione per la sua gentile valutazione.Speriamo di riaverla presto tra di noi come gradito ospite

Bed bugs
This happened last night. Do not stay here. Our room had bed bugs, they moved us to another room, that had bed bugs as well. We waisted our entire day steam cleaning our luggage and spent over $50 euros doing laundry to make sure nothing comes home with us. The over night guy was very apologetic and tried to help as much as he could but the daytime lady(I think she is the manager) had a horrible attitude and was not helpful at all, they also refused to refund us even though we got zero sleep.

Gentile Signora ho aspettato qualche giorno per rispondere in modo di essere accurata e soprattutto onesta nella mia risposta.Sono quella che tu identifichi come la Manager; cosa che non è. Ti faccio presente che la mattina in cui sei entrata all' albergo, e per me era la prima volta che ti vedevo, le tue prime parole sono state "sacchetto di plastica" . In che modo potevo essere d' aiuto ad una persona che senza spiegare niente mi si rivolge dicendomi "sacchetto di plastica"? a mia risposta è stata " le mando ssubito una collega" .Che altro potevo dire senza sapere chi lei fosse?Per quanto riguarda i bed bags di cui lei ci accusa la informo che, dal giorno in cui lei ha lasciato l' hotel, le camere sono state messe 24 ore in quarantena per controllarle. Non avendo trovato niente sono state riaperte e, da 24 ore dopo la tua partenza sono state regolarmente affittate senza lamentele o complain.Vorrei sapere perchè ci accusi di non averti ridato i tuoi soldi quando non solo non abbiamo chiesto il tuo pagamento ma ti abbiamo anche offerto la seconda notte che hai passato in un altro Hotel. Diciamo che per questo soggiorno non hai speso presso di noi un centesimo.Se qualcuno ti ha chiesto del denaro non siamo stati ne noi ne l' albergo dove hai passato la seconda notte. Se tu ci avessi spiegato della tua necessità di lavare la tua biancheria, cosa che non hai fatto,per atto di cortesia lo avremmo fatto noi.Vorrei inoltre sottolineare una cosa che reputo fondamentale.Sia noi che voi possiamo essere vittime delle bedbags. Purtroppo sia noi che voi siamo innocenti vittime di una situazione che sfugge il vostro e nostro controllo.Questi parassiti infestano, e non sto dicendo cosa sconosciuta, treni aerei e pulmann si annidano, avolte, nelle rotelline dei bagagli e, involontariamente, i turisti le lasciano, senza saperlo, dove alloggiano.Essendo tutti noi vittime di questo orribile problema, perchè, invece di puntare il dito verso gli alberghi, b&b, alloggi, campeggi ecc ecc non vi rivolgete alle compagnie di trasporti con cui avete viaggiato?Attenzione non vuole essere un rispondere in modo maleducato ma semplicemente tentare di risalire all' origine del problema che ci permetterà a voi di viaggiare e godervi le vostre vacanze al meglio ed a noi di lavorare più serenamente dandoci così la possibilità di servire al meglio i nostri ospiti. The team at Neptuno E Minerva were very helpful, managing to add an extra bed to accommodate our friend that join the trip last minute. A clean room with a private bathroom close to the train station and 2 minutes away from Ponte degli Scalzi. Our beds were tidy every day and there was a 24-hour available reception. We were very happy with it!

Nope- don’t do it…
Hot, dated, advertised air conditioning but it was a swamp cooler and the controller was kept downstairs at the check in desk. You had to leave your key at the front desk every time you left the property. We had selected a room with a private bathroom and it was so small when you sat on the toilet your face was over the sink and you had to squeeze past the sink to climb into the shower. Literally as small as an RV bathroom. Water pressure was poor- when you lifted the hand held nozzle the flow became a dribble. We found a bug on one of the beds when we arrived. We had booked it for two nights and decided after the first night when we woke up with our sheets damp that were would rather lose the money we spent on the hotel and pre scheduled train tickets and spent an additional $250 to get back to our flat in Rome. Venice was beautiful but don’t stay here!!

Good morning from HOTEL MINERVA & NETTUNO.Dear Mr Michael.With sadness we read your comment.The thing that I most regret is that the problems you underlined could have found a prompt solution simply by speaking to the staff in charge of the reception who would have immediately tried to solve the solvable.Sometimes the lack of direct communication makes our being able to be useful to you impossible and then we are reduced to writing a reply to your comments. So here I am to tell you what we could have solved by talking.point 1: keys, you are asked to hand over the keys to the reception for control and security reasons.The keys have a bronze keychain bearing the room number and the name of the hotel, if unfortunately you lose your keys in the city, the safety of your belongings will be questioned.Being the keys of the security keys, the loss of one of these would result in our part reporting to the competent authorities and waiting on their part for the communication to the factory which would allow us the possibility of having a copy, a practice which can be extended up to 15 days.Having all the keys deposited at the reception allows us, in the event of particular events (fire, flood, earthquake, etc.) to act quickly and promptly for your protection.The air conditioning is not old and is kept perfectly efficient. In Italy there are anti-waste of energy laws and laws to protect the planet (I remind you that Venice has been declared an eco-sustainable city) this hotel strictly follows them. The air conditioning is all set at a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius.Some of our bathrooms may be small to those who are not used to living with the realities of a city that is and remains medieval and from which everyone gets the space to adapt it to modernity on pre-existing spaces.I categorically reject the accusation of beds bsgs formulated by you, I understand that by now this problem has become a phobia, but our cleaning protocol between an arrival and a departure does not allow these insects to be present in the room. Unfortunately, it can happen that, unintentionally, incoming customers bring them in their suitcases, something known and recognized worldwide.Regarding the water pressure : unfortunately we also fall into lack of communication here.Having notified the concierge, we would have called our maintenance technician and solved the problem.However, we welcome your information as a boost to be able to grow better by correcting any shortcomings.In conclusion, please only one thing: communicating in the hotel with the staff will make your staymore simple and easy .tanks youShaaba

A very classic room. It had a 1940s poet/artist vibe to it and had everything you needed for a short stay in Venice. It’s in a perfect spot close to the station and the staff were lovely.

Safe, clean, friendly no frills hotel. Was perfect for 2 young guys on a budget wanting to stay on the island. No issues with bed bugs but mosquitos were getting to us after leaving the door open to hang out on the balcony. Check in and out was easy and the lady at the desk was super friendly and they let us leave our bags there for the day.

Reasonable
Based on some of the reviews I think we were fortunate! We had an ensuite in a second building across the road from reception (which was very shabby and smelt of fags, and we were worried!!). So the basic facilities in our room we're better than expected. It felt a little grubby on the walls and other touch points, but the bed was clean and very comfy. No air con controller, as I understand this is expensive to run. Luckily we were fine with the windows open and we didn't get bitten by mosquitos for some reason, although I squashed one, so they were around. Bring your own spray. There was a new plug in device in the room. The upstairs room housed someone who must have been nocturnal or a busy sleepwalker!! Naturally, being on a busy street, there was general noise of people talking and clattering of dishes from the eateries, roller cases across the cobbles all night from people arriving, but none of that was the fault of the hotel just it's location. So the room itself was adequate, but I wouldn't choose to stay there again.

Okay, so we stayed at this property because it was cheap, and we were okay with everything looking a bit old and no a/c and even having a communal bathroom for the price, BUT our last full day housekeeping tried to kick us out a day early, and then when we went to check out, they put a “inconvenience fee” of €50 for checking out at midnight rather than 11am the next day. We had a bus to get to the airport or else we’d miss our 6am flight, but when we tried to explain that, he cut us off and forced us to give him the money in cash while someone else stood in our way to the door. There’s 24/7 desk, so I don’t know why checking out that early would be a problem. Honestly, you’d be better to stay somewhere close to Venice and go there for the day rather than staying in the hotels! BUT ESPECIALLY NOT THIS ONE. Because it was so hot we opened the doors (it gets cold at night) and my face was covered in bug bites. The door knobs never really worked well, and the room barely has any walking room. DO NOT STAY HERE.

The hotel had everything we needed, it was clean, well stocked, and the concierge was very friendly and accommodating. We were able to leave our suitcases after checkout, until we left by train later in the evening. Very convenient.

Excellent value for money
Very good value for money and in an excellent location, just next to the bus and train stations and only 20 minutes walk to Rialto. Easy check-in and check-out, complete stress-free. Beds were comfortable and our private bathroom was great.

Could have paid less for far more
Would not recommend. Upon our arrival they relocated us to another hotel for a night which we had NOT booked. The reason being was because they were out of rooms even though we had booked our stay in advance. This room had shared bathrooms which we did not sign up for with our original booking. Our second room was ridden with bed bugs. When mentioning this to the hotel staff and showing them the bed bugs we collected and the bites on our bodies their solution was to blame us for taking the train. The pillows were made out of solid bricks. Absolutely cursed.

Property is about ten minutes away from the Piazzale Roma and 15 away from San Marcos so it's conviently placed. The room was nice and spacious and the shower was very good although it does take a while for it to heat up
