About this property

Maison La louvegine | House in the Heart of Vaugines

  • ## Space

From the moment you arrive, you step into a beautiful inner courtyard where you can enjoy convivial moments with family or friends around the table.
In summer, the plant-covered pergola provides a pleasant coolness, perfect for relaxing and making the most of sunny days.

🏡 Once you step through the front door, you enter an elegant and welcoming living room, furnished with a sofa and two armchairs arranged near a wood-burning stove, inviting you to enjoy cooler evenings in a soothing atmosphere by the fire. For music lovers, a piano is available in the living room, offering the opportunity to share and enjoy delicate melodies.

🍽️ Just next door, the fully equipped kitchen charms with its authentic character. It features a Lacanche range cooker, a fridge-freezer, a microwave, a kettle, and a complete set of tableware. A large window above the sink allows natural light to flood in, making the space particularly pleasant for everyday living. A small table also provides the perfect spot for a quick meal or a relaxed moment together.

🪑 Opposite the kitchen, the dining room is arranged around a large solid wood table, ideal for hosting family and friends. A traditional Mado cabinet enhances the décor and reinforces the authenticity of the home.
The preserved and highlighted natural stone wall gives the room its full charm and warm atmosphere.
Behind the dining table, a glass door reveals a renovated former indoor cellar, adding a rustic and distinctive touch while recalling the history of the property and emphasizing its unique character.

A laundry room is also located on the ground floor.

A magnificent arched bay window floods the dining room with light and provides an elegant opening to the outdoors.

Two staircases lead to the upper floor: one located in the living room, and the other ideally positioned between the kitchen and dining room, ensuring easy circulation throughout the house.

Upstairs, the sleeping area consists of three bedrooms, a bathroom, and separate toilets.

🛏️ The first bedroom, accessed via the staircase from the living room side, offers a spacious and refined sleeping area. It features a comfortable double bed (160×200 cm), a wardrobe, and a period dressing table, adding an authentic and characterful touch.
A built-in bookshelf completes the layout, perfect for book lovers.
The beautifully preserved exposed beams give the room all its charm. A window near the bed, offering a glimpse of Saint Barthélemy Church, combined with a skylight, fills the room with natural light throughout the day, creating a soft, bright, and peaceful atmosphere.
This bedroom also includes one additional single bed.

🛏️ The second bedroom features a 160×200 cm double bed, ideal for restful nights. A wardrobe and chest of drawers provide practical storage space.
The exposed beams highlight the home’s authenticity and charm, while a window combined with a skylight allows beautiful natural light to brighten the room.

A separate toilet, located between the two bedrooms, provides additional comfort.

A corridor leads to the bathroom and the final bedroom. It is decorated with a period mirror, adding charm and authenticity to the space.

🛏️ The final bedroom offers a generous and versatile space. It includes a spacious 160×200 cm double bed, complemented by two additional single beds, allowing for two extra sleeping arrangements.
The exposed beams emphasize the room’s authentic character and contribute to its warm atmosphere. A small interior staircase leads to a high window overlooking the surrounding streets, bringing lovely natural light into the room.
This bedroom includes two additional single beds.

🛁 The bathroom combines charm and functionality in a soft and elegant atmosphere. It features a bathtub, ideal for relaxing moments, equipped with a rainfall shower, as well as a washbasin set on a wooden vanity unit, adding warmth and authenticity to the space.
Deep blue tiles adorn the walls, giving the room a unique and refined character. Open shelving and carefully selected decorative elements complete the space, creating a bathroom that is both pleasant and perfectly suited for everyday comfort.

    ## Access

This house features authentic stone walls, which contribute to its charm and natural coolness. As with many traditional stone buildings, some humidity may occasionally be noticeable depending on the season and weather conditions.

The house is located on the heights of the charming village of Vaugines, which has preserved its pure Provençal authenticity, reflected in its picturesque narrow streets, vaulted stairways, small squares, and beautiful historic homes.
Stroll through the winding lanes and arched staircases toward the church, just as the characters of Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources did—films partly immortalized here by director Claude Berri.

Béatrice and Michel are delighted to share their family home, for which they truly fell in love with its ancient stone walls and its proximity to the church of Vaugines.
They chose to renovate it as a family project, with passion and high standards, supported by the invaluable help of their children, who are architects by profession, in order to restore all its charm and authenticity.

Rich in history, the house was notably frequented by the writer Henri Bosco, who was close to the family of the previous owners.
It later belonged to an association that welcomed underprivileged children for holidays in the Luberon, before beginning a new chapter today as a home dedicated to sharing and conviviality.

Free parking spaces are available just below the house. A larger free car park is also located approximately 200 metres away.
A public charging station for electric vehicles is available approximately 150 metres from the house.

📍 The village of Vaugines is ideally situated between Lourmarin and Cucuron, two of the most beautiful villages in Provence.
Lourmarin, listed among Les Plus Beaux Villages de France, is only 5.5 km away.
Cucuron, a magnificent and typically Provençal village with authentic charm, is located just 2.2 km from the house.
