Hotel is duidelijk verouderd. Kamer was oud maar wel proper. Het diner vindt plaats in een zeer ongezellige ondergrondse ruimte. Het buffet is ronduit slecht te noemen op vlak van kwaliteit (wel voldoende keuze en aanvulling). Ontbijt is iets beter, dit vindt plaats in de bar. Deze bar is iets gezelliger maar heeft ook zijn beste tijd gehad. Hetzelfde kan gezegd worden over het zwembad. Het personeel is correct maar daarmee is dan ook alles gezegd. De gangen zijn vochtig en warm. Er is geen parkeerplaats van het hotel zelf, enkel een openbare parking net voor het hotel. Deze staat elke dag en avond vol met wagens van strandgasten die niet in het hotel verblijven. De prijs is schappelijk, maar toch waren we blij dat we na 5 nachten terug konden vertrekken (zonder een specifiek incident of negatief voorval te hebben meegemaakt). La Gomera is mooi om te wandelen, maar Valle Gran Rey is een verschrikking als badplaats (oud, lelijk, kapot, etc.).

Lovely hotel. Excellent room recently upgraded. On b and b basis - had buffet evening meal two nights and ok but prefer to eat out. Breakfast very good . Pool area not big but always plenty sun beds and umbrellas.

Belle vue sur mer avec terrasse. Chambre classique mais très confortable. Le petit déjeuner est donné au troisième étage avec une très belle vue sur mer ou montagne. Également une piscine mais l 'eau était froide en Mars. Nous avons apprécié le verre de cava de bienvenue

Central location - friendly staff

This is a very good value for money hotel. The hotel is centrally located in Gran Rey. From the welcome glass of Cava at check in the staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful. Breakfast was good plenty of variety. If I stayed again I'd make sure I had a room at the front overlooking the ocean and sunset.

Das richtige Hotel für unseren Urlaub

Das Hotel Gran Rey liegt zwischen den Ortsteilen Puerto und La Playa im Valle Gran Rey, wo man jeweils viele Restaurants und Geschäfte findet. Das Hotel ist vom Kieselstrand durch eine wenig befahrene Straße getrennt. In wenigen 100 Metern Entfernung befindet sich der sogenannte Babybeach, eine kleine Bucht, die immer vor starker Brandung geschützt ist und wo man auch mit kleinen Kindern problemlos baden kann. Die meisten Gäste im Hotel waren während unseres Aufenthalts aus Deutschland. Viele Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption sprechen Deutsch und das gesamte Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Meerblick, im ersten Stock ist dieser allerdings nicht besonders hervorzuheben. Die Größe ist vollkommen ausreichend und an der Sauberkeit gab es nichts zu meckern. Je nach Brandung kann das Meeresrauschen recht laut sein. Die Straße wird nachts hingegen kaum befahren und hat uns nich gestört. In unmittelbarer Nähe gibt es zwei bis drei Bars, in denen gelegentlich auch Live-Musik gespielt wird, allerdings nicht bis spät in die Nacht. Wer auf Nummer sicher gehen möchte und es sehr ruhig mag, bucht besser ein Zimmer zur Landseite. Die Zimmer verfügen außerdem über eine Klimaanlage. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist vielfältig, aber wird über den Verlauf der Woche kaum variiert. Man kann sich Crepes, Rührei und Omlettes nach eigenem Wunsch zubereiten lassen. Wenn das Hotel gut ausgelastet ist, sind die Tischkapazitäten etwas knapp. Die Poolanlage ist super.
