"We stayed one night with half board for a quick trip to the Vosges. The hotel is very nice, modern, and clean with good parking. We used the pool, which was relaxing after a longish drive. We did not take advantage of the spa, although the treatments on offer seemed good (and I was tempted by the back massage). The dinner was great. It was a four-course meal with fresh salad and a very well appointed cheese selection. Before our departure, we also used the ping pong table in the garden, which...

Hotel Restaurant & Spa Verte Vallée

10/10 Excellent

"This was a great experience - we will absolutely be back. Fantastic hotel and great value for money!"

A large, charming waterfront retreat in Gérardmer. Spa / Sauna / Wi-Fi

8/10 Good

Chalet in a quiet location, private pond for fishing or swimming - 5 Bedrooms-

10/10 Excellent

Campanile Epinal Centre - Gare

8/10 Good

"It’s some years since I stayed in a Campanile and I think this one was a recent development. Very good , though rooms are quite small. Unpretentious but quite adequate breakfast, decent beer, very friendly & helpful staff, and even some simple pre-prepared meals, which saved us having to find a restaurant after a late arrival."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Vagney?

The best area to stay in Vagney is the town centre, particularly around Rue de l'Église and Place de la Mairie.

This central area is the heart of Vagney, offering easy access to the local shops, bakeries, and restaurants. It's a convenient base for exploring the town on foot, with the Mairie (Town Hall) and the church forming key landmarks. The weekly market, held nearby, is a popular local event.

For couples looking for a relaxed and authentic experience, staying in the town centre is ideal. You'll be able to enjoy leisurely strolls, sample local produce, and dine at traditional eateries without needing to travel far. It provides a genuine glimpse into local life.

Travellers seeking a tranquil retreat with good access to nature might prefer the outskirts of Vagney, particularly areas bordering the surrounding forests and the River Moselle. These spots often feature guesthouses or holiday rentals with views of the Vosges mountains, providing a peaceful setting.

This option is particularly suitable for those who enjoy outdoor activities.

When is the best time to go to Vagney?

The best time to visit Vagney for pleasant weather and outdoor activities is typically from late spring (May) to early autumn (September).

During these months, the weather is generally mild and agreeable, with warmer temperatures and less rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the Vosges mountains and enjoying the natural beauty of the region. July and August are the warmest months, superb for hiking, cycling, and water sports on nearby lakes.

For those interested in winter sports, the period from December to March offers excellent conditions for skiing and snowboarding in the nearby resorts. The landscape transforms into a snowy wonderland, providing a different but equally appealing experience.
