Historic Hotels & Resorts in Upper Lapland from AU$143

Nora, Jermu and Milla were incredible. They made our stay so easy and so special.

The hotel is right next to the national park so great for hiking. The hotel is also in the centre of Saariselkä which is compact and pedestrian friendly so this makes it easy if you’re using buses to get in and out of town and don’t have a vehicle. Breakfast and dinner at the restaurant are good. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly. Be aware that activities book out and so if you want to do more than hiking you’ll need to plan and book ahead.

Stunning rooms which are lovely and warm, private and comfortable bed. Plenty of things to do locally but a car is very useful

We stayed 1 night in an Aurora cabin during January. Unfortunatly we did not see the Northern Lights, as the weather was too cloudy, but we still enjoyed our glass roof cabin experience. The Aurora Cabins were very modern inside, and the glass roof was heated, for clear viewing of the sky. These cabins are facing the North, to maximise your chances of seeing the lights. The Star Artic Hotel resort is located on the top of a big hill, which offers really good views over Sarriselkä and Inari....

An all-around 10/10 bucket-list experience! Wow. Just... wow. I stayed here last night and I’m still buzzing. I watched the auroras dance all night long from the comfort of the warm glass igloo without even needing to step out into the cold. Hopping into the outdoor hot tub/spa area right next to the cabin under the stars was the absolute highlight.

Nice and comfortable stay.

This is wonderful place to stay. We had the kids with us and they we made to feel super welcome. The staff are great. Henna was a stand out. I hope I got the spelling right. They have reindeer on site to meet in the evenings. The accommodation ws very well thought out withheated floors to combat the minus 20 degrees. We had a car so it was easy to and from. The food was really nice and plenty of hot chocolate for everyone.

This is a truely magical place to stay. Every aspect from the accommodation to the food to the staff is excellent. Take advantage of the tours on offer with the knowledge guides. Was able to see the lights from our room nightly.

Amazing place to stay and view the aurora. Breakfast was exceptional! Our upgraded cottage was quite expensive but we enjoyed watching the northern lights from the heated windows. We just wish there was a sliding glass door in the shower to avoid getting the toilet seat and whole toilet floor wet.

Nice location and comfortable stay

We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Korpikartano. The room and bathrooms were both pretty small but you have to take into account the building’s history as it used to be a boarding school. One thing I will say is the activities and meals were pretty over priced m. 29 Euro per person for dinner each night was a bit ridiculous considering what it was. The hotel is located quite a way from the nearest town so unless you have your own transport, you don’t have a choice but to eat dinner at the hotel. It...
