About this property
Cedar Cabin: Luxe cabin with panoramic lake views
This stunning year-round three bedroom cottage is located on a private point directly overlooking the lake. You’ll love the large screened in porch, sunny deck with barbecue and complimentary propane, private dock, cozy woodstove, large modern kitchen with brand new appliances, huge bedrooms (with a king, a queen and a double bed), cedar-lined bathroom with shower, and comfortable lounge area with stunning lake views.
The gorgeous, recently built (2019) Cedar Cottage is part of Northern Skies Resort, a cottage resort with eight lakeside cabins that has been part of our family for over 80 years and is now owned and operated by the fourth generation owners - Robin, Fred and family.
This spacious cabin features soaring ceilings, hardwood floors and locally made kitchen cabinets, all new stainless steel appliances and a washing machine and dryer. The three bedrooms are all very spacious with a comfortable king, queen and double bed. We also have a crib and baby gear available for free if needed.
In spring and fall you can cozy up in front of the woodstove with a book and a beautiful view of the lake! Or head down to the beach for a sauna, swim and a campfire.
Cell coverage is very strong at the cabin and complimentary unlimited high speed wifi is available. However it`s also the perfect place to disconnect completely and enjoy the peace and serenity!
At night, star gazing is unparalleled and the northern lights can sometimes be seen. The property, lake and surrounding area have plenty of opportunities for canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding (we provide kayaks, canoes and SUPs for free), boating (we rent boats and motors), fishing, hiking and scenic drives. There is also a wood fired sauna, campfire area and sandy beach that is available for the use of all guests and private campfire pits can be rented. Guided fishing, hiking, paddling and arts experiences can be arranged.
The cabin is located in Algoma Country`s famous Mississaugi Valley, named after the wild and winding river that provides a stunning scenic drive at any time of year that starts just `up the road` - we highly recommend packing a picnic and taking a day to explore this beautiful route.
This part of the province - which is Anishinaabe territory - is remote and rugged, meaning it is free of the crowds common in cottage country and provincial parks. You will have unlimited privacy on your adventures.
The cabin is also a short drive away from quaint towns, First Nations, hamlets and farming communities that are full of talented craftspeople, artists and artisans whose skills have been passed down through generations. They have all the necessities you would need in terms of groceries and basic provisions.
The cottage is yours alone for the duration of your stay. You have your own private dock, two decks, and screened porch as well as private parking right at your cabin. All guests have access to another shared sandy beach and campfire area.
The resort owners live onsite seasonally and are available to make sure all of our guests` needs are met. We have an excellent knowledge of the lake and area and can provide guidance on things to do and see. However we will also ensure you are able to be solitary and private.
This part of Northern Ontario is famous around the world for its jaw-dropping scenery that inspired the Group of Seven landscape artists. Today its vast tracts of wilderness remain largely untouched and publicly accessible as Crown Land or Provincial Parks, with hundreds of miles of beautiful forests, winding rivers, thundering waterfalls and crystal clear lakes to explore. Day trips from the resort will bring you to quaint towns, friendly farming communities and welcoming First Nations full of talented craftspeople, makers and artisans as well as farmers markets, restaurants, cafes and breweries serving locally grown and produced food and drink.
Although we are located in a remote area, the resort is easily reached by car by way of a small highway just off the main Transcanada Highway. The closest airport is in Sault Ste. Marie (YAM). Air Canada and Porter Airlines fly in to the Sault, and car rental is available (advise arranging beforehand). You could also fly in to Chippewa Airport in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan (CIU). If you are coming from the Toronto area or southern/southwestern Ontario, a pleasant way to get here is to take the ChiCheemaun ferry from Tobermory to South Baymouth, Manitoulin Island.
We are dog friendly but dogs must be kept on leash while on resort property - there is an off leash area a short walk away. We charge a $50 pet cleaning fee.
As part of our commitment to reconciliation, Indigenous guests are eligible for Land Back Pricing which is 15% off the base price before HST. If you identify as Indigenous let us know if you would be interested in having 15% taken off your final balance. We charge a pet cleaning fee at $50 per dog - no other pets allowed.
