"This place is such a hidden gem due to its newness. Love that it is off on the north island so you can enjoy some peace and quiet but having the luxury of the scheduled ferry boat to take you to the South Island is really great. The room is very clean and modern. Also the bar/restaurant staff are incredible and they have some great eats. "
"I’ll start with the staff, because they represent the heart and soul of this hotel, Kimberly, Dane, Christopher, Aryel the bartender, who makes THE BEST dirty martini’s! And our servers who’s names I forget, however, who’s smiles and EXCELLENT service we cannot! From the housekeeping staff who kept our room immaculate to the brother who picked us up and dropped us off at the airport, this didn’t feel like a hotel, everyone made us feel like family! There aren’t enough words to describe how delicious the food and drinks are, from breakfast to dinner, food was at least 5 stars! Although there isn’t a gym or pool…yet, they’re working on it and you’d expect more noise from the construction and yet, we slept like babies with zero noise while in our room and minimal while enjoying breakfast on the roof deck. What surprised me was the shopping center attached to the hotel, prices were reasonable and the people were friendly, Justin is such a warm young man, and yeah, if it sounds like I’m a fan boy, I am! I have travelled extensively and mainly booked resorts, from London, Paris to Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taiwan, Jamaica (my homeland), Costa Rica, Luxembourg, Amsterdam, L.A. and of course my current home Manhattan, and Golden Bay has proven to be one of our favorite places in the world…so far! This hotel’s most valuable resource is its people! We will be back in two months, and bringing more of our family because the employees of Golden Bay made us feel like family. God Bless Golden Bay! "
"Loved everything about it-- location, comfortable beds, great pool and friendly wonderful staff. Make sure and have a few with the great bartender- Bol. I definitely would stay there again."
"Great property for the price. A clean basic room and great staff. The restaurant was horrible, very expensive, very limited menu ( vegan and gluten free) I couldn’t find anything for dinner . Portions were very small for the price, a dingle glass of wine was $16 USD, then they add a10% service fee and 12.5% tax and state it does not go to the employee serving you 😳 $50 USD ONE WINE AND ONE SMALL ENTREE!! Ruined the experience for me . This was in an area that isnt safe yo walk at night, so you are held hostage "
"Shaka Caye (pronounced “Key” for the ignorant to proper pronunciation like myself), was absolute paradise. My wife and I had an amazing vacation. Whether you go just to relax on the beach like we did or want to plan as many excursions as possible, there really is something for everyone. The staff are all so kind and helpful. The chef was amazing. Special shoutout to Daisy, Percy, Roddy, and Michael who were there for most of, if not all, of our stay, It’s A+ service, minimal thinking required, just sit back and enjoy. We will definitely come back."
"Modern and newly renovated room, spacious and clean. Lovely grounds and pool area. The house is gated and that felt extra safe.
Downside was thin walls. We could hear guests in other rooms through the walls."
"Everything was just as pictured. Food was really good but pricey as expected for a hotel like this. There is not much around the hotel but it felt safe and staff were very helfpul."
"I booked this hotel for the pool. Within 2 minutes of booking, they sent me a note saying their pool is under construction. I requested to cancel. They told me to contact Expedia. Expedia told me to contact the property. We didn't stay there and both the hotel and Expedia have refused a refund."
