Booked for an Easter break with family after having to cancel 2 breaks due to Covid. After being sent a text to pick up keys and that said the property was ready, we entered the building to find a stale Smokey smell as if the unit hadn’t been tended to in a while. We soon realised that majority of the fly screens were broken or not even on, and that the balcony doors failed to close or lock, posing a large safety risk for children. Linen wasn’t there as we had booked and paid for.
After being met with quite some resistance and attitude from the real estate, we were told a handy man would be sent. 2 hours on he arrived and only to tell us this wasn’t a 5 min job and that these screens and doors needed replacing.
After contacting the real estate again, and having trouble getting anyone to talk to..we advised we wouldn’t even stay the night, after previously being advised by real estate that a solution was offered to us and it was non refundable.
When we repeated what the maintenance man had said, and several phone calls and emails later, about the fact that my children or any children could easily climb and fall from the non secure door/balcony…we were met with a different attitude and our money was said to be refunded.
Money was eventually refunded, but a huge amount of stress and a bad start to a long awaited holiday, having to run around in the night with children trying to find somewhere else asap and argue that it was a safety problem and obviously the unit had not been checked. Save yourself the time and stress I say. Not worth the effort.
