About this property
Historic Tucson Desert Cozy Stone 1BR Apartment
We’re not a polished resort. Not even close, and frankly, that’s the point. The unit you’re staying in is full of quirks, creaks, and surprises that come with age, and you might notice that some updates are still waiting their turn. With that comes a rare chance to stay inside a piece of history.
We ask for your grace and a spirit of adventure. The space may be a little rough around the edges but full of warmth and soul. Your stay directly supports our mission to breathe life into the ranch.
The Space: A comfortable studio with a queen size bed to allow for the cozy space. You will find the quaint kitchen stocked with all your essentials: coffee pot, a small fridge, utensils, full stove with an oven, and pots and pans. Relax outside with your morning coffee and/or sit outside at sunset to see the beautiful mountain lines, saguaros and be amazed to be visited by some wildlife. This is a desert ranch, so there are some desert-aware instructions your hosts will provide when you arrive! Come stay and enjoy our unique accommodations!
This unit is part of a ground level 3-plex.
Tucson Mountain Guest Ranch – Stay with History, Heart, and a Few Quirks
Welcome to our little corner of the desert, where saguaros stand tall, time moves slower, and every crack in the adobe has a story to tell.
The Tucson Mountain Guest Ranch isn’t your average getaway—it’s part of a living restoration project rooted in care, patience, and deep respect for the past. Once a retreat for legends like John Wayne, Clark Gable, and Eleanor Roosevelt, the ranch holds decades of desert lore in its sunbaked bones. Most of the structures here date back to the 1930s and 1940s, and while we’re working hard to bring them back to life, it’s a process we’re taking organically and delicately—just a small group of folks with a lot of love for this land.
So come enjoy the desert, the old-world charm, the imperfect beauty—and be a part of something bigger than a vacation. Be part of the story.
Escape to Tucson Mountain Guest Ranch – Where Adventure and Relaxation Meet
At the Tucson Mountain Guest Ranch, you’re not just staying in the desert—you’re immersed in it. With 31 units (some currently undergoing beautiful restoration), our ranch offers the perfect blend of modern comfort and historic charm. Whether you're looking for outdoor adventure or a peaceful retreat, this is where you’ll find it.
Explore the Best of Tucson Mountain Park: Just steps from your door, you can hike the ranch’s Wash, which leads you directly to the famous Yetman Trailhead in 15 minutes. Or, set off to discover the Bowman Trail—both trails offering breathtaking views and a close encounter with Tucson's unique geological wonders.
Nature at Its Best: Tucson Mountain Park is home to dramatic rock formations, vast desert vistas, and a rich variety of desert wildlife. It’s the perfect destination for hikers, nature lovers, and anyone looking to escape into the beauty of the American Southwest.
After a day of adventure, relax in the comfort of our guest ranch, where you’ll find a peaceful atmosphere, stunning sunsets, and the serene beauty of the desert all around you.
Your next great desert escape starts here.

The space is rented as is. It is nowhere near "perfect" and have some quarks and characters to say the least. It is an old structure, a historically important old structure. So please be mindful of delicateness of some things. We thank you so much in advance for your understanding of its imperfection at the moment.

This place is absolutely wonderful. For as old as it is it carries such a rustic charm. Our kitchen had everything we needed refrigerator stove oven dishes silverware coffee maker and nice flavorful coffee pods to put into it. The bathrooms have nice towels and a couple extra towels placed nice and neatly on our bed. The bed was made very nicely and you could tell great care was taken in keeping with the rustic charm while being clean. Going to a hotel today you never know what you're going to get. Here you can rest assured they are clean. The pool although cold was fabulous in the heat. And the hot tub was nice and warm as you had a view that overlooked the mountains and the cactuses and the City. It was only 6 mi from the University of Arizona. My daughters told me they look forward to coming back. So I want to thank each and every one of you, you are absolutely wonderful! I hope more so into this amazing restoration in this Historic Resort#20 room
