Cabin with private lake access on Cedar Cliff Lake
Welcome neighbor! We’ve decided to share our family’s lake retreat. This is not a full-time rental so it will have many homey touches and not be a sterilized hotel-like rental, if that is what you are looking for. Most of the neighbors are family too (one neighboring house is available on this platform).
This cabin was the first house built during the construction of Cedar Cliff Lake and features millstones from the old grist mill on the front porch. Pine paneling in most rooms give a warm glow to this cabin while a large front porch and enclosed side sunroom let you enjoy the surrounding nature and lake-views. Extensive yard features a fire pit, and there is access to a dock on the lake shared with a neighboring property (also available).
Please be aware Cedar Lake is at reduced pool since 2018 for dam repairs, which should be completed sometime in 2024.
The main bedroom has a queen size bed and a washer & dryer. The smaller bedroom features a full and twin Murphy bed with Disney theme. The den sofa has a pull-out queen bed for additional sleeping space. (Sleeps 7)
Many family members own pets, so this is a pet friendly rental, but please ensure a single animal under 20 pounds, and no damage occurs. Most neighbors have dogs who are not on leashes, but we ask guests to keep dogs on leash since they will be new to the neighborhood canines.
Please be aware the cabin is in the beautiful southern Appalachian mountains, therefore wildlife is abundant. Bears, snakes, spiders, etc. are common, as are deer, turkey, heron, and occasionally bald eagles. Keep a respectful distance from wildlife, and store garbage appropriately.
There is a short stretch of county maintained dirt road required to access the lake and cabin, so arrival during daylight is recommended if possible, but the driveway is asphalt.
Smoking permitted OUTSIDE ONLY! Grill available upone request. RING doorbells are in place, as are outdoor security cameras including one in the enclosed sun porch. NO cameras are in living areas. We hope you’ll enjoy your visit to our cabin on Cedar Cliff Lake as much as we do!

So peaceful and quiet. Loved seeing the history of the cabin in the photos hung throughout. Had a family camp fire and made smoores. The view of the lake breathtaking.
This cabin is exactly as described. It’s a perfect place for a private getaway. Greg was very good at responding to my questions and made my stay very comfortable.
This is our second stay at the cabin, both times were wonderful. This is a great cabin for families and Greg is an amazing host. We love staying at this cabin and can't wait to go back!

Owner was very communicative and responsive. Cabin was comfortable and had a great view of the lake.
This cabin sits above a beautiful quiet lake and is wonderfully centrally located to destination spots like Cashiers and Sapphire, Maggie Valley and Cherokee, and Franklin and Bryson City. It is an ideal place to stay if you are into hiking and chasing waterfalls, as there are plenty around. The host is highly communicative and accomadating. I would stay here again. It was great for two people, but I would think it tight for four adults (even with the two bedrooms), given the overall size of the home and the fact that there is only a small single bath.It fit our needs perfectly.
Great location, Great views, Great host. Had a great time kayaking literally right in front of house. Everything you need Greg has. House has everything including internet. We will be back.
We stayed at Greg's for our fall break and had an enjoyable time. The cabin is secluded and is right on the lake but it is in such a great location that we were able to visit, Cashiers, Cherokee, Highlands and Whitewater Falls. There were only two of us but the cabin could have easily housed a family for a great vacation. Greg was a great communicator and we plan and returning when we go back to the mountains. I highly recommend this place.
I cannot say enough about this cabin and its host. The cabin was spacious and as a family of 7 we had lots of space. There was heaters in the rooms which helped so much! The host was amazing and really did everything that we asked or needed and more. The views are stunning and peaceful. It was a pleasure.
Greg is the best! Anything we had questions about or needed was handled right away. The property is across from the lake and is beautiful. A fire in the pit at night staring at a mountain with the moon shining down on you was just wonderful. The weather was in transition so we enjoyed 70° days one week followed by snow the next!
Stayed at property for a wedding at Ladyhawke. Appreciated location in relation to castle. Arriving at night was a bit sketchy as the darkness and cell service were not my friends. But was pleasantly surprised in the morning to see the beautiful surroundings and the colors for the autumn trees were amazing. Highly suggest that you arrive in daylight.
Absolutely love staying at Greg’s place. Not my first time. If you are lucky enough to get a reservation (usually booked up) you will keep coming back. Super cool home with I’m sure lots of history. Location Location Location, the view of Cliff Lake is amazing, Kayaking made easy, short walk across the front yard and your on Greg’s dock hopping in your kayak going for a beautiful cruise on a beautiful lake. Fishing is great too. For those who like to relax no need to leave property, rocking chairs on front porch a kitchen that has everything you need to fix great meals while enjoying the view on the front porch. When you have to go out for supplies dollar store is less than 10 minutes away. The only drawback is you do actually have to leave eventually. Greg thanks for everything and will see you soon.
The location of this cozy cabin on the beautiful Cedar Cliff Lake made our stay exceptional. The host, Greg, was very responsive and friendly. Great getaway from the hustle and bustle!
Such a wonderful stay! Greg is great as a property manager. This place has everything! So beautiful!! We begged to stay an extra night it was so good! Thank you Greg!
What a great spot! Cabin was just as we expected. Greg was extremely responsive. Within 30 minutes of great towns to visit. We will definitely be back.
This cabin and property was perfect for our ambitions of kayaking mountain lakes. We loved our view of the lake and mountains from the porch and spent lots of time of Cedar Cliff Lake and also a trip to Wolf Creek Lake. The cabin was comfortable and well equipped. The dock was a big bonus, not only for paddling but also taking a couple chairs for sunset on the lake. Shook Cove is a hidden treasure and we look forward to returning
We loved staying at this cabin! Greg provided the perfect instructions for reaching the property and we found it with no problem. He was a gracious host and all other instructions were great, too! Easy check in, easy check out. We enjoyed two very comfortable nights' sleeps and the quiet and serene surroundings for spending time on the front porch. It was perfect temperature, plenty of kitchen amenities, and a nice hot shower. I will say the property is DARK and it is QUIET! Perfect for our stay! We were staying there for a wedding at the nearby Bear Lake Reserve so we didn't get to spend as much time enjoying the lake as we would have liked but we can't wait to go back! The cabin is close to downtown Sylva and other attractions where we explored a little and had some delicious food and drinks. If you are looking for secluded and relaxing environment to spend a few days, I highly recommend Greg's spot!
