"This is unique accommodation... in some ways it felt like going on school camp (the room) but with the most delicious french 4 course meal (which was anything but camp food!). The main building was covered in scafolding / maintenance which was a shame but the public bath was excellent. The shuttle service was excellent and service at dinner impeccable. Someone mentioned bugs and I thought they were being dramatic, but no, there are stink bugs everywhere!!! If that bothers you then probably not the property for you. I enjoyed my stsy for one night and will remember the dinner for a long time to come it was wonderful"

"We had a lovely experience. Using the shuttle bus is crucial as a taxi would be expensive due to the distance. We had a fancy dinner they offer; very beautifully presented but you need to love Japanese food; lots of raw fish. Oddly, coffee with the breakfast was an additional charge. Overall, we really loved our stay."

Everyone was welcoming, kind, and helpful. Nothing can match the experience of soaking in your own hot spring, while watching hummingbirds feeding on an overhanging tree. I hope to someday come back to Japan and visit onsen and Garden Nana once more."

"Wataya = WOW! From the second we arrive... I'm so happy Aaron chose this place. The staff is a family that has owned and operated this wonderful house for 7 generations! We chill in the onsen chatting loudly as we are the only guests today, return to the room to relax looking at the garden during twilight. Dinner is served! We did a poor job at informing them of my friend's restricted diet... The proprieter is so generous! She grabs a frozen pizza from her home to feed my buddy... I'm stuffed by beer, pickled vegetables, traditional soup, local river caught fish displayed alive on skewers then COOKED TO DEATH! Followed by BEAR MEAT! Literal apex predator of the forest in my mouth. It's pretty great. Delightful sliced steak then green tea mousse with some fruit for dessert. We have to hit the onsen before bed. So pleasantl I hit the onsen tub alone, bodywash, hop in and acclimate while watching YouTube. Some pleasuring women, some women behavior, some news. Breakfast is served at 8 as requested. I eat alone as Aaron doesn't want anything they have. Pickled vegetables, river fish, light soup, egg, grilled salmon, local orange and strawberry with fresh rice. Rice milk, water and great coffee! I love this place so much... Return to my room, we take a selfie with the garden, pack up and check out. The proprieter and his mother see us off in a taxi."

It was the friendliest, warmest reception we've received. In fact, the entire staff was the pinnacle of good hospitality. From the front desk to the wait staff, everyone was amazing to interact with. Those who didn't speak English at all still made such an effort to answer our questions and help us. Everyone had a friendly, cheerful disposition - it genuinely felt like they were happy we were there and that they took pride in their amazing service. We loved the private baths, especially the outdoor open air one. The hot water was the perfect temperature and it left our skin feeling incredible. The lobby was great - it felt very cozy, warm, and welcoming. Like we were in our own home. The robot mascot was so much fun and we delighted in interacting with him and watching others (especially the children staying in the hotel, who seemed to find him magical) interacting with him.
