Our room was very clean and accessible. The front lobby/breakfast area was charming and cozy. Breakfast was adequate but minimal. Lots of granola bars. The location was convenient and easy to get to. My only complaint was that the gal at the front desk seemed a bit grumpy, but maybe she was just tired.

We arrived to check in and there was no one at the desk. After 10 minutes, a clerk showed up from outside of the building. The stairs to the second floor were steep with higher steps than normal. A bit harder for seniors like us. The room looked clean. The bed wasn’t comfortable. Luckily we were just there for one night.

So, I would put it at 4 1/2 stars... Stayed two nights in late July, 2026. After booking, my wife read some negative reviews on the property and was concerned. I felt it was too late to change so we stayed here anyway. I'm glad we did. We had a very good stay! The staff was very good. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The A/C unit was a little bit of trial and error but once I got it set, the AC was great! The shower was hot with great water pressure! It's not downtown and, realistically, not within walking distance to downtown. But it's a very short drive and parking downtown is not terrible. Yes, it is an old property and can use some updating. But, again, it is all clean and serviceable. It's a Very good value for the area and time of year. Finally, linens and towels were clean and free of stains and there were no ants, spiders or bugs of any kind in the room. (These were the things my wife had read about and was concerned about.) My wife ended up being very happy with the stay and said she would be happy to stay here again on our next trip to Traverse City.

Very dated motel. Stayed here for the nostalgia, as I grew up going to HoJo's around the US. Check in was ok, but no one there to check out. Stairs to the room were rusty with peeling paint. Crumbling sidewalks. Felt unsafe. Shower curtain had that foul, sour smell--needs to be soaked in bleach or disinfectant. A real turn off. Beds seemed clean and we're comfy. Breakfast was surprisingly good--hard-boiled eggs, oatmeal, cereal, breakfast bars, muffins, juices, coffee, and best of all, yogurt, and not the cheap stuff! If you upgraded the appearance, I think this would be a great improvement! Busy area in TC, but overall, quiet. One last thing--the curtains on front windows did not close completely.

So they only have 2 rooms with the heart shaped jetted tubs that they show in the pictures. That was what i thought i was getting and did not. The other jetted tub was fine just disappointed that what was advertised was not what i got. Bed was very comfortable, slept great. Shower was good. Good for the price. Would stay there again.
