The staff were nice and accommodating as I had to alter my booking during a busy weekend for Townsville. The location was convenient, the stand is a nice place to stay, walking distance to everything we needed. The room itself needs renovations/repairs and was quite dirty.

Great location. Unable to lock window on arrival but it was fixed later in the day after we advised. While clean it could do with some paint and freshening up. Dinner meal was nice but they forgot to put in a few listed ingredients. We felt comfortable enough staying here for the price we paid.

I love Hotel Allen but feel it is desperately in need of money being spent on it ie new paint, refurbishment etc. When it rained the window leaked on to the single bed in my room so I'm happy there was nobody sleeping in that bed. But otherwise it was quiet, clean, excellent location, enjoyed swimming in the pool. If I had the money I'd buy it myself, sitting on a gold mine in the location etc

I was there for 5 nights. I found the staff to be quite friendly. Overall, I was happy with my stay. My only gripe is the cleanliness. There was hair all over the floor and toilet lid (I’m bald so I know it wasn’t mine!), and when I spoke to ‘housekeeping’ they directed me to the vacuum cleaner for me to clean it up. I just didn’t think I should have to do that considering I was the guest and I didn’t just pay for 1 night.

We loved the location. Shops across the road plenty of restaurants very close by and very short walk to the Strand. The staff were wonderful very helpful. The pool area was very nice. The food in the restaurant was amazing and meals were very big. The bad was the rooms they were awful. Paint peeling from the walls and ceilings. No towel racks, shower in a dreadful condition as was the handbasin, nowhere to put anything. The beds were quite old and not very comfortable.The jug in the room smelt of mould so we didn't use it.The whole room needed to be gutted and redone. Would we stay here again.NO. we checked out a day early and I was very surprised that they very kindly refunded our last night. So much to like at this place but the rooms leave so much to be desired.
