"Was returning home from another country,1st flight 2 Frankfurt was delayed/Airport was Huge.Lost,couldn't find tram driver 2transport me FAR AWAY 2Gate Z-66 from Gate, then my plane had departed to Denver.Rebooked by United 2 LAX but next connecting plane to Honolulu was the Next Day so I had to quickly find a LA Hotel w/ShuttleVan from airport. Hotels.com App showed a "Best Western Plus Newport Mesa" that stated it had a Airport Shuttle Van pick up & also mentioned that it was about 30+ miles from LAX.It was a good price & I booked it & added Travel Protection. Then I called the hotel to ask where I should go when I arrived in LAX to meet the Van? A woman answered and said, "We don't Pick Up From LAX." Then my Boarding started, I told her that info Hotels.com listed the distance from LAX, so "Why would they Do That if they Do NOT Pick Up,Drop off there?" She sounded exasperated & said, "Why Do They DO THAT?! I couldn't cancel it. Then I had Quickly Find another hotel, which was the Courtyard Marriott & they were very slow w/ pickup but I got there.I reported to Hotels.com's Insurance Co. But they said my need to cancel wasn't covered & BEST WESTERN REFUSED to waive the 1 night stay. DON'T BOOK THERE if You land in LAX. I am pursuing this further to Dispute the Charge."

"I checked in desperately needing rest and asked for a quiet room and the head of my bed was next to the elevator shaft! Ugh! The hotel staff did apologize and make amends and now I know to look out for that in the future. I was over the moon with the view of the room which over looked the courtyard and had a cute faux fireplace and couch in it. The bed's very comfortable. The pillows were great as well. The patio has a great happy hour (I think it's a great OC secret) but be careful to ask what drinks are on the happy hour because they won't automatically tell you. I ordered a great Caprese salad and it was delicious but the flat bread on happy hour is a half order not the full size you get ordering at dinner. Still very delicious. I was incredibly surprised that they don't serve lattes. I think this would be an upgrade worth considering especially as they have a bistro style and latte machines are easy. They do serve Prosecco and that is a win. The indoor restaurant is also great with a good full menu. Wandered over to the cute pool area and all the tables were a mess with food crumbs so could've used better cleanup but was able to use the hot tub a couple of times without issue or crowds. Staff was very nice, especially on the patio."
