Visit Bundanon Stay at Heron's Rest @ Tapitallee Lodges
Looking at visiting Bundanon Art Museum? The Boyd Education Centre? The new development at Riversdale? Tapitallee Lodges are the closest affordable accommodation. Heron's Rest is pet friendly with the restriction being two small dogs. Big dogs, a dam close by, cattle next door and a tiled floor do not mix. If you need to get away and relax then Heron's Rest is for you, it's also a pretty romantic get away. After so many marriage proposals here ask us if we can located some roses, champagne and chocolates. Give us a bit of time and we can do a package for that proposal, anniversary, apology or an attempt for Brownie Points. Built on the edge of a farm dam Heron's Rest has a wonderful pontoon out the front with seating for four, a small fire box and a view which will blow away all those cares and worries. Inside there is a modern fully equipped kitchen and living room. Each bedroom has its own large ensuite and queen sized bed. There is a large amount of storage in each ensuite. Your booking is for the whole cottage. If you require the second bedroom just let us know. There is only ever one booking at a time in Heron's Rest so you will never have to share with anyone. Although not built as being wheelchair friendly Heron's Rest has proved easy for a person in a small wheelchair to get around inside. The ensuites consist of a fixed head and a hand held shower head. As this property is right on the edge of a dam children will need parental supervision. Berry and Kangaroo Valley are about 20 minutes away and we are the closest accommodation to Riversdale and Bundanon. It is an easy trip to the surf at Seven Mile Beach, Jervis Bay and Huskisson. Riversdale, the Arthur and Yvonne Education Centre is close by. Bundanon is spending $30 million building a new gallery, coffee shop and education accommodation. The new close by horse stables and round yards will soon be finished. The Boyd homestead is also open on Saturday and Sunday. It is also worth the trip to the Cambewarra Lookout for breakfast or for my favourite, the curly fries. And if you really want the best of the best go to Flame in North Nowra and ask for their garlic prawns and bread to mop up the sauce. The prawns are not on the menu so you have to ask for them. If you are really hungry try their pork ribs which are to die for plus the Greek salad and pizza. To be really decadent try their pizzas as well. I’m not on commission but these young people are tops. If you are into the best fish and chips, actual awards, go to the Pelican Rocks at Greenwell Point, breakfast and lunch only. How about high tea at Cambewarra Estate? Other than the lookout you will need to book ahead. With Flame you will need to order the ribs and prawns.

Very pleasant and quiet, as one would expect being 20 minutes out in the country from Nowra. Host was welcoming and not intrusive. Amenities were modern and clean with everything you needed. There was no Wi-Fi and had to rely on 4G phone (1 or 2 bars). Nice view over the dam with lots of water lilies, ducks and frogs in the evening.
The property is set off a very picturesque lagoon full of beautiful pink lilies. it superbly quiet which made our stay so relaxing. its situated close enough to the local amenities that a quick 15-minute drive you can get supplies if needed. the hosts were fantastic and were available if you needed anything. i would highly recommend Tapitallee Lodges for a relaxing stay
Unique setting, comfort charm and great bird watching
Heron’s Rest was a great find. It offered a unique setting to relax in comfort and was only a few minutes away from Bundanon and the excellent gallery there. We used it as a base to explore the Shoalhaven Trev and Carol were helpful unobtrusive hosts with good local advice to share. We enjoyed our stay at Heron’s Rest very much. And there were wombats!
Had an absolutely wonderful stay at Heron’s Rest for 3 nights. We attended a wedding at Bundanon and staying here meant we only had a 5 minute drive! It was a lovely surprise to find freshly home baked bread upon our arrival and we ate it all! We slept serenely at night and enjoyed all the amazing wildlife during the day!
Thanks ao much for having us!
Our stay for 3 weeks was so enjoyable, in a delightful and peaceful setting away from the busy Nowra and beachside places. We were very comfortable with owners generously supplying essentials including pantry items. We would recommend this property.
We chose to have a very quiet Xmas this year. Staying for 4 nights at Heron’s Rest was peaceful calm and serene. The surroundings and scenery are beautiful with the dam taking centre stage with lotus flowers bobbing and blooming. A glass of wine on the pontoon and watching our dog get control of her
‘Pontoon legs’ was very entertaining! We had everything we needed in the accommodation. The skyscraper loaf of bread was sublime. We would definitely return. Thanks again to our hosts.
The impression of the property is pretty much as you see in the pictures, with some more lilli pads out on the water. My eldest son and I stayed for two nights. The hosts, Trev and Carol were a friendly couple. who made our stay Upon entering the holiday house there was a bottle of red and a freshly baked loaf of bread and nibbles. In the fridge were all the fresh ingredients for a hearty breakfast in the morning. A large wombat moseyed across the balcony. We left the windows open both evenings to listen to the chorus of different frog sounds. In the mornings skinks a small water dragons sun baked on the pontoon in the morning sun. I highly recommend a stay at the Heron's Rest @ Tapitalee Lodges. We look forward to going back there again. Thanks Trev and Carol

Heron’s Rest was peaceful and relaxing. Fantastic setup with everything you need and very friendly hosts.
Trevor's hospitality really made this trip - he has wonderful communication and I was welcomed with a warm loaf of fresh bread and other goodies. The place was serene and beautiful. Can't wait to visit again.
Lovely position, nicely set out and lovely touches from the owners (fresh flowers and home made bread - thanks Trev) .. we’ll stocked pantry and brekkie supplies
If your looking for a little slice of heaven then this is the place to stay... Absolutely gorgeous views great location & amazing hosts.... You will never want to leave... We absolutely loved it 😊

It was a perfect stay close to the Arthur Boyd arts centre at Bundanon. The host was very welcoming and the homemade bread was the best. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, although the night song of frogs in the pond did add to the rural scene.
We enjoyed 3 nights. Trevor was very helpful and accommodating. Kitchen is well stocked, with plenty of first breakfast goodies provided.
Our miniature schnauzer really enjoyed himself.

Picturesque setting and incredibly well resourced! Left you wanting for nothing. Farm fresh eggs, freshly baked bread all on arrival. As Trevor told me on arrival you will not starve lol :) Great comfy bed. Quiet, can't really fault it. We really recommend a stay here at Herons Rest

Fantastic hosts provide generous and personalized amenities - everything you need. Setting is the most beautiful natural environment you could imagine. Pond immediately out the front door with pontoon pier and patio provided perfect opportunity to be among the birds while enjoying a snack and drink. Spacious rooms to relax, sparking and clean on arrival. Nearby points of interest. We loved it and would highly recommend for a great experience and stay.
Trev n carol are amazing people. Our time there was a beautiful escape, it was an escape from the busy life we have. Incredible and relaxing. We celebrated our anniversary there and I can tell you it was perfect for us. We were both delighted with the loaf of bread Trev made which was beautifully made. Thank you Trev n carol we hope to come back again

The cottage overlooks the wide section of a creek which is filled with lotus and waterlilies, and it has a wooden pontoon which we found perfect for breakfasts and sundowners. The cottage is comfortable and peaceful, and we liked the facts that the interior is simple and unfussy, that the property is dog friendly and that there are things to do in the area if you're so inclined, but what we really appreciated was the generous supply of breakfast items, especially the fresh baked bread. Thank you Trev and Carol.
Apart for the exquisite location (3km from Bundanon) and tranquil meals on the pontoon, what stood out for us was the generosity of Trevor and Carol. Fresh baked bread, and a fridge equipped with bacon, eggs, milk. Many more thoughtful touches. There was no WiFi but there was reasonable 3/4G so that was not a problem. Highly recommended.
Trevor was extremely welcoming and reached out to ensure that we could find our way as we arrived after dark!
The lodge was well stocked, comfortable and had all we needed and extras too to make our stay special.
Would highly recommend :D
