Firstly I would like to say that the person who wrote this review was not the guest who made the booking and was not the guest who checked in to the hotelWhen the guest checked in to the hotel they were sent up to the room they were allocated on the booking system.The cleaner the day before had not cleaned the room as he ran out of time before he finished his shift that day but he did not inform the front desk before he left.When the hotel was made aware the original room had not been serviced the guest was moved to a similar room to the one that had been originally bookedThe guest was in the room for several hours before they emailed Expedia and complained the bench topshad not been cleaned and there was an insect in one of the coffee cups ( they did not contact the hotel front desk at this time ) Expedia contacted the hotel with the guest's complaints and the cleaner was sent up to the room. When the cleaner went to the room he could not any insect in the coffee cups and the guest had not taken a pic on their phone showing the insect in the coffee cup.The guest wanted to check out at this point.The guest'soriginal booking was for 5 nights and was aware thatthe hotel cancellation policy was the guest had to give 72 hours notice of cancellation to get the remainder of the booking refundedThe hotel decided only to charge one nights cancellation fee not 3 nights Rob Davies.....Manager

HiThank you for your review, sorry the accommodationdid not suit you.The room you booked was a superior twin room.The room pictures on expedia website are actuallyof your room No109 which is a superior twin roomThe expedia website clearly states there is only streetparking available.The street parking directly in front of the hotel is generally 2 hour parking 8.30am to 3.30 pm,no parking 8.30 to 9.30 am and 2.30 and 3.30 because of the school zone,and after 3.30 pm until 8.30am the following day is unrestricted.As for there being no lift available, the Expedia website clearly states there is hotel does not have a lift availableThe level entry to the hotel from the street is to the second floor of the hotel and the reception ares.From the reception area there is only one flight of stairs up to the the third floor or down one flight of stairs to the first floorAs for the sheets not being satisfactory, the sheets come direct from the commercial laundry and are ironed ready for the cleaners to to put on the beds when they service the room.It is the hotel policy if any guest complains about the sheets we change them weather there is a genuine reason or not ( which happened in this case )As for the building being for sale the current ownerwho just turned 82 years old is retiring after runningthe Charrington Hotel successfully for the last 42 yearsI am surprised that you found the staff unfriendly as most of the reviews of the hotel on Expedia website say they found the staff very friendlyRob Davies.....Owner
