OK for short stay
Small property that allows pets. Property would be fine for 2 people. Great location close to Kings. Unfortunately the parking in carport is terrible so park on the street, if you can get one. Big step down into property at front door so use the back door. Step down to toilet. I had taken elderly parents and Unfortunately this was not easy for them with parking or the big drops as mentioned above. After having to clean sand off the beds and coffee stains off seats we settled in ok. Plenty of ants to contend with and a couple of bugs at night (fly spray was provided). A parent had to be taken to hospital and the ambulance had a lot of problems getting parent out of property and could not get the ambulance down driveway. Overall not ideal for us but could see younger families enjoying short stays here.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I hope your parent is okay. That situation must have been very upsetting for you. Regarding your dissatisfaction about the step down into the property, it's not more than a standard step.. Some guests with specific difficulty navigating steps and surfaces etc message me about specifics needs before they book or arrive. I would have been more than happy to go into any specific needs you might have had, but you didn't contact me regarding anything like that. We market pet friendly accommodation and our listing photos show the entrance door and back deck. I have tried to describe in detail as well as photos, to form an accurate description of the cottage. Parking can be tricky
Whilst we realised that the cottage was at the back of the property we did not realise that the only access was just wide enough to drive down and then we must reverse out. We travelled in a Ford Ranger as our smaller car was in for repair and we had to exit or enter the car outside of the carport making sure the mirrors were not extended. The cottage itself was lovely.

Kings beach location
Comfortable accommodation close to Kings Beach and pool. Great for our little dog. Worst thing was the car port which was tight especially a pain to reverse out to the street! Otherwise enjoyable stay..

Salty dog adventure
It was our annual trip to caloundra enjoyed with family. The cousins were comfortable and it was so nice to be able to bring our dog. The location is awesome- so close to kings beach too- we were able to walk down the hill for an early morning swim.

Lovely little quick stayover
You have provided us with a lovely little place. Quiet, central to shops and beach. Very clean with all amenities, eg wash and dryer, fully equip kitchen. I would love the chance to come again for a stopover!

We had a wonderful stay at the Salty dog. Everything you could possibly need right at yiur finger tips. Easy clean surfaces for pets and comfortable beds snd couch for the humans. Short walks to the beach, parks and cafes! Highly recommend staying here. We will be back 🐾

The house was central to beaches, cafes etc or a quick drive to anywhere else. Very dog friendly and the owners were very helpful and courteous (especially when you lock yourself out) Would go back here again

Didn't feel like a Cottage felt like a shed at back of house.
We where very disappointed in our accommodation, Sleeps 6, in one bedroom has a double bunk bed and 2 single beds, very small room, no cupboards or set of draws for clothes, Main bedroom Queen bed. Only a 3 Seater sofa, and very small dinning table with 4 chairs. All furniture very Tired and old style. Doona covers on single beds and bunk beds stained and old. The cottage doesn't suite 6 people.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Salty Dog Cottage. I'm very surprised to hear of your disappointment with the cottage. Your booking request was for 2 adults and your little dog, so I'm unsure as to why you are so disappointed 6 people seemingly don't fit in the cottage... We've had families with children, couples and friend groups stay at the cottage and while it is a cottage, it suits a wide variety of people. Most of our guests mention the cleanliness of the cottage, are stoked to be able to take their pet along and are more than happy with the cottage for their needs. I have written the listing description to best describe the space for guests to make an informed choice. Photos also make up part of the listing description. For future guests' reference, as per listing pictures, there are drawers for clothing in the 2nd bedroom. Your interpretation of the space versus your stay with just your wife and dog seems out of proportion. I do hope you find more suitable accommodation for your next trip. All the best 🙂

Dog friendly cottage
Very clean cottage that had everything we needed. We were asked to provide our own sheets and towels which was fine. We also took our own doonas which was a good idea. Great secure back yard for our 2 small dogs. Excellent location for walking our dogs & had plenty of nearby cafes etc. Highly recommend this property.

Very comfortable, great location
We (hubby, dog and I) had a great weekend at Salty Dog Cottage. The place was very clean, the bed comfy and the location fantastic - just a short walk to a choice of beaches, including one that was dog friendly. The kitchen had everything we needed and the fully fenced yard was great for the dog. We found good coffee and good pizza within a 5min walk. The owners were very helpful and responsive. Keen to come back!

A wonderful break away

I love staying at the Salty Dog Cottage. It has such an inviting and comfortable feel about it. My daughter and I, and the dogs all way have such a great time. It’s in a great location, which allows us to visit family that live in Caloundra. Hope to be back next year.

A very tidy little cottage
Fully self contained kitchen and a lovely gift of 2 blocks of Cadbury chocolate...yum ❤️ Everything we could of needed was supplied and the bed was quite comfortable too. The only downside was that there were heaps of flies; worse when we were cooking anything. They were all over the grass when we arrived and despite using fly spray, they multiplied. Otherwise, we had a lovely stay and recommend Salty Dog Cottage 100%.

Great stay at the Salty Dog Cottage - conveniently located close to beaches and shops - very comfortable rooms and delighted with all the little extras - having basic pantry items and hand cleansers was a great saver. Teenager esp pleased that wifi was available ;) Puppo was also happy with scoping out the yard - and loved all the beach walks.

Quiet, modern, clean grannie flat out the back of the main house. Fully equipped kitchen with plenty of crockery, glassware and microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Main bedroom with queen bed. Other bedroom with two bunk beds and two singles. We had to bring our own sheets, pillowcases and towels. Bathroom with shower. Combined toilet and laundry, with washer and dryer. Air con in main living area and both bedrooms. TV in master bedroom and main living area, the latter with DVD player. Good WiFi. Nice little deck out the back with barbecue. Off street undercover parking. Easy walk to Kings Beach and a bit further to Shelly Beach.

My dog Pippa and I had a great time at Salty Dog Cottage and loved going to the beach. I'll definitely recommend to my friends and letting them know the off lease on the beach is only May to October, which I wasn't aware of but still had a lovely time.
