"Location was under renovation but it is a historic hotel and the carpet was going to be replaced and our AC went out but they quickly moved us to a new room . Will stay again on our next visit as our son goes to college there and it’s in walking distance to the university."

"Pleasant remodeled vintage home. Nicely decorated. Comfortable beds. Couch and chairs a bit less so. However barring pre existing back problems most will find it fine. Older kitchen with nice details but some intrinsic quirks. Short stay folks won’t notice but the trash bin is a bit small outside so it’s easy to fill it past capacity. Fire pit / BBQ area is behind a wooden gated fence on the other side of the parking slot so it DOES exist even though you might assume it wasn’t part of the same property. Nice couch on the front of the house to sit and be outdoors in the evening with some shade from the house itself. Really pleasant overall and AC and hot water work fine. Being right across the street from the grocery store is very convenient. Right in the middle of things so walkable to most anywhere in town and also great for just going for a walk to nowhere or to check out neighborhoods"

"We’ve now stayed at Prairie’s Cottage 3 times. It always meets our needs. Right in the heart of Alpine, it provides easy access to everything in Alpine, especially the city park and baseball fields. Mr. Bob is a wonderful host, and the cottage is so cute and quiet. We’ll be back as long as he’ll have us back."

"My husband and I came for our 31st wedding anniversary. the home is just we were looking for with a beautiful view and close to amenities in Alpine. Very cozy and worked great for our time away to relax and unwind. Highly recommend to others."

"The property was clean and tastefully decorated. It was also well stocked with incidental toiletries to include toothbrush kits, although I did not need to use any of the supplies the host provided. I used one towel as a floor-mat and showered with my own towel, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I only had one very minor issue with a mechanical squeak coming from the A/C unit which I solved by turning off the oscillation function. I passed this info on to the host and I'm sure they will address it for future guests. The shower had a nice stream of water which quickly warmed up, and the bed was very comfortable for either sitting or sleeping. Since the price was approximately 1/2 of what the Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Inn were charging, I have only praise for this location. It is located south of town, but roughly in the middle of everything and only takes about 5 min to get to any of the attractions in Alpine. It is roughly 108 miles from Big Bend National Park, which is an easy drive. BEWARE of Alpine law enforcement, they can be very nit-picky about speed or other Texas Road Code enforcement. Totally enjoyable stay, would repeat 100%"
