"From checking in to checking out our 3 day stay was excellent. Live music in the Blue Lounge and we enjoyed Alice's and Asian Bistro. Blue Lake has enough parking and casino is connected to the hotel and has smoking/non smoking gaming rooms. Outstanding security and staff are always visible and available. We recommend Blue Lake to all and we'll stay and play again!!!"

"I just returned home to Oregon after meeting some friends from central California in Willow Creek, where I had reserved a room at the Bigfoot Motel for us. The motel is certainly an older facility that shows it's age, but the new owners are certainly working hard to get it back to its former glory. They were ready for me when I arrived. The room I reserved had two beds and a nice futon, easily accommodating 3 grown men. The room was clean, with fresh linens and towels. The air conditioner worked perfectly during the 100 degree days. The refrigerator and microwave were handy too. They've installed new outdoor security cameras to monitor the property and we felt perfectly fine leaving our motorcycles parked in the lot. Some folks have provided less than stellar reviews because the building is showing it's age as the new owners are slowly bringing it back to its glory days, even though the very reasonable room rates reflect the fact it's a work in progress. Willow Creek is a nice LITTLE town in an incredible area full of history and fun and beautiful natural scenery! Give the Bigfoot Motel a chance and have a great time!"

"I've stayed at a number of places in Arcata, this is far and away my favorite now. Detached cottage, so no noise issues with common wall neighbors. The hosts were proactive in addressing issues which were infintesimal to begin with, top marks for attention to detail, and I'm severely detail oriented, far more than normal folks. All the usual things were well provisioned, even the sponge to do dishes was new and great. It's a small space, but for a place to be comfortable to rest, it does the job. The shower had good water pressure, the bed was comfortable, the fridge is of a good size for a small fridge (bigger than a bar fridge). Towels, soaps etc were all available in adequate quantities, as were dishes and silverware etc. It was spotless on arrival, and I notice when corners are cut on cleaning, happy to say not here. The hosts are very hospitable and friendly, we had a great talk when they let me use the lawn to dry out my parawing. Great folks, couldn't be nicer. This place is my new default first pick any time I go back to Arcata. The redwoods are peaceful and delightful to be among, although I didn't spend a lot of time on the patio, it was very nice when I did. While you do need to park carefully so that you don't block the roundabout, it's not difficult (assuming a normal sized car), and having a parking spot a few feet from the front door of the cottage is nice logistically."

"The dome is super roomy! Definitely the most unique stays I’ve been in and made for a memorable experience. Despite no shower, the amenities were nice and the local coffee was an awesome touch. I was nervous about using the composting toilet but the instructions were very clear and it did not take away from the stay at all. The Bed was nice and comfy and as I mentioned first, I loved the spacious interior of the dome!The only issue we had was locating the property at night. We accidentally went nextdoor to the neighbors house but they were very kind in directing us to the correct driveway. Be sure to find the “A” on the address house number!"
