This was our second year staying at this condo in Sun Ray Meadows, and once again we had a wonderful experience. My wife and I have really come to love Steamboat Springs, and we’re already planning to return in 2027.
The location is excellent. Sun Ray Meadows is about a half-mile straight shot to the Steamboat Ski Resort, and the stop for Steamboat’s free bus service is only about 50 yards away on the main road. It makes getting around town very convenient.
One of the biggest advantages for us is the condo’s accessibility. My wife uses a wheelchair. Although the condo is on the second floor, there are no stairs to climb to reach the front door, and the main bathroom has a walk-in shower. Those features made a tremendous difference for us. The single-car garage was another big convenience.
The condo itself feels comfortable and well cared for. We especially enjoyed sitting on the balcony off the dining room and taking in the mountain surroundings. It was a great place to relax in the morning or at the end of the day.
The condo was also exceptionally well stocked. Fresh linens and towels were provided along with soaps, shampoo, toilet tissue, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent and many of the other necessities you normally have to remember to buy or bring with you. The kitchen has pots, pans, dishes, silverware and even some spices. There are plenty of puzzles and games, high-speed Wi-Fi and a Smart TV. It really felt like we had everything we needed for an extended stay.
Summer in Steamboat Springs is beautiful, and there is far more to do than we could fit into one visit. We enjoyed the farmers market, a concert and walking some of the local trails. Other activities include mountain biking, hiking, trout fishing, the Core Trail, swimming, the rodeo, art festivals and simply exploring town.
One of our favorite routines was walking to the nearby pond each day and using an app to identify the different birds we saw. We also spent time along the trail beside the Yampa River downtown, where there is plenty of shade beneath the beautiful old trees. Wildlife is everywhere. One of the highlights of our trip was seeing an osprey with two young ones.
Steamboat is also wonderfully bicycle-friendly, with trails that can take you from one end of town to the other. And there are some great coffee shops. My wife and I made a weekly tradition out of going out together for coffee or tea and just enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of the town.
After staying here two years in a row, we can confidently say that Sun Ray Meadows has become part of what we look forward to about visiting Steamboat Springs. The combination of the location, accessibility, beautiful surroundings and a comfortable, well-equipped condo makes it an excellent place to stay.
Five stars from us, and we hope to be back in Steamboat Springs in 2027!
