This central peninsula town has the best of both worlds: white-sand beaches with clear blue waters and a lively island nightlife.

Buġibba is a picturesque peninsula town in St. Paul’s Bay. With white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, dramatic cliffs and seemingly endless sunny days, it’s easy to see why Buġibba, together with Qawra, makes up the largest holiday resort area on Malta. Whether you’re discovering the pristine waters with flippers and a snorkel or on a luxurious cruise boat, the Buġibba coast has plenty to offer to island explorers. Nightlife can be found at Bay Square, a seafront square buzzing with bars, clubs and restaurants.

Head to the beach on Islet Promenade, Buġibba’s main seafront street that stretches from Salina Bay to St. Paul’s Bay. Perched Beach, the popular man-made beach, is a scenic stretch of white sand that looks out to Mistra Bay and the Islands of St. Paul. The beach can fill up quickly, so arrive early and rent a chair and an umbrella from a nearby kiosk and settle in for the day.

Explore the Mediterranean waters on a guided snorkel or scuba trip. You can find several diving centres throughout town. Tours range from beginner to expert and take you out to incredible dive spots around the islands.

Take a cruise around the island and see breathtaking views, postcard-perfect bays and historical landmarks. Many cruises leave from the jetty on the west end of Islet Promenade and embark on exciting journeys around the Island of Comino, Gozo and the famous Blue Lagoon.

Visit the ruins of a megalithic temple, a prehistoric monument in the centre of town. The temple is one of the oldest freestanding structures on earth and is contained within a hotel on the seafront promenade.

Enjoy long sunny days here in summer and very mild temperatures in winter. Buġibba is well connected to the other towns on the island by bus. The town is compact and can easily be explored on foot. Secluded beaches lined with palm trees, such as Mellieħa, Paradise Beach and Golden Bay, are just a short trip from Buġibba.

"Avoid! Possibly the worst hotel I’ve stayed at. The toilet didn’t flush. After telling reception they sent maintenance who ‘fixed’ it yet it had to be pulled a specific way at a certain angle for a barely functioning flush. A adequate bathroom is the absolute bare minimum of a hotel, so this was ..."
