"I rarely write anything but rave reviews. However: Upon arrival, nothing had been cleared of snow (luckily, it was no more than two inches deep), the house was chilly, the bunk beds were not made, it was too dark in the entry way to see the keypad… Living room furniture needs upgrading. The windows look to be original and allow in lots of cold air, causing bedrooms to be a variety of uncomfortable temperatures (either too hot or too cold). There is a lack of some basic amenities, such as: washcloths, tissues, trash cans in bedrooms, shampoo, places to hang towels, curtains to keep out the street lights, a place in the large entry way to sit to change boots, and extra blankets (only thin quilts on downstairs beds). Only three table knives. Mattresses in the bunk room are thin and lumpy. Living room furniture is not in great condition. Aside from one message that appeared to be computer-sent, no communication from the host since three days before our arrival, and no answer to a question I sent on the day of arrival (about conflicting arrival times between the message and the listing). No information or message about how to leave the house. Typically, I go above and beyond to leave a house spic-and-span, but due to all of the above things, we weren’t sure what they wanted and were less motivated to do anything but the basic expectations.
