The air-conditioning and hot water was fully functional in the room. The taxi services to an from the hotel was also excellent.

I found the property to be good value for money. Check-in was seamless. The room was clean with convenient amenities - hot water, mini fridge, kettle, iron and ironing board. Also very close (walking distance) to many dining and shopping options as well as the beach. Would definitely stay again.

Louis-Philippe, thank you for staying with us and for your comments. Yes, it has always been our policy to collect payment upon arrival. There are many reasons for this and it helps us to keep our rates as affordable as possible. We do allow guests to pay any incidental charges as incurred. Since we have a very limited number of incidentals, it has proven to be in everyone's best interest to settle the bill upon arrival (as opposed to check out). We hope to see you again.

My experience at this B & B was no doubt unique, but I wish to share it because it far surpassed my expectations. At the end of our two-week vacation, my husband required hospitalization, which was a very stressful experience for both of us. I needed a place to stay that was quiet, comfortable and clean. When I saw Harlem B&B on the Expedia website, and noticed the favorable reviews, I decided to give it a try. It was exactly what I needed. My room was comfortable, clean, and decorated with fresh, sunny yellow, walls that lifted my spirits. The staff were amazing. Latoya and Charlene were caring and kind. They sympathized with my situation and were there when I returned from my daily hospital visits. It almost felt as though they were family by the time I left. Scott, the owner, bent over backward to be accommodating. He also expressed empathy for my situation. The B&B sits virtually across the street from the Southern Palms Beach resort, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the beach and waves if you have a meal at their restaurant. My husband and I will stay there again the next time we visit that part of Barbados. It is also likely that my daughter and her boyfriend will do the same, when they visit Dover Beach. Thank you, Scott, Latoya, and Charlene for your incredible welcome and for all of your help and concern when I needed it.

I loved how close it was to restaurants and bars. It was within walking distance. I would have loved to have more dining options at the hotel, rather than having to leave to go elsewhere for food.

an Oregonian, who learned to drive on the LEFT!!
The property is clean and friendly with many smiling faces to help you if you have needs. Low key and relaxed attitude, not a typical commercial hustle check-in and checkout. Room are clean and functional with only a1/4 block walk to "main street" activities. Good Value. However, if you drive it is difficult to find on your first attempt, just be patient:)

We called ahead and arrived mid evening (9pm). We rang the bell and a man opened the door. Didn't say anything. We followed him through the dark reception area to the desk. He asked for our payment and wrote out a receipt. Virtually nothing else said. Seemed a bit creepy. A second man came and took us to our room. He was a bit friendlier. There was a bar nearby with live music. Upon request, the second man was able to move us to another room. The shower in the second room was almost non-functional. Only a trickle of flow, only hot because the cold faucet was completely stripped and the handle would only spin without turning the valve, much as we worked at it. Very old plumbing. The bathroom mirror had bits of the backing chipped off which seemed cheesy. The safe was locked, probably left that way by the previous guests. There was nobody available at 8:05 in the morning to unlock it for us so we carried our laptop and other valuables around with us that day. Only 2 hangers in the closet. Very spartan accommodation. At least it was clean, except the towels had quite a strong musty smell and needed bleaching to clean properly. This place is way too pricey for what you get. It is located in a run down area which felt unsafe to us as we arrived in the dark. Daytime felt better. There was no breakfast available. It is not a B&B. Should be classified as a hostel. We seldom write reviews but this one needs an honest one.

Please note that when you book your stay online, you are given the option of a rate with breakfast or without - you chose the lower rate without breakfast. We make this option available to guests to provide them something more affordable and to allow them to have more choices which might be available in the immediate area or wherever else they might be traveling to. We apologize that your visit happened to coincide with a government shutdown of the water services to our area (which all guests were provided notice of). Our staff is always willing to respond with helpful assistance - even if (to our regret) it is not the same as having the full pressure of service we get from the municipal supply. Likewise, we wish that the current health & safety circumstances allowed for more of the local (within 1000 feet) restaurants to be open for regular hours and service. As advised, we are always willing to provide meals, when the circumstances warrant - try the lamb, next time! (Or, make a request - we will accommodate, if we can.) We hope that you will consider staying with us again. We would love to show you what is typical of the area. Please notify us ahead of time - we would like to make some special accommodations for you. Thank you, again.

Good, no frills experience. If you want a clean basic room with a shower and a small tv and a fridge and u are not looking for a pool and a beachfront then this is for you. Quiet, close enough to beach, supermarket and restaurants close. Folks friendly though don't expect tour-guide advice.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The place was super clean and the rooms were really big and new. The breakfast was small but adequate for me and I really enjoyed the fresh baked pastries every morning. Central location in Saint Lawrence gap a plus but far enough away from loud clubs with a very nice beach less than a block away. Staff was super friendly and had a great time chatting with the other guests at breakfast. Would definately stay here again.

I first made contact with Scott, the owner of Harlem B&B on the 5th January 2020 to find out if I was able to check-in earlier than expected and he happily accommodated my request. From that moment, I was reassured that my time at Harlem B&B was the best decision made. Despite Scott limping, he still carried my luggage to my room. Both Scott and his lovely team made myself and my partner feel welcome and like family. Scott invited us for dinner on the house on the 9th January 2020. How many host would do that? It was my very first time eating irish stew and I loved it. Scott and his wife even accommodated my partner who is vegetarian and his meal portion was bigger than mine but that's okay 😊. Scott's wife even cooked from scratch cou-cou and marlin for my partner (he was spoilt) and I had the pleasure in tasting it for the first time. Unusual texture but loved it and I am a huge fan of cornmeal anyway. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Harlem B&B and would highly recommend Scott's beautiful home which may I add is about a 2 minute walk to Dover Beach and within close proximity to the nightlife in St. Lawrence Gap.  Ideal location for everything within walking distance including local food. Residence/locals are ever so friendly. Harlem B&B is the perfect home away from home. Thank you to Scott, Scott's wife, Pat and the rest of Scott's lovely team including Sam the lovely dog.

The property was clean, organized and clearly designed suited for a individual or a group (family setting). they had off street parking, secure cabinets, well lit street and there was someone always there to help. There staff were professional and courteous. The owners of this property were very accommodating and wonderful to connect with. Scott was very nice in contacting me and giving us directions on how to get to Harlem B&B from the airport as we arrived a bit late after reception closed. Upon check-in, the lady almost forgot to show us our room and there was no door number on the keys :) The building and our room were great, spacious and very clean. Location is also perfect, right at the gap so close to lots of restaurants and cafè shops. Breakfast is also provided, which is a plus and certainly satisfies our morning coffee cravings. Overall, a very nice experience and a perfect start of our stay in Barbados.

I've just returned from a fantastic week in Barbados. Harlem B&B was absolutely perfect. I had a large and well equipped room, and it was absolutely spotlessly clean. The staff as well were just brilliant - one lady even walked me all the way to the main road to show me how to use the "Reggae Buses" to get around the island. Harlem is in an excellent location with all the bars and restaurants on The Gap and Dover Beach within a five to ten minute walk.

Originally planned to stay here overnight during my stay to Barbados but ended up extending my stay. The rooms are nice and big and so very spacious. They give you toothpaste!!! A lot of places don't typically give toothpaste. Con: Because the staff gets changed over, sometimes they don't know which rooms are occupied or not. So they typically knock on doors at night or in the morning. And the breakfast isnt, it just isnt! I would definitely recommend staying here irrespective of the 2 cons.

I can’t believe how many times I’ve passed this b&b & not thought to stay here! We have just returned from spending 2 weeks at the b&b. We were really pleased with our stay, the room & the staff were great. I’d recommend this b&b to frequent visitors and first timers! Special thanks to all the staff that helped me with my children. Price, location, helpful staff and clean. The manager knocked on my door at 4:00am to make sure I was up to make my flight and got me a cab when my arrange cab didn't show up.

I like the professionalism and hopsitality of the owner, though off island, called and woke up his wife late in the night who assisted me in getting a document printed that I needed for an appointment early the following morning. They also arranged taxi pick up for me. Clean property with great amenities.

The property looked fairly builed. The room I stayed in is very spacious and the property sits a few yards from the center of St Lawrence Bay Gap, the location is excellent. The staff, esoecially Simone was very friendly, she gave wonderful advise on things to do, such as taking the public transportation whixh goes for a reasonable price of $3.50 BD. I personally don't like beaches on the Gap, they are for strong swimmers and those who are interested in surfing. Therefore, I took the public transportation to Carlise Bay beach each day, I also took it to the sites in BridgeTown and to the airport (the same $3.50, unlike the $16US plus $4 tip I paid upon my arrival). The rooms were nice, plain and simple including the curtains. If you are not a morning person and like to sleep in like myself you may want to travel with a blockout. Although I used the comforter as a makeshift blockout the sun woke me up before 6 every morning. The owner might want to invest in some blockout curtains as it will help to decrease the cost of energy. However, the price of the rooms are economical so if you are a budget traveller like myself this will fit in with your needs.
