About this property
Little Gwyn. 3 min walk to Beach! Gorgeous views out to sea.
This 150 Year old coastguard cottage enjoys lovely sea, headland and harbour views. Situated right on the SW Coast Path, Little Gwyn is only a 3 minute walk away from two gorgeous beaches (Little Perhaver and Gorran Haven beach). Further beaches (including Vault beach, from the film “About Time”) are within easy walking distance along the SW Coast path. Accommodation is laid out over two floors, with gardens to the front and rear. The Cottage boasts a south facing front terrace and a lovely terrace and garden to the rear; perfect for drying wetsuits after a day on the beach. With three bedrooms; a double, twin and single, Little Gwyn sleeps up to 5 adults plus room for a travel cot so is the ideal holiday cottage for families or couples. A cosy, wood-beamed sitting room opens on to the front terrace, with stunning sea and headland views. The kitchen with dining area is equipped with all utensils and has a small utility area with washing machine and tumble drier. Books, Games, SKY Q television, WIFI and a Log Burner ensure that you can enjoy all home comforts during your stay. Gorran Haven is a picturesque fishing village, with narrow streets and cobbled lanes; quintessentially Cornish in every way! The village has a fish and chip shop, beach café and a fabulous local store (Cakebreads), with live music & pizza nights in the summer months. Cakebreads also has an outdoor pub - perfect for those long summer evenings. Mevagissey, a thriving harbour town, is only a few miles drive away, or a wonderfully scenic walk if you fancy, as are The Lost Gardens of Heligan. The world famous Eden Project is only 10 miles away and if you love surfing then the waves of Newquay can be reached in 45 minutes. Pet friendly. Vault beach (and others nearby) welcomes dogs at all times of the year; the local beach requires a lead during the summer months. Front and rear gardens are both private, with front garden enclosed on all sides. Like many other properties in the heart of the village, the cottage does not have parking. However, Gorran Haven does have a large car park with good value weekly rates (and only a pleasant 5 minute walk away, past the beach). Cars can be driven up to the property to drop off or pick up.

Lovely cosy cottage in a great location of Gorran Haven. Pet friendly. Generously equipped with all you need. Comfy beds. Excellent communications with hosts. Local shop, fish & chip shop, and dog friendly beach 5 minutes away. Great for coast path walking. Highly recommended.
The host sent us so much information which was really helpful and it’s the best service we have received. The cottage was warm, cozy & homely. It had everything we needed & a lovely view of the harbour.A great place to stay for a chilled out & quiet week.Staying in October resulted in less people around & was exactly what we needed.Harbour was lovely & pretty, just a 3 minute walk.
Best communication I have ever had from a host. Proactive and very helpful. Little Gwyn feels like a real family home - really welcoming and well fitted out. All you could ask for - apart from the weather
We stayed at Coastguard Cottage for a week and had a wonderful time. The location is stunning and the cottage has incredible sea views. It’s also extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The owners were fantastic, providing very helpful information both on places to visit and restaurant and pub recommendations. They were also very quick to respond to any questions we had both before and whilst staying at the cottage. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and hope to return again for another relaxing break soon!
Fantastic week, host made the stay extra special with all the information about the area and the cottage. Cottage felt like home straight away and the views were amazing. Fantastic holiday didn’t want to come home, would definitely return.
An incredibly comfortable, stylish and brilliantly located cottage with the best of hosts. Walking on your doorstep, seaviews from the terrace, swimming minutes away on the best of dog friendly beaches, fantastic pasties from the local shop Cake breads and the most delicious fish and chips opposite, enjoy!
The cottage is everything the listing claims. The location was perfect for us - close to the sea, and great access to the coastal path. The village is charming and in early September delightfully quiet - compared to eg Mevagissey. I appreciated the personal touch and attentiveness of our hosts - thank you !
Brilliant location, stunning views out over the harbour. We loved sitting in the garden each evening watching everyone jumping off the harbour wall into the sea! The cottage is just a short walk down to the beach. Despite being small Gorran Haven has everything you might need, Cafe, shop, bar and fish and chip shop. The cottage itself is lovely, completed to a high spec and well equipped with everything you might need. The hosts were really helpful, providing lots of helpful info ahead of our arrival. I was slightly worried about the lack of parking ahead of arrival but it wasn’t a problem at all. We managed fine loading and unloading with three small kids. Overall we had a brilliant stay and would highly recommend!
Clean and comfortable cottage, nicely decorated and with everything we needed for a lovely holiday.
Lovely to wake to the sound of the sea and view of the sunrise.
Property owners Michael and Becky were very friendly and helpful, supplying lots of extra information about the area and were easily contactable
A beautiful beach is just a 2 min walk away. It is dog friendly, our dog loved it. A fish and chip shop. A couple of shops selling Cornish ice creams. Right next to the coastal path also 5min drive from lost gardens of Heligan. Can’t recommend this place enough. A truly relaxing holiday.
Lovely cottage in a lovely location - near the beach
My husband and I spent a lovely week in coastguard cottage with Billy our dog.
It's a gorgeous cottage, very cosy and with everything you need. It was spotless, and had a clean modern feel, but maintained the quirky old cottage feel.
Fab location, (you get used to going up and down the hill!) but it's worth the walk up as you get a gorgeous view of the sea, which you can see from the patio and some of the downstairs area. We enjoyed sitting on the patio with a pasty, or cream tea!
You can see the sunrise from the (v.comfy) bed in main bedroom
Weather was superb, we had Little Perhaven beach to ourselves some days-swimming and paddleboarding!
There are lovely walks direct from the house - to Mevagissey and Hemmick beach in the other direction,
If you want to do more, then there are things to do in surrounding towns etc, but we stayed local.
We recommend the Haven Chippy, had a lovely fish and chips, salt and pepper squid and 'Haven Stack' burger!
We had a fab Sunday lunch at The Crown in St Ewe. It's a short 12 min drive, but the food was delicious and we went twice more during the week. They welcome dogs too :-) Also visit Cakebreads, such friendly people and interesting place!
If you haven't watched the film "About Time' do so, and take a walk to Vault Beach as that is where the beach scenes were filmed! It's already a fav film of ours and so fab to watch again when we were there.
All in all a lovely week.
Would highly recommend! Thanks Michael and Rebecca.
A pretty house with a beautiful garden in a residential park, 10 minutes from the center of AIX. Calm surroundings, great facilities like parking, swimming pool etc. We had a wonderful 5 days and the owner Jean Jacques was responsive, pleasant and welcoming.Highly recommended!!
Amazing stay at Little Gwyn with our 3 boys. Lovely welcoming family home with charm and style which made our holiday. Brilliant, quiet and friendly location with lots of walks and beaches. Perfect place to get away from it all to relax and recharge. Excellent communication with our attentive hosts with lots of information and suggestions for us. Can’t wait to return.
Beautiful cottage in ideal location for walking, eating, swimming, relaxing by the sea, and much, much more. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend for couples and families alike.

A most comfortable and well equipped house with lovely gardens and sea views. It is superbly situated, being a short walk down to the beach, shop and cafés and with direct access to the coastal path.It is easy to stay here without a car and arrive by train, as we did. There is a good local taxi and a community bus you can book on line to various local places like Heligan. The communication with the owner was excellent throughout. We can’t wait to return.
Beautifully refurbished, very comfortable beds, excellent shower. Great restaurants in Mevagissey - try the Sharksfin - and super fish and chips at the Haven in Gorran Haven. We also recommend the Teacup Tearoom in Mevagissey.
The house was great, lovely decor.great location.some steep hills but we managed it., which actually was the best part.views of the ocean was great! Great fish and chips in town! Great pasty’s at Mary’s in mevagissey. We hit the jackpot with this place, coming back some day!
Little Gwyn is the epitome to tranquillity, after dropping our bags, we used the village car park, just a short stroll away, the resulting quiet enables the gentle breath of the sea to be a constant restful background accompaniment to the harbour view and marine air.
The accommodation has everything we could wish for, we love this place. Thank you
Little Gwynn is a lovely cottage with a good position midway up Gorran Haven's hillside location. There are views of the harbour and bay from all the front-facing windows, and from the front garden. The cottage is comfortable and clean with most things that you would need for a lovely holiday, however if you want to do much cooking then maybe bring some of your own pans, the ones supplied are pretty terrible, all with compromised non-stick surfaces, that really should have been thrown away a while ago. I am guessing that most people don't want to be cooking on holiday though, so this wouldn't be an issue.
There are a nice selection of books and games and dvd's on the shelves, and some local information.
Little Gwynn is ideal for exploring on the South West Coastal path, and there are several great beaches for swimming within a few minutes walk.
We have just returned today from our stay at Little Gwyn in Gorran Haven. What a fabulous holiday we had. The village was the gorgeous, peaceful retreat that we wanted, though within easy reach of little towns like Mevagissey as well as larger places like St. Austell. We were able to reach Land's End and St. Ives for a day trip somewhere a little further afield, and had easy access to the coastal path for some walks with stunning views. The property we stayed in was perfect with plenty of information being sent to us in advance so we knew exactly what to expect. The cottage was spacious, comfortable and very well stocked with all you would need in terms of kitchen equipment, bedding and towels and there are plenty of games, books and the SkyQ television should you have a day where the weather is poor or you just need a rest from all the walking. There was nothing to fault including communication with the owners if we needed them. Thank you so much for a fantastic stay and for making our holiday just perfect.
