"Neat hotel with great location. Breakfast was acceptable. I personally like fried or hard boiled eggs as an option rather than only scrambled ones. Also with no cables in the rented car we couldn’t use the EV charging facility!"

Nusfjord Village & Resort

Nusfjord Village & Resort

10/10 Excellent
"Staying here is more an experience than a straight hotel stay. You are in an amazingly beautiful part of the world. 4 night stay for us and the cabins are very cozy, yet simply furnished. Breakfast was good, great selection, only feedback to management would the hot food selection needs to be hotter, not lukewarm. Staff were really good across the resort. Sauna is very rustic and perfect at the end of the day, another note to management is to put a step within the 2 hot tubs as i witnessed guests struggling to get in/out of tub due to the size of the step from decking to tub seating. On site food options are limited after 6.00pm to either fine dining or pizza."

"Parking is free. Nice facility. Clean. Helpful staff. Breakfast buffet is included and it is quite generous. I wish they had lotion and a hand towel bar in the bathroom. We had a balcony but the door malfunctioned. Loved the nespresso coffee maker."

Lofoten Cottages

Lofoten Cottages

10/10 Excellent
"Lofoten Cottages in Nusfjord was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to the Lofoten. The elevated cottages are beautifully designed, spotless, and situated right on the water, offering breathtaking views of the fjord. Waking up to the peaceful scenery in the morning felt almost unreal. The breakfast, which was included in the rate, was an exceptional experience in itself. The carefully curated selection of fresh, high-quality food was far beyond anything we expected. Every detail was thoughtfully prepared, making breakfast feel like a luxury dining experience rather than a standard hotel breakfast. The location in the historic village of Nusfjord makes the experience even more special. The village is charming and picturesque, with beautiful traditional fishing cabins, stunning scenery, and a wonderful bakery. This property is truly special and offers the perfect blend of comfort, authenticity, and luxury. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone visiting Lofoten. The restaurant is also a must-visit. Be sure to make a dinner reservation in advance. The combination of cozy surroundings, stunning fjord views, impeccable service, and exceptional cuisine creates a truly elevated dining experience. If you're looking for a memorable and unique place to stay in Lofoten, this is it. We cannot recommend it highly enough. One question for the team: What brand are the pillows? They were incredibly comfortable and provided some of the best sleep we've had while traveling!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Sørvågen?
The best area to stay in Sørvågen is the village centre itself, particularly around the harbour, for easy access to amenities and activities. This compact village is built around its natural harbour, with traditional red fishermen's cabins (rorbuer) lining the waterfront. Most of the services, including the local grocery shop and eateries, are concentrated along the main road, Fv808, which runs through the village. You'll find many accommodation options directly overlooking the water, offering picturesque views of the surrounding mountains and the fjord.Couples looking for a picturesque and convenient base will find staying close to the harbour ideal. You can easily stroll to local restaurants for dinner, enjoy the views from your rorbu, and access walking trails that start directly from the village. The Norwegian Fishing Village Museum is also a short walk away, offering insight into the local history. For those planning to explore the surrounding Lofoten islands and wanting a slightly quieter experience, the area just outside the immediate village centre, still within walking distance, offers larger, more secluded accommodation, often with stunning fjord views.
When is the best time to go to Sørvågen?
The best time to visit Sørvågen is during the summer months, from June to August, for the warmest weather and extended daylight, or between September and March for the best chances of seeing the Northern Lights. For those prioritising outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking, June, July, and August offer the most comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 10°C to 20°C. You'll experience the midnight sun during this period, providing nearly 24 hours of daylight for exploring the stunning landscapes without rushing. This is ideal for couples who want to make the most of long days for scenic drives along the E10, boat trips from the harbour, or exploring the nearby Å and Reine villages. If witnessing the Northern Lights is your primary goal, the colder, darker months from September to March are your best bet. While temperatures drop significantly, often below freezing, the long nights offer prime viewing conditions for the aurora borealis.
