"We spent three nights at the Capital Hotel while in St Johns. We found our room comfortable and the location very convenient. It is close to the mall, numerous restaurants as well. The hotel does have a restaurant that always seemed busy. Which is a good sign. We found parking easy and the hotel staff extremely helpful."
"This is a modern, clean and well maintained hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Close to restaurants and easy access to all points of interest. One of the nicer hotels I have stayed at in this price range."
"I loved the toutons on the menu.
My server on Friday and Saturday breakfasts was excellent and so upbeat.
The long wait at the bar - perhaps hire more staff.
Sunday breakfast - I called the Inn to open the doors. Server had difficulty with the coffee machine and was rattled by all the guests coming for breakfast. Definitely required more staff. I waited 23 minutes and she had only served one table - so I had to leave because I could not wait any longer as I still had to pack my suitcase (which would 10 minutes)but there were still 8+ more tables to serve. There should have been more staff because they knew how many customers stayed at the Inn - and they should've known (approximately) how many people would be at breakfast."
"Everything we needed including generous surface parking in a great location. A historic property so a little noisier than newer hotels. The free drink offer doesn’t exist anymore but was issued a card for $20 off $50 spend at Jack Astors across the street."
"Stayed for a week. Room was spacious and hotel with close to main roads and St.John. If you get the free breakfast know that there are only three options; full breakfast, breakfast sandwich and fruit bowl (fruit, yoghurt, granola) but every time we asked for the fruit bowl they said they had no fruit. We complained to the front desk and they said they should have fruit. We then asked the next day and they were out of yoghurt. It was always something and we were there right when they opened.
They also need to update how to receive maid service, told to put a sign out but never given one and had the maid only come into our room once cause we saw her in the hall and asked. Very bad service for getting towels and a clean room."
