"The stay overall was quite good but it was a disappointing experience.
After booking we where informed that work was taking place and we may be subjected to noise.
I made contact to explain this was to be a special break for my Wife's 60th Birthday and they should have warned us about possible disruption before booking.
A reply was sent apologising for this, but told us to make contact with reception where steps could be made to make up for this. Upon check-in reception knew nothing about this and told us the Email we had was from Expedia and they hadn't been informed, so could do nothing for us. This despite the Email being 'signed' by the hotel.
The room itself was ok, usual size with Tv and tea/coffee facilities. Couple of items could have been cleaner but nothing major.
The shower was easy to use with good flow and temperature, unfortunately the cubicle itself was rather small. Shame really as there was some wasted space around the enclosure.
And now the 'view' ? I wasn't expecting the rolling hills of Cumbria but the part derelict building that filled the window was a surprise to say the least !
The cooked breakfast was made to order and arrived hot in good time, though the half Black pudding slice was a bit stingy. Coffee was good and a decent array of cereals, toast etc."
"This place is amazing for chilling completely. we absolutely loved spending New year here. You definitely need a 4x4high clearance car to get there but its worth it."
