"The room smelled like vomit and urine. The doors had obvious damage from being kicked in multiple times, both the bathroom and back door to be car park. The entire room was pitch black upon entry with no light switch and the only switch was by the hall entry door, which I discovered was unlocked. Very dangerous. I was pestered twice while unloading my truck by two separate hotel guests. I live in NYC and was genuinely not feeling safe staying in that room both for sanitary and safety reasons. DON’T FALL FOR THE PHOTOS—the rooms are in disrepair, the carpet is ancient and the whole place is like a scene from a B movie. "

"I called them and asked about accessibility. They assigned me a spot very close to my room. I didn’t tell them I’m disabled and they honored my request. Be aware it was in the off season. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again in the future "

"When you put yourself out there as a high end hotel, an established mainstay and icon of the local history one expects a bit more when staying here. As a matter of fact my wife stayed here about 18 months prior and had a great experience. However, there was nothing truly remarkable about our stay and as a note, there were things that occurred here that didn't happen at a much lower rated place two years ago on my last visit. 4 day stay - no vacuum, empty coffee cups left on tables, bathroom toilet not cleaned among many of the quirks. No "How was your stay?" upon check out and no assistance with luggage upon check out and valet. It was almost as if it didn't matter and they couldn't be bothered. Not to say that there were not individual successes such as the young man at Bernie's who tended to our breakfast and a nice bartender and waitress at TEN while we enjoyed a late night snack, but, this is expected. I am not saying it was horrible. Nice bed, easy in and out. But no wow factor, no bang for the buck and certainty no long lasting impression that says "WOW - I got to stay here again!". A legacy of luxury since 1902... Your resting on your laurels."
