For the very best Weekend Experience
We have been to many vacation homes but this one is our new favourite! The waterfront cabin is privately situated on the property, amidst beautifully maintained gardens and lawns. We were able to easily launch our sea kayaks using the stairs that lead down to the oceanfront. There were various decks we could use, with Adirondack chairs on the end of the dock, on a lower sun dock and bistro sets on the upper deck outside the cabin. The water in the hot tub on the front deck was crystal clear and so relaxing after a busy day of kayaking and bike riding on the galloping goose trail (right across the street!). When I stepped into the inside of the cabin I thought I may never leave! There are windows all around, leaving that view to be admired from every room. The bathroom has a large soaker tub from where you can relax in bath salts and gaze out over the bay. Each morning I would wake up to the view and the sounds of birds singing and the eagles and seagulls’ cries. We enjoyed the fire in the wood stove each evening while watching tv, fully equipped with Netflix and many channels. The kitchen has everything you need; lovely dishes, coffee mugs, wine glasses, dishwasher, or a barbecue outside. The Sooke basin is so beautiful to kayak along the shores. There are starfish, jelly fish and seals popping up everywhere. The shore line has gorgeous rocks, yew trees, wild flowers and lovely properties to admire. There are several little coves to explore. It’s a perfect stay!

Relaxing & beautiful place to get away
We booked this for our 20th anniversary. The guest house was just perfect. It had everything we needed. The hot tub was great and the view from the hot tub was amazing. It was very private. There are trails close by that go for miles.The town of Sooke is just 5 minutes away and had everything we needed. The hosts were kind and inviting. Their directions and suggestions were much appreciated. We went there to relax and disconnect. Mission accomplished! Though, if you are looking for more adventure, there are those options also. We would definitely stay at this property again!

A little slice of heaven
We had an amazing time here. Super private and quiet! Epic views! We loved seeing the seals , the kayaking and dinners outside overlooking the Sooke Bay. We also love all the walks/ hikes close by , including the galloping goose trail. The cabin has everything you need and more. Looking forward to coming back. Very clean, quiet and peaceful place. The cottage is very well stocked. Wonderful view! Going to come back with out bikes. The Galloping Goose Trail just in 200 meters from cottage. Highly recommended!

Amazing weekend get away

We had a wonderful stay at Danny & Tami's cottage. Everything you need is there and it was the perfect location for a 4 night getaway. Very peaceful location with a great view from the hot tub. We would not hesitate to stay there again!

Awesome relaxing stay
We had an awesome relaxing stay at this amazing waterfront cottage, the only problem is our stay was too short! Wish we could stay there longer and we are planning on booking again soon for a longer stay. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and watching the otters and seals from the comfort of the hot tub. The cottage had everything we needed and is exactly as advertised. We met the owner briefly and he was very friendly and made us feel very comfortable if we needed anything or had any questions. Looking forward to our next stay!

Expectations exceeded…again!
You’d think a return visit would render no more than your expectations but no, even better than we remembered. Just an exquisite, quality experience from start to finish. Hosts are very hospitable and attentive to the smallest detail. Cottage was immaculate and equipped with everything we needed down to fresh eggs from their own hens!

The perfect spot for a getaway
The property was just what we were looking for: peaceful, private, beautiful views, excellent accommodation, helpful hosts, and great access to everything that we wanted to do. This was our first visit to Vancouver Island and will not be our last. We were celebrating an anniversary, so wanted more than just a hotel room and Sooke Ocean Retreat was perfect. It is first on our list for a return trip to the Island.

Paradise in Sooke
Before arriving we were worried that the cabin might not live up to our expectations, on arrival we were blown away. The cabins position among the trees, overlooking the bay was perfect. Inside it was spotless and everything provided was top quality. We met the owners who were lovely and quickly showed us how everything worked then left us to enjoy our stay. We spent the evenings in the hot tub with a drink or two and the days exploring, kayaking and whale watching. It was bliss. Misty Ocean Paradise!!
My partner and I chose this spot for a weekend getaway for our anniversary and it was close to perfect. The guest house is so cute and cozy and the views were amazing. If you’re a fan of wildlife like we are, this is an excellent location. We saw seals, sea lions, otters, bald eagles, herons, kingfishers, and even a hooded nudibranch!!!!! While we were there we drove up to Botanical Beach to go tidepooling and hiked to see the petroglyphs at Aylard Farms, in addition to lounging in the hot tub and kayaking around the property. It was truly a wonderful and romantic getaway.

Simply Amazing
Exactly as advertised. Quiet, secluded location with ease of access to the Galloping Goose Trail and other Sooke attractions. Exceptional amenities including kayaks, private hot tub with great views, stocked kitchen essentials and provided fresh eggs. Morning coffee's and evening beers on the deck enhance the relaxed and romantic atmosphere. Very attentive property owners if required, otherwise fully respectful of your privacy.

Tammi & Danny look after this property personally and it shows. 99% of properties are excellent this was beyond what I expected. The place was immaculate. Anything chrome gleamed and I mean GLEAM. The dishwasher cooker washer and drier looked as if they had just been purchased. In speaking to Danni they hadn’t Their hot tub was as clean as the rest of the little cottage. The views were fantastic it’s worth every penny. Thank you both for a great stay you deserve fantastic reviews

Well appointed cottage, great view; hard to leave the comfort of our VRBO for day trips.
Perfect for us. Close to City amenities, but small town comfort. Venture north for surfing, hiking, beach, and wildlife. Or back to big City (Victoria) for Butchart, whale watching, dining,... Not to mention many activities close by. Oh, and the cottage, great kitchen, everything I needed to cook, nice hot tub, big tub inside too plus shower, big screen tv, lots of stations for sports day, and most comfortable patio chairs I have ever sat in.

Paradise! Nature, Water, Great Hospitality with a touch of luxury. The view was Amazing!
We came for a 30th Anniversary getaway, and this place was exceptional—one of our best home-away trips. This is the place if you love nature and viewing with your binoculars from the deck as your favorite pastime: otters, seals, geese, eagles, and a family of raccoons, to name a few. You have access to one of the most calm waters with the opportunity to kayak, stroll the beach, walk the pier, or sit on the most comfortable lounge chairs all day. There is attention to every detail from bath salts for the deep tub, choice of coffee and tea selections, fully equipped kitchen, bbq, hot tub, and everything is so clean. Close to town, sights, beaches, and great restaurants. We loved traveling across from Washington state to Victoria on the Ferry with an easy commute to Sooke. Be sure to ask for the complimentary fresh eggs from their farm. Delicious! The host was charming as they have pride in their place and have put a lot of work and unique details throughout the property. A must-visit for us in the future!

A beautiful slice of paradise.
Absolutely stunning; perfect for a couple or solo traveler. Lots of privacy. Nice and quiet area. The views off the deck are unbelievable. Sooke is a smaller town but plenty to offer. Tons of nature within a short drive. Do not hesitate, book this home before someone else does!

Seaside Paradise
Tami and Danny’s cottage is such a seaside retreat, away from the hustle and bustle of most people’s lives. They have made the cottage so very welcoming. Even supplying the kitchen with various choices of coffee/tea, offering of fresh eggs and veg from their garden, amazing outside furniture to lounge, etc.The setting is so beautiful. There is an eagle’s favourite perch, right in your view. We loved this cottage and will make it our newest fav spot. Thank you again T & D, for a very rejuvenating vacation!

This is one of our all time favourite rentals! We loved the privacy, the views, the amenities and especially the location! Sitting outside on one of the decks you can expect visits from geese, otters, seals, eagles, hummingbirds and various other birds that call the Sooke Basin their home. The rental itself is perfect! It's clean, has everything you need for your stay and looks just like the pics in the posting. You will not be disappointed! We have absolutely loved our stay here and would not hesitate to return if we ever find ourselves back here on the island!

Beautiful Experience
First impressions of the Ocean Front Cottage was how stunningly beautiful the property was. As we settled in we found the property was well equipped, clean and very comfortable. We were greeted by Tami, one of the owners, and treated to goodies from the garden and eggs from their chickens which was greatly appreciated. Mornings on the deck, or down at the dock, along with the fantastic view was very special! In fact, we didn’t leave the property for two of our five day stay. We are looking forward to our next visit to this little piece of heaven. Thanks for a fantastic experience.

A perfect retreat from the city
My partner and I had a brilliant week on Sooke Basin. The cottage was a wonderful retreat on the water and a great jumping off point to explore the area. It had everything we needed to relax and escape the summer heat of the city. We particularly enjoyed the easy access to kayaks, watching the sunset on the dock and evening dips in the hot tub. We saw so much wildlife! Otters, seals, eagles, even a pod of orca! I’ll be dreaming of the view of the water from the cottage for a long time. Thank you so much!

Better than the pictures and description
This cottage is so lovely, the pictures do not do it justice. The location is perfect, with beautiful views out every window. The kitchen was stocked; we were able to cook and make snacks during our stay. The hot tub is priceless and made all the difference in the evening. Bed was super comfortable, everything is tastefully decorated, TV has Netflix, etc. The owner is on the property in a house set back a little from the cottage, but they gave us plenty of privacy and it didn't feel "awkward" at all. They welcomed us to go down to their dock, which we did, and we watched the jellyfish and seals swim around. The owners also have kayaks for use, which we tried. My husband had a little seal following him around the basin. The view is stunning and in the distance, you can see the mountains of Olympia National Park in the U.S. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, unique rental.

Couples Retreat
Had a lovely 4 day/3night stay at this property. This small house is situated on the property in a deliberate way to provide privacy from the on-site owners and neighbors. Their use of landscaping and hardscapes hid us from everyone but also easy access to the boat ramp. The owners were quick to answer a question but seldom seen unless venturing away from the tiny house. Loved it. Also, a short drive to the grocery store, restaurants and day hiking trails.

Stunning stay at Sooke Basin
A lovely little cottage for two people. Everything you could want in a quiet getaway. Lots of outdoor seating. Loved being able to use the kayaks and enjoyed paddling next to seals one morning. A terrific hot tub made for a relaxing soak all three evenings. Would absolutely recommend this spot.

This property was absolutely amazing, everything is clean, neat, and comfortable. The house is stocked with everything you need for a great vacation - minus the food of course. The hot tub was perfect to sit in after a day exploring the area, and the ocean view from the deck could not be beat. Wonderful Weekend
We've stayed at many vrbo's in beautiful locations but this might just be the winner. The view of the Olympic mountains across the water from the cottage is just stunning. We stayed for 3 nights in March and were very fortunate to be able to take the kayaks out both days we were there and get a great view of the eagles nesting next door while being followed by a very curious seal who kept popping his head up to take a look at us. If you need somewhere to exhale and unwind I can't think of a more perfect place to do so.

Spring break
What an excellent vacation. The cabin was perfect. We kayaked, hiked the potholes, whale watched (saw 20 or so Orcas), hiked the skywalk and then just chilled out and had some delicious food. We cooked a couple of dinners, but also had some great food in town. Would definitely recommend this place. The owner, Danny, was the perfect host.
