Cozy 1 BR Cottage 2 Block Stroll to Sonoma Plaza.

Enter a private, secluded environment and get away from the busy world in this charming, old-fashioned cottage with many Irish touches -- but also with wireless internet connection and flat-screen cable HD TV with hundreds of channels. Enjoy the easy two-block stroll to Sonoma Plaza, where you can choose from Sonoma's best restaurants, wine tasting rooms, and gift shops, also Mission St. Francis Solano, the last and northernmost mission of the California Mission Trail. The cottage is a wonderful base for taking walks to the historic Plaza, coffeeshops, wine bars and nearby vineyards.

The traditionally furnished living room has a cozy, natural gas fireplace and sofa bed for additional guests for no extra charge. Our fully stocked kitchen has everything you need for preparing meals. The small room off the living room can be an office or nursery. The screened-in front porch is perfect for reading, and/or enjoying a glass of Sonoma Chardonnay. In September 2021 we built a redwood deck off the bedroom for outdoor relaxing or dining, and friendly deer are often, daily actually, sighted in the backyard pasture (they love apple cores).

My wife Rose and I opened the doors of Kate Murphy’s Cottage in 1984. We have thoroughly enjoyed meeting guests from around the world and playing a part in their visit to the beautiful Sonoma Valley. It has been a singularly rewarding experience. And now, I am welcoming my son-in-law, Rick Alatorre, to the endeavor. Rick will be your contact and is looking forward to facilitating a wonderful stay for you at Kate Murphy’s. Rick and I together will ensure that your time in Sonoma is relaxing and enjoyable.

Available at discount by the week, two weeks, three weeks or month, the cottage is ideal for anniversary celebrations, house hunting, visiting family and friends, or extended business trips. We have a three-day minimum stay policy.

We have instituted the following protocols to further ensure the health and safety of all our guests. Our staff and cleaning crew are fully vaccinated against the COVID pandemic. We require that anyone who enters the cottage for maintenance or upkeep or cleaning be fully vaccinated.

Perfect for two

This little quirky little cottage is the perfect place to stay when exploring Sonoma. It’s an easy walk to the square, has off street parking and is in a quiet neighborhood. The hosts were so nice and made sure we had all the information in advance of our arrival so check in was easy. Would highly recommend for a couple looking for a place to stay for a wine weekend.

Perfect Cottage Perfect Location

The cottage is so cozy and comfortable. We loved sitting on the covered patio listening to the rain. Such a great location. Super easy walk to the plaza and easy drive to Jack London State Park and Sugarloaf Ridge State Park.

Excellent location walking distance to the Square

This is our second time visiting the Sonoma cottage. It is perfect for two friends and the back Garden is lovely for morning coffee and evening wine. The cottages, old and quirky, but very inviting and very comfortable. We had a wonderful time

The cottage and grounds are delightful. We stay there when we visit relatives in Sonoma. The cottage is completely comfortable, and we love to relax there and watch the many deer who visit the property. Books, magazines, and reading material are abundant. The smart TV has cable and it is easy to stream. The furniture and beds are inviting. We cook in the kitchen, which is perfectly equipped.The host and family take care of everything within minutes. All this and a 5-10 minute walk to the Sonoma square and its many delights. If you like to swim, Sonoma Splash pools are less than 1/2 mile away. This is our Sonoma home.

Cute Cottage and Great Location

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. Cozy and comfortable for the two of us. Very walkable to the plaza and all the restaurants and shops. Check in could not be easier and Larry left great notes and suggestions. Deer showing up every evening to play in the back yard is not to be missed.

Lovely private cottage

Upon checking in we were greeted by a group deer around the cottage. The cottage and property gave a secluded nature feeling while still located so close to the Sonoma Square, which allowed us to easily explore Sonoma by foot. Larry was friendly and very accommodating throughout our stay. We would highly recommend this rental.

Charming cottage just minutes from the Plaza

Tucked in behind the owner's home is the cutest little cottage in Sonoma. It's got everything you need, including deer that come around to munch on grass in the evenings. A wonderful spot, very walkable to the Plaza, plus a great restaurant just a few hundred feet away. You won't be sorry.

We absolutely loved our stay! The cottage was located in walking distance to Sanoma square, which was a plus. It was clean and quiet. Larry was delightful and easy to work with. We loved watching the deer play in the backyard. Would definitely go back!

Cozy, Comfortable Cottage

We felt part of historic Sonoma because of the wonderful momentos in the cottage. Everything in the cottage: beds, chairs, lighting, kitchen, porch, deck was comfortable, cozy, and homey. The deer in the back yard were a special treat. We did not need a car. It was an easy walk to the Plaza, town wineries, the bagel shop and Whole Foods. We visit Sonoma often; we hope Kate's cottage is always available.

Amazing, Honestly

Cottage was perfect for an extended stay. Clean and comfortable, roomy, all amenities needed, screened in porch and a private deck in the back where you will certainly see the family of deer who reside there. Larry is the a perfect host. Respectful of your privacy while attentive to your needs and genuinely interested in your stay. Walking distance to Sonoma square. Book this now, will not regret it.

Comfy cottage in perfect location.

My daughter and I stayed at Kate Murphy's cottage for a long weekend while enjoying Sonoma. It was the perfect home base for our trip. The cottage was clean, comfortable and we felt right at home. Check-in was super easy and Larry introduced himself as we arrived. The bed was extremely comfortable, slept great every night. The best thing about the cottage is the location! It's just a couple blocks from the square so we easily walked to dinner, shopping, coffee, park, wine tastings. And when exhausted from our busy days, we spent the evenings relaxing on the deck watching the deer come up and eat in the meadow. We would definitely stay again!
