About this property

Arches - Olive Grove Cottage

  • Relax in the best possible location that our charming Sonoma Valley has to offer. It`s peaceful, beautiful and convenient (walking distance even) to wineries, hiking trails, horseback riding, dining and the town Plaza. If this unit is booked, try our other unit: Arches Vineyard View on AirBnb. https://www.airbnb.com/h/archesview.

    Pets are welcome SUBJECT TO PRIOR APPROVAL, for a fee along with house rules, so long as the guest assumes 100% responsibility for damage, disruption and liability.

    Our home and compound is situated on the most desirable street (Castle Road) in Sonoma Valley! We offer three acres of a park-like setting with your private cottage nestled alongside an old Mission olive orchard. The neighborhood could not be better, situated on a cul-de-sac with minimal vehicle traffic and peaceful, relaxing nights. At the end of Castle road, within walking distance, is Bartholomew Park that features the oldest premium vineyard site in California, a winery you will definitely want to visit, and hiking trails with magnificent views plus guided horseback riding is you`d like!
    Nearby, within walking distance, is Buena Vista winery, the oldest winery in California and the historic Sonoma Plaza featuring dozens of winery tasting rooms, shops, restaurants and historic buildings dating back to the earliest days of pioneer California!

    In addition to the entire cottage guests will have access to the pool/cantina area, vineyard, etc. The laundry room may be used by scheduling an arrangement with the host.

    Note: Broadband signals in general are problematic everywhere now. Too many connected devices, apparently, is the explanation.
    Our WiFi Access: Ranges from good to excellent and will change depending on local usage.
    Our Phone signal: OK, depending on your carrier and the signal load.
    Our Electrical service: Excellent! We have back-up Tesla Batteries and an automatic 20kw generator.

    Your host, Jon, as lived full time in Sonoma for 49 years with his wife Jackie (recently deceased) and on this property for 46 years! Therefore, we have plenty of local recommendations, stories and opinions available if you ask...

    Your visit here will start with a brief greeting by your host to help you get settled in and answer any questions you might have; then you are on your own, undisturbed!

    Castle Road, where we are located one mile east of the Sonoma Plaza, is a highly desirable and historic cul de sac just a short walk to Bartholomew Park and Winery (Horseback riding!), and Buena Vista Winery, the home of the first commercial vineyard planted in California by Count Agoston Haraszthy well over 150 years ago. As a matter of fact, our property is home to one of The Count`s ORIGINAL producing Tokay grapevines, estimated to be 160 years old and very likely to be the ONLY surviving grapevine left of that era. You can see it right in front of Jackie`s greenhouse. It`s on its last legs but, fortunately, we took cuttings and grafted them onto good rootstock to perpetuate the lineage.

    Within walking distance there are plenty of wineries to top you up before your afternoon nap!

    Walk, drive, rent bicycles, call a cab, ride share, hire a limo. Public transportation is scarce.

    Note: 2 Adults. Additional guests and pets by special arrangement!
    OUR RATES ARE BASED ON 2 PEOPLE USING THE KING BED, ADDITIONAL RATES APPLY FOR ADDITIONAL GUESTS AND USE OF THE EXTRA FUTON;
    No Guests of Guests allowed on the property without Host Permission; NO PETS without prior host approval!
    The pool is not heated but averages 80 degrees in Summer months;
    We HIGHLY recommend you purchase travel insurance these days, Airbnb reasonably offers AIRCOVER.

    Vacation Rental permit issued, Sonoma County. ZPE15-0090
    PLEASE NOTE: Our pricing is based on two adults sharing the same King bed in the bedroom. The sofa bed may be used for a fee of $50 per night per person!

    We have a two night minimum stay.

    Infants or children under 13 years of age are allowed to accompany our guests by prior arrangement to assure responsibility requirements for liability reasons dictated by our insurance provider.

    If you would like to bring your pet dog, here are the guidelines that guests are agreeing to:
    1. Only one (1) dog per stay will be allowed without prior arrangements with the host.
    2. There is a $25 fee PER NIGHT per dog payable through Airbnb at the time of booking.

    8. The guest is 100% responsible for any liability issues that are related to their dog’s behavior.

    Pets other than dogs are by special request and approval of the host. Cats are a host favorite!
