I would like to have given the Sidmouth Harbour Hotel 5 stars. However, I have only given it 4 stars because the main hotel description on Expedia is inaccurate. It says "this hotel sits directly on a pebble beach....". It does not. It is situated about 3 minutes walk from the beach, 75 feet above sea level on the adjacent hillside. I pointed this error out to the receptionist, who agreed the description is incorrect. But it has not been changed. In all other respects, the hotel met our expectations. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food at breakfast and dinner was very good. I particularly enjoyed the pianist playing the piano during Sunday lunch. I recommend this hotel to couples who are looking for a luxurious stay.

In a lovely spot not far from the sea and has good views across the bay. Beautifully maintained swimming pool and surrounding area. Some more parasols in the hot weather would be useful. Room was very clean and the portable fan was most welcome as there was no air conditioning. Staff very helpful especially as it was a very busy and hot weekend. Continental Breakfast is available inside the well furnished restaurant or on the lovely outside terrace. Food choice was good with an option for cooked breakfast for extra £10. We really enjoyed our stay and will return.

We put out the sign on door for room cleaning when we left in the morning and on our return everything shipshape. The continental breakfast was exceptional and we liked the fact when we had finished eating we could move to the lounge end of the dining room to enjoy our coffee, thus freeing up a table for another breakfast guest. The staff were friendly and helpful across the board from reception, to dining room to the spa area. Our room didn't have a beach view [which we knew when we booked] but a lovely view of the sea from the breakfast room.

We had a super room, with a lovely balcony and view. Staff at reception was super and friendly, as were the housekeeping staff. The restaurant staff were a little off the mark - a long wait for tea and coffee with breakfast in the morning; a little confusion over what we could/couldn’t have to eat when we sat in the bar late afternoon , but otherwise a perfect stay.
