This could have been brilliant, but was let down by disinterested staff, and a general lack of atmosphere. The food was excellent and the sommelier/waiter engaging and knowledgeable, but he was the only one. Two steep flights of stairs to our room and no offer of help with luggage. I could go on and on!

Noisy hotel
I was here on a quiet week night, but it was noisy when trying to sleep. Rooms open out onto main hall, a few loud talkers echo into a disturbance. I could also hear the people talking in the room next door, also outside due to the single glazing. If you're a light sleeper, this hotel isn't for you.
A lovely historic building, generally well maintained.
Don't be fooled by the picture of the pool, the pool is attached to a bedroom, not for general use.
Room was lovely and spacious and also warm. Pillows were thin and old. I couldn't get water to flow cold from the bathroom tap for a drink.
Food in the restaurant was tasty, service was great.

Disappointing
Netley Hall is a lovely building with a lot of potential, sadly it felt somewhat like a night at Fawlty Towers.
The positives - gorgeous country house with nice grounds and self catering cottages. The food at dinner was good, and staff helpful.
The negatives - understaffed, skeleton staff trying to manage the bar, restaurant and reception area all at the same time. Breakfast was terrible. Poor selection of hot and cold food, the hot food was barely tepid. If breakfast isn’t part of your stay, do not pay extra for it.
We stayed in a self-catering cottage. The bedrooms and en-suites have no windows, so no natural light. Check out is early, at 10am. I paid extra for a late check out so my family and I could shower after breakfast and not rush. We had no hot water in the cottage. Upon complaint, I was informed that there’s a switch somewhere in the kitchen to turn on hot water. And no-one felt it necessary to tell me this! For almost £200 a night, you’d expect hot water as a minimum.
Overall, a disappointing stay. Would not stay here again.
Lovely old elegant mansion come hotel, maybe a little in need of some attention but overall a great experience, I would recommend it to friends and family.
A delight to observe the house, the history, earlier decadence, gardens, trees and lake.

Netley Hall
Hotel building and grounds are lovely, accommodation less so. Booking needs to make it clear that your room is not in the main hotel building but in separate chalets at a distance from the main facility. The chalets are more akin to cheap holiday cottages than luxury park hotel amenities. Of particular criticism was the shower and beds which were more ymca than lux hotel and very tired at that. Food very good and main hotel building excellent.

Mixed thoughts about this hotel
The restaurant in the evening was very good and tried very hard with my son's special diet.
Unfortunately though in the morning we were mis informed about food (although the staff was kind enough to come and admit this).
The hotel tried to charge me twice for the stay.
The website shows pictures of a swimming pool, we discovery this was only available for 1 room and not the whole hotel which I thought was very mis leading.

Beautiful grounds, but our cottage was tucked at the back with a view of a static caravan out one of the windows, the car park from another window, and a wall ... it certainly didn't have a "garden view".
Kitchen was equipped minimally, and there were NO extras like S&P, tea or coffee, or even dish soap!
Floors are plastic laminate in the rooms, cold, no rugs.
Very clean, just felt a bit skimpy.
Sadly disappointing. Our room was fine but bonkers with its own private 10m pool and jacuzzi. If it hadn’t been for this aspect, our stay would have been ruined by the dining and breakfast. The dining menu was a shadow of that advertised with even items from this reduced offering unavailable. The steak was riven with gristle. The burger however was good.
Breakfast was a level below Travelodge inasmuch s as code was from a thermos, food was unappetising (sausages insipid, bacon hard, scrambled eggs very unattractive) really poor.
The door through to the kitchen always open…. Showing storage areas. lavatory light wasn’t working and when asked we were informed that they had no replacement bulbs. Place has an air of poorly managed decline. The brightest spot is the yellow lounge which is lovely.
We were welcomed very warmly and the staff were friendly and helpful. Particular attention was paid to the formal black tie dinner on NYE and the dietary needs of a couple of our party. Our overall impression was they the hotel is very strong on events (they host a lot of weddings, and we were there over new year) but the day-to-day operation is a little hit and miss. We could not even rustle up a sandwich or anything else to eat on arrival at 2pm, and on our third night the restaurant was closed (a couple of staff apparently were isolating for Covid). Reception was sometimes closed due to staffing issues, with self-check-in arrangements in place! Lovely building, warm and comfortable (high ceilings, large windows, large atrium etc might not cause you to expect it to be so) and the staff that were in evidence were great. The lack of food options was offset by being directed to a place a mile away that had brilliant service and tasty food (the Horseshoes, in Dorrington).
Beautiful hotel in a fantastic setting. It had easy parking and the room and en-suite was lovely. Not much info given about anything on check in and the breakfast service was pretty poor mainly on the second morning with a different person. If they improved the experience with service levels, it would have been a faultless review.
Brilliant stay very relaxing really impressed with private pool and jacuzzi also experience of 3course dinner at clock tower restaurant and food was excellent will definitely stay again only negative was there was no welcome pack in room or bottles of water there was only fruit flavoured tea bags aswell had to ask for normal tea bags and bottles of water but really this should be already in room
Restaurant not open on a monday or tuesday and onlt fine dining so dont expect to get a burger and chips, wouldnt want to eat there if staying longer than a couple of night, however was very nice meal.Good pub a mile down road which was very good.
No swimming pool as depicted on website so disappointed as were expecting this readon for booking.
Othereise nice hotel, nice breakfast, friendly staff, good location.

Frustrating but ok place
Nice enough country house but slightly frustrating that although there’s a pool on the description pictures, it’s only for wedding parties and not for the hotel guests. So shouldn’t be shown on the hotels.com website.
Also, be aware if you want to eat the restaurant is not open Monday or Tuesday, also frustrating.
We arrived, reception was in a corner of bar area, not welcoming, receptionist was on the phone & completely ignored us for at least 5 mins, not even an acknowledgement-very rude.
Our room was at the top of the hotel, no lift. It was large, but very drab & dated, it probably was clean, but felt grubby & dark. The stairs were a huge problem for me, windy & narrow. The breakfast was adequate, but probably the worst experience from the last 10 hotels we have stayed at this year.
This is a very grand Grade 2 listed country mansion. It is in good condition and a lovely location. We received a warm welcome and have been well looked after.
We have stayed here before so it was no surprise to have a repeat of excellence from the Netley Hall Team. We had our fantastic suite! The intent of the team seemed to b to help you relax and enjoy your time at Netley. But we also had a family event here - celebrating a 95th birthday and the 70th wedding anniversary of my husband’s parents. That was superb! The layout of the room, the food, the terrific customer care could not have been better! For us, Netley is just a fantastic place to stay!
Lovely venue but check eating and swimming arrange
Our stay was spoiled by the fact that we were not made aware that we could not eat in the rrstaurant as it was monday and the swimming pool was also not available to us
Such a pity as the location is superb as is the accommadation
