"We just had a amazing vacation at the property. It is one of the best property for your budget. We choose to upgrade the oceanfront room with meal and valet parking. You must do it if you want to enjoy it most. Only one thing turn me down was the walls between rooms are not good enough. I could hear what other room said when they speak big at night. Other than that it was one of my best place to stay."

"We assumed a hospitality listing would have A/C in a warm climate. We were wrong. Warm temps were uncomfortable. There is minimal privacy for couples. The windows are covered only by screens which can be covered by shutter blinds with gaps. One window in the front room has no covering except a screen - so anyone around can always hear into the residence at all times. A second VRBO residence on the property requires its residents to walk right by that open window to get to their residence. The lack of A/C requires residents to keep the windows open for air anyway. The windows being open reduces privacy given the proximity of other VRBO residents and the homeowner. And lastly, the windows being open at night prevents residents from blocking out the extremely loud noise of the frogs that live in the trees at night. The pool is shown in the pictures as being private, yet it is behind the property owner’s house. To put it mildly, everything that I expected about this stay was deceptively advertised in the posting. "

"Our stay at Gingerhill Farm Retreat was a unique and grounding experience. We stayed in the Bamboo cabin with an outdoor kitchen, shower, and sink, all supplied with propane and warm water, along with a clean compost toilet. The space was designed as an open lanai, allowing for natural cross-ventilation. We never needed the fan. The cabin was surrounded by lush vegetation, with the sounds of the jungle creating a vivid atmosphere at night and in the early morning. The common areas include a terrace overlooking the ocean beyond the tree line, offering beautiful sunset views. The staff was attentive and supportive throughout our stay. We also had the honor of meeting the owner, Ms. Mayumi Oda, often referred to as the “Matisse of Japan,” whose vision promotes healthy living and environmental awareness. This experience offered a rare balance between natural living and everyday comfort. It felt less like a stay and more like an immersion into a different way of being."

"It was a nice stay with a bedroom separated from the kitchen by a large barn door. The driveway was narrow but typical for the area and we could park right in front of the apartment. It had a full-sized refridgerator but no ice tray and no microwave. Except for the occasional barking dog it was quiet and the coqui frogs sang us to sleep."

"Holua Resort is a comfortable, family‑friendly property that delivers a relaxing stay on the Big Island. The grounds are lush and well maintained, and the pool and surrounding facilities are inviting and peaceful. Our two‑story unit was **spacious** and thoughtfully laid out, with plenty of room to spread out, a functional kitchen, and comfortable sleeping areas that worked well for a longer stay. That said, the décor and finishes do feel a bit dated, so manage your expectations if you’re looking for something very modern. The one real downside was the layout of the resort itself: parking can be quite far from the units, and we found ourselves hauling luggage a long way in the rain, through areas with standing water, which was inconvenient on arrival and departure. Overall, though, the friendly atmosphere, quiet setting, and roomy accommodations made it a very pleasant stay and a place we’d consider returning to with just a bit of logistical planning."

"It is very hard to locate the property. The management said that even Uber sometimes has trouble finding it. The pools are small but very clean. The rooms were huge. Not at all crowded. Definitely need a car. Would definitely come back."
