About this property

Cotswold Cottage, Inglenook Fire & Sun-Trap Courtyard | Dog Friendly | Pub Walk

  • At the quiet end of a country lane in Cherington, Cobblers pairs period Cotswold character with the practical comforts that make a stay easy. An inglenook fireplace, a bright country kitchen and a light-filled morning room give the cottage its feel.

The ground floor flows between the living room, kitchen and morning room, with enough space to be together and enough to spread out. The morning room opens straight onto the courtyard through French doors, so cottage and garden work as one in warmer months.

A wood-burning stove keeps things cosy through autumn and winter, while the sun-trap courtyard, with outdoor dining, a fire-pit and a charcoal BBQ, extends the living space outdoors when the weather allows.

Tucked away on the northern edge of the Cotswolds, with the village pub a two-minute walk and footpaths from the door into open farmland, it is a peaceful base for families and couples exploring the north Cotswolds and South Warwickshire.

    LIVING SPACE
The living room is built around an inglenook fireplace with a wood-burning stove at its centre, with comfortable seating arranged for relaxed evenings together.

    KITCHEN
A bright, country-style kitchen with a large island and seating, designed for proper use whether you are making a quick breakfast or cooking for the full house. Double oven, hob, dishwasher and fridge are joined by a Quooker boiling-water tap, microwave, toaster and kettle, and a bean-to-cup coffee machine with coffee & tea provided for easy mornings. A dining table seats the group for shared meals, and a separate utility room adds extra storage.

    BEDROOMS
Cobblers sleeps up to six across three bedrooms. The principal bedroom has a super king bed and its own en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom has a king bed, a dressing table and plenty of storage, and the third has a bunk bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers.

    BATHROOMS
The principal en-suite has a freestanding bath and shower with his and hers basins. The main bathroom has a second bath with shower, heated towel rail and basin, and there is a separate WC downstairs.

    MORNING ROOM
A light-filled room that opens directly onto the courtyard through French doors. It works equally well as a second sitting room, a children's hangout or a movie-night space, so one half of the group can settle in by the fire while the other spreads out here.

    OUTDOOR SPACE
The sun-trap courtyard is one of the cottage's best features in warmer months, with plenty of seating, an outdoor dining area, a fire-pit and a charcoal BBQ for long, unhurried evenings. It is fully fenced, which makes it straightforward for guests travelling with dogs.

    THE VILLAGE
Cherington is a quaint village on the northern edge of the Cotswolds, with a thirteenth-century church, a population of a couple of hundred and a pace to match. The Cherington Arms is a two-minute walk from the door, and footpaths lead straight from the lane into open farmland, including a gentle three-mile circular walk through Cherington and neighbouring Stourton.

Shipston-on-Stour, around three miles away, covers everyday essentials with independent shops, cafés and a good choice of pubs. Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Norton, Chipping Campden, Daylesford, Clarkson's Farm and Soho Farmhouse are all within easy reach, and Stratford-upon-Avon makes an easy day out.

Guests have exclusive use of the entire property.

The home is fully private and accessed via self check-in, allowing you to arrive at a time that suits you. A small number of storage areas remain locked, but there is ample space throughout the house and annex for personal belongings.

While we won’t be on site, we’re always available if needed. Guests have access to a 24-hour concierge service throughout their stay. We’re just a message or phone call away.

Cherington sits on the northern edge of the Cotswolds, a quiet village where honey-coloured cottages, a thirteenth-century church and a welcoming village pub set the tone.

With a population of only a couple of hundred, it remains genuinely unspoilt, the kind of place where the loudest sound is birdsong and the countryside rolls away in every direction. It shares its lanes with the neighbouring hamlet of Stourton, and footpaths lead straight from the village into open farmland, including a gentle three-mile circular walk through Cherington and Stourton.

Close to home, the Cherington Arms pours a well-kept pint, while the Cotswolds Distillery, Whichford Pottery and The Straw Kitchen café are all within easy reach. For eating out, local favourites include The Norman Knight and The Bower House.

For all its seclusion, the cottage is far from cut off. The handsome market town of Shipston-on-Stour is around three miles away, with independent shops, cafes, butchers and a good choice of pubs and restaurants. Beyond it, the wider Cotswolds open up: Moreton-in-Marsh, Chipping Norton, Chipping Campden and Stow-on-the-Wold offer antique shops, farm shops, galleries and some of the prettiest high streets in England, while the picture-postcard village of Bibury and Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon make for memorable days out.

Additionally, Daylesford Organic Farm, Clarkson's Farm, Soho Farmhouse and Blenheim Palace are all within reach for a special outing.

Families are well catered for too, with Cotswold Farm Park, Cotswold Wildlife Park and Fosseway Play Barn among the attractions nearby.

It is a base that balances real countryside calm with easy days out, equally suited to lazy mornings and proper exploring.

A car is the best way to enjoy this corner of the Cotswolds, and there is private parking at the cottage. The surrounding lanes are quiet and the villages, market towns and walking trails are all an easy drive away, with Shipston-on-Stour around three miles off for everyday essentials and a wider choice of destinations within twenty to forty minutes.

If you prefer to arrive by train, the nearest station is Moreton-in-Marsh, roughly seven miles away, which sits on the Cotswold Line with direct Great Western services to London Paddington via Oxford. From the station it is a short taxi ride to the cottage. Local bus services connect Moreton-in-Marsh and Shipston-on-Stour, though they are limited in the evenings and on Sundays, so a car is strongly recommended for making the most of your stay and reaching the more out-of-the-way villages, pubs and viewpoints.

Once you have arrived, much of the pleasure here lies close at hand, with footpaths leading directly from the village into the surrounding countryside.

    ★ A warm welcome
For stays of two nights or more, guests are welcomed with a complimentary arrival basket including locally sourced bread and eggs, a selection of Tiptree preserves, and tea and coffee essentials.

    ★ Wood-burning stove
Complimentary logs are provided for the wood-burning stove, making cosy evenings easy during cooler months.

    ★ Cleaning & care
The property is thoroughly cleaned and carefully prepared before each stay, with fresh linens and towels provided for all guests.

    ★ Dog-friendly stays
Well-behaved dogs are welcome, we just ask that dogs are not left unattended and are kept off beds and sofas.
