For those seeking an authentic experience with convenient access to local life and vineyards, staying directly in Shilda village is ideal. The village is relatively compact, with guesthouses and family-run wineries scattered amongst residential homes and agricultural land. It provides a genuine insight into Georgian rural life, with many establishments offering traditional meals and wine tastings.

Couples looking for a peaceful retreat with stunning views often find properties just outside the main village, especially those located among the vineyards. These locations offer a tranquil setting, often with panoramic vistas of the Alazani Valley and the Caucasus Mountains.

The best time to go to Shilda is during the spring (late April to early June) or autumn (September to October) when the weather is most pleasant for exploring the Kakheti region.

Spring brings blooming vineyards and comfortable temperatures, superb for wine tastings and outdoor activities. The landscape is lush and green, and the air is fresh. This makes it an ideal time for couples looking for a romantic getaway, as they can enjoy leisurely strolls through the vineyards and al fresco dining.

Autumn is harvest season, which is an exciting time to visit. The weather remains mild, and the vineyards are busy with grape picking. Many wineries offer special harvest experiences.
