Lisa the manager, Liam and the bar team are all really welcoming and friendly and are really helpful. Nice food and big portions. Good location with lots of walks on the doorstep. I would definitely stay again if we are in the area 👍
Lovely rustic pub, Dog friendly which meant we could bring our puppy with us. Food was lovely, staff were friendly, room was a little dated but i think that added to the character of the place. No compaints from us i would happily stay again.
Clean and comfortable room, friendly staff with nice choice of food, only let down for me,had to leave early for work, and breakfast not served till half 8
The view was mesmerizing, allowed you to look through the epic hills, foods were great, everything was good except for the transportation, it took me a long way to reach there.
We booked our stay back in September. On 13th October we travelled 200 miles from Scotland, arriving at 8pm, to find it closed. It transpired that the hotel had gone out of business on 5th October. No one had thought to inform us, and cancel our booking!
I spent an hour on the phone speaking to various people in America, employed by Hotels.com, assuming they would be able to help, perhaps by arranging alternative accommodation. Instead they each wasted time by going through the same pointless to-do list, and ringing the hotel although I'd told them the phone was disconnected. My phone battery died and a nearby resident allowed me to use their house phone (to ring America!) I was offered no help whatsoever and was eventually just cut off.
So, we ended up with no accommodation, no phone, hardly any petrol, and sleeping in our very cold car in the hotel car park.
When we arrived home today, we were bombarded by emails from Hotels.com asking for a review of our stay - this is the review
In attempting to obtain a refund, we were directed to Expedia.com - well that was another wasted hour or so! The expression 'passed from pillar to post' springs to mind.
I'm not hopeful of getting a refund at this point... I would have hoped that Hotels.com would have had some sort of contingency plan in place for this sort of eventuality & quickly arranged alternative accommodation. It was very cold in our car on the night, had this happened further into winter things could have been worse!

Really well located and nice pub food. There was some kind of party though on the Saturday eve with loud music and door slamming until early hours of the morning.
A one-night stopover on the way back home.
We found this little gem to be delightful, slightly quirky and very friendly

4/5 but could easily be a 5/5.
Lovely old pub in a great location that just needs a decent maintenance man.
Food & drink are good and reasonably priced but the rooms are small, (especially with a dog) and every bathroom fitting was disappointing as all were 30sec fixes.
We'd definitely stay here again.

The staff are very pleasant and helpful with all your needs. The room has an emergency exit light that is very bright at night.
The staff are amazing. Absolutely fantastic in almost every way.
The food is good too, although don't order a bacon sandwich for breakfast as you'll get 2 slightly warmed and dry slices of white bread with bacon in them, and packets butter put next to them.
The rooms though: not great. Ours clearly hadn't been cleaned properly as the last occupants shower bits were still on the shower.
As for the beds, they are about as uncomfortable as a bed can be. If you like springs in your side all night you'll love 'em!
Basically, go there for your tea, that's great. Just don't stop over.
A very lovely rustic country pub, the pub area is very good and had a brilliant meal. But the bedroom area was very poor condition and dirty, the bedroom although a had been a nice room was tired and dirty, the bedding was old and marked looked like it had not been changed from the previous customer, I could not have a shower as it was so dirty, I just hope the bedrooms are waiting for a makeover rubbish still in bin and coffee marks still in cups
