I got to stay one night for free but compared to other hostels I had stayed, this was the worst. The owner was unfriendly, the bed was high and the bathroom was filthy. Luckily, I just stayed there for one night!
Excellent location for a first time visit to Shanghai. The jazz and blues bar across the road is cool and conveniently placed, but a bit annoying if you want to get to bed early.

Disliked: Staff & service, room comfort

Stayed in a dorm-style room, and the accommodations were great: comfortable mattresses and bedding, washing machines, very clean toilets and bathrooms, and plenty of air conditioning (very important in Shanghai in the summer). Staff were very helpful and spoke good English. Also, the location is literally a block behind the Bund, and about a five minute walk from East Nanjing Road (subway stop + Western style shopping plaza, if you're into that). Convenience store next door with most all the necessities you might need, and plenty of store-front food vendors around, if you're like me and want a taste of the local cuisine.
When I have stayed the 4th floor of this hostel, shower rooms and rest rooms were closed due to constraction. So I had to go to the 1st floor. From about 10a.m. there was big noise of construction. And at night there was a restaurant and a music band played music till midnight (about 0:30am). So I did not want to stay there any more. And they seemed to not change the bed linen after check out. No towel. So If there was no construction I would have give 2.5.
Location is close to "The Bund", 2 minites by foot. But it takes about 15 minites from the nearest subway station by foot if you have a luggage.
Staffs can speak English well.
Big secure locker for each in the room.
And on 6th floor there is a bar.
Free Wifi (Not in the room, only the 1st floor and bar on the 6th floor.
So if you a late-night person and after construction, seldom walk to the nearest station by foot, and no bed linen exchange is OK, I recommend this hotel.
Once again, I have to say that the biggest advantage of this hostel is the prize. Still, there is a jazz bar which is the coolest bar right cross the street. You might feel noise in some cases, but it's totally different when you have chance to stay in that jazz bar.
One of the best hostels I have stayed in. Friendly staff. I had trouble with my bank, so they allowed me to leave my passport at the front desk in lieu of the cash-only deposit that is common in China. The beds were clean, the shared bathrooms were as clean as can be for a hostel. There were secure lockers in the rooms for individual use.
The biggest advantage of this hostel is lowest prize ever, But one of my U.S. friend lost some coins during his trip, he said that one of the workers had strong suspect to this event. Averagely, if you keep eye on your belongings very carefully, this hostel is not bad.
