Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Saylorville?
The best time to go to Saylorville is from May to September, when the weather is warm and ideal for outdoor activities.

During these months, the Saylorville Lake area is fully open, offering opportunities for boating, fishing, and hiking. The average daily temperatures range from the low 20s to high 20s Celsius, making it comfortable for enjoying the lake and its surroundings. Families will find this period particularly appealing, as the beaches are open, and there are often community events and festivals happening in nearby towns like Polk City.

For those who prefer a quieter experience and cooler temperatures, late April or early October can also be good options. The autumn foliage around the lake is quite appealing, and while some water activities might be winding down, hiking and cycling trails remain excellent.
