"Very hard to report this, but the property was uninhabitable when we were there.. High-level - there was area-wide sargassum inundation. This is not unusual. Low-level - the management's choice of how to deal with the situation in their particular bay (or not deal with it), was/is pitiful. Facts: • We had a 4 night stay booked - had to leave early. • The resort was vacant. There were maybe 5-10 other people total, which I assume was due to the situation (smell). • We stayed the night we arrived because we had activities booked the next day. We did those activities all day, came back to resort to stay one more night, and left next day. • The staff was amazing!! They went out of their way to attempt to help us find peace in that insane situation. I'm certain they would like their management to attack the problem more proactively, and also they have no control over it. • We transited the coastline 4 times, and witnessed other resorts and beaches that were clear, or had MORE active clearing work underway. Reef Haven's clearing activity was non-existent. One guy in the water with a rake and a mask ....not good enough. • I'm certain that with approval, I could fix their issue in 3 days. I'd bring 3 boats of guys from San Pedro 3 days in a row, put them up in the resort overnight, and we'd clear the beach. • The rotting sargassum is toxic once it starts producing hurdrogen sulfide. We had to shelter in our room / apartment, with towels at the door threshold. "

"Snorkeling right there great! Fishing excellent too. Kayaks, fish poles, snorkeling gear all free to use. Staff hospitality unbeatable! The service wonderful. They even arranged puddle jumper plane and boat transfer so fun and snorkeling trip!"

The property is well maintained, the staff is excellent, and the overall experience is stress-free and comfortable. While it’s a bit outside town, that actually adds to the quiet vibe. We’d absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it—especially for couples or anyone looking to unwind on Ambergris Caye."

"We could not stay at Hotel Martin. The room was completely unacceptable. It was dirty, stuffy and sweltering hot. The AC did not work and I have a medical condition which requires me to stay cool. To make matters worse, the door lock on our room also did not work properly and my partner got locked in the room, unable to leave until we entered the room from a hidden side door. Yikes! The manager was not on site and not answering their phone, Thankfully someone else tried to assist us and get us a different room but that was even worse than the first. The AC in the new room still didn't work and worse, it smelled like old cigarettes, weed and destroyed dreams. While we saw the other negative reviews we just thought they weren't that bad, the hotel was maybe a little run-down but could still be good, WE WERE WRONG. Hotel Martin has just been left to decay. There still has been no communication or refund for this atrocity of a hotel. Lesson learned. Thankfully we were able to find an available room at a nearby hotel with better reviews. That really saved our trip! Save yourself (and your soul) the same pain and skip Hotel Martin. Book ANYWHERE ELSE, so you can actually enjoy your stay in Corozal. The one thing they didn't lie about was the view. It is right on the ocean with stairs going right down to the water. Of course, you can stay elsewhere and take those same stairs..."

"Our stay was “unBelizeable”! All of the communication leading up to our arrival was excellent. We knew exactly what to expect. Lee & team were so attentive and ensured we had everything we needed. When asked for authentic cuisine, they made recommendations of where to find the best of everything. We really enjoyed being in Secret Beach away from large crowds. The beach was almost private and offered fantastic snorkeling. My favorite part of the day was settling in for sunsets on the patio. Truly relaxing. Highly recommend."
