When is the best time to go to Santo Antão?

The best time to go to Santo Antão is between May and September for pleasant weather, or during the grape harvest in February and March for a great experience. For most travellers, the period from May to September offers dry, sunny conditions, making it ideal for exploring the island's natural beauty and enjoying outdoor activities. Temperatures are generally comfortable, not too hot, and there's minimal rainfall, which is superb for hiking the famous trails and relaxing by the coast. If you're interested in local culture and culinary experiences, visiting in February or March can be very rewarding. This is when the grape harvest takes place, particularly in the Ribeira Grande and Paul valleys.

8/10 Good

"Good, fairly new hotel, 7kms out of Bento Goncalves centre, so need to travel if you want to go out to restaurants, etc. Staff tried to communicate with me in English. Staff were helpful. Nice location if you want to visit the winelands."

Swan Caxias do Sul

10/10 Excellent

"My first time staying at this hotel, and I absolutely loved it! I arrived in Caxias late at night, and as soon as I walked into the property, the front desk greeted me by name. 👏 Such a remarkable personal touch that made me feel so welcome. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, and the breakfast was delicious. The entire staff was friendly, professional, and courteous throughout my stay. I would definitely recommend this property and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again."
