The staff did not turn on the heater when I checked in, but issue was resolved when I had my husband (in US) spoke to them in Spanish through whatsapp. Friendly staff. Restaraunt attached has terrible empanada

Please clean the property
Hello, We selected the Oxford Suites Santiago de Compostela for its excellent location to the Cathedral. Our rooms (2) were located on the third floor (no elevator; it would have been useful to understand in advance since we had an elderly family member). The room was simple and modest, all we needed. The bathroom had a must/sewer smell. The shower door was broken and unable to close. The drain did not work properly and the basin was flooding. The vent was dirty/dusty. The top of the bed sheet had smudges and the comforter was dirty (we opted not to use it). Though we contemplated to switch hotels for the second night, our flight was leaving early next morning (6:00am), and we needed to leave hotel by 4:00am. That night we found bed bugs and left the location at earliest convenience. A charming location that would benefit from a comprehensive/deep cleaning.

While the room was small it was attractive & well appointed. The bed’s pillow however was very hard & too high & narrow to sleep comfortably & not get a sore neck. The shower leaked significantly onto the main bathroom floor. The room was extremely cold & there was no heat. And it would have been nice to have had at least one English speaking news channel on the tv. I am now in a hotel in Porto & the tv has 6 English speaking news channels(one would be fine). On the positive side, the staff were excellent, very friendly, helpful & accommodating., providing terrific service. And the property was ideally located, virtually next door to the Cathedral.

The staff went above and beyond! I was greeted in English by a young woman who said she was there to help me. Between her and the gentleman at reception the service was excellent. They helped me with transportation to airport, removing the carbon tip from my hiking pole, directing me to the best laundry service in Santiago and answered all my questions. I enjoyed the Galician Octopus in their restaurant. I will stay there again if in Santiago:

Close to Compostela Cathedral room ok enough
Well....the location was perfect - only a few hundred meters from the Compostela Cathedral Plaza. The hotel is actually above a neighborhood bar/restaurant which didn't bother us at all - but our room was on the 4th (top) floor - no lift, no air conditioning & no offer of help for the bags from reception - which is also the restaurant pay counter. Just know that before you book in a hot month. Bathroom is tiny but fine & clean.

The property is a quick 5 minute walk from the cathedral in Santiago. The entrance is a bit deceptive in that it is associated with a small cafe. But once you hit the staircase to go up, everything is clean and new. All and all it is a nice place for a quiet stay.

Amazing stay. We were concerned first with reading multiple reviews. But we are very happy that we stayed there. The service is excellent. Even without speaking Spanish we were able to communicate without issues. There is always google translate to help. The room is clean and very comfortable. We did not hear any noise from outside, so no need to worry about earplugs. The location is amazing. Overall we really loved staying at Oxford suites.

This was a clean property very close to the cathedral so I didn’t have to walk to far after the excitement of finishing the Camino. It was surprisingly quiet at night and quiet in the halls of the pension. The room had rustic charm yet all the conveniences of a hotel. There was a cafe/ bar below which was nice. The people were very friendly.

I was pleasantly surprised by the accommodation, very clean room, linens and a decent shower. Even though it was an attic room it was very comfortable and convenient for the Cathedral and sightseeing in that area.

Clean! Perfect location at the Cathedral. Super convenient, right above a cafe, right next to a taxi stand. The cafe staff checks you in and you are on your own. It worked fine. Two pieces of advice: 1) bring earplugs 2) have Google Translate handy as no one speaks English. It's a very good place to stay and we'd book it again if we went back.

I had reservations for 2-3 days at Oxford Suites in Santiago de Compostela with confirmation number and everything, all done online. When we arrived there by airport taxi around 9pm, all lights were out, no one was staying at the property, no info on door, I called the phone number I had numerous times but no one answered so we had the taxidriver take us to another hotel. However, in the days that follwed I saw that the hotel managed to charge my credit card for the full amount (all the days we were supposed to stay there). I disputed this charge with my credit card company, I had proof that I was taken there and the hotel was closed and I had proof of the numerous calls I made to them. My credit car company said the Oxford Hotel never contacted them regarding my dispute therefore my credit card company reimbursed me for these charges.

I had a problem at checkin. I reserved this hotel utilizing my Am Express credit card. When I arrived at the hotel, their bank machine did not accept the credit card. Thus, I had to find a cash machine and pay the hotel in cash. The hotel told me my card wasn't working ...... which I know was not true.

Do not go by the picture in Expedia. The property is really impossible to find. It is a single door amidst a row of shops and the name is not written as Oxford Suites. It is some Spanish name. We know we were reaching late and I sent messages to the property only to hear silence. When we arrived there, we called the number posted and some person picked up and knows literally zero English. I ended up going to the only restaurant nearby that was about to close to have the person converse with that person to get instructions to enter. If you are driving the car does not go to the front of the property. So you need to lug the bags 50 yards and drag them up the stairs (no elevator) The room was filled with small insects on the ceiling (particularly in the bathroom) Overall, a terrible experience too many to list.

These apartments are in an amazing place and have really good staff. The problem is the rooms are a little tatty and do not have AC. Our room had tiles missing from the floor. The room was cramped. For a such a price the lack of breakfast was a little annoying. The big plus is the excellent staff and the location

Great location. Excellent condition of property. Would be nice to have a breakfast option onsite but they just had the limited offerings of the shop downstairs. Not even simple toast to go with coffee. But that’s a minor ask. Great property and staff. Would stay again.
